      Exactly. It's unfortunate that we live in a society where people are ashamed of (if this is true in his case) of being hard workers. Where success is measured by a title or credentials. Sure, there's nothing wrong with having aspirations and goals. But, there's also nothing wrong with earning an honest living, either. Glad Dave validated that.

    it's dave's unicorn pizza man paying his way through school. he can barely contain his excitement!

    • @mrfred1000
      @mrfred1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      "average Pizza Delivery Driver salary in the United States is $20,936 as of December 26, 2019, but the salary range typically falls between $18,937 and $24,190."
      Dave always says deliver pizza on the side and make an extra $1000 (Which does not incude TIPS)
      You said "Unicorn Pizza man" So I'm going to assume you meant it's a rarity to have a pizza delivery person make an extra $1000 a month doing that job hence "Unicorn" Also I'd like to point out, the caller is NOT a delivery man, he's a General Manager so his salary is around double a delivery man not counting bonuses.
      So let's see if an extra $1000 like Dave says is common or uncommon as you believe.
      Lowest annual: $18,937 which is ($1578.08 monthly)
      Highest annual: $24,190 which is ($2015.83 monthly)
      Already you can see it's a fail position, you've already hit $1000 monthly even after tax at the lowest or highest average which means it's common to make $1000 like Dave says. Anyone not making $1000 must be working less than around 28 hrs and if that's the case, for THOSE people they can't hit $1000 without tips, but they are usually still make $700-$800 if they are part time.
      If they are full time, they hit $1000. It's simple math, Part time 20 hrs of work per week equals 80 hours and if you make $13 an hour that's $1,040 a month before tax so still with just 20 hours of work at $13 an hour you still almost make a $1040 after tax and most drivers are not doing 20 hours only and they make more than $13 as a driver. I used low numbers on purpose.
      What's unicorn about this? Stop repeating what you hear and assume and do hard numbers for facts. Even if you made $10 an hour, if you work 40 hours a week you make $1600 a month before tax. All you people do is keep your brain stuck in the same mindset that people have when we got the debt minus the ideas about the debt after watching Dave Ramsey which will also hold you back.

I say lets pay off everything we owe we should be debt free by march next year. Then i spoke to the couple a a birthday party and after couple drinks and turns out they are drowing in debt and paying minimums on everything and ruined their credit and maxed out everything. So next day i tell my wife , she has this look on her face like "oh wow🙄". Dont believe everything you see on face book....

      Also, many people have sources of income that aren't readily apparent. Example: where I live, a lot of people have trust funds. They may not be huge trust funds, but it allows them freedom that other people don't have. They can drive better cars, buy a nicer house, and go on trips that you wouldn't think they could afford from what they do for a living. I also know people who get huge cash gifts from their well-off parents for Christmas and birthdays. I didn't understand this until a friend showed me the check for $50,000 that her in-laws gave her husband for Christmas. I have other friends whose rich parents give them huge amounts of money. They have new cars, go on trips all the time, eat out all the time at very expensive restaurants, all on $60k income a year, wink, wink. Then one day the husband told me what the deal was with his parents being rich (I didn't know).

I am 49 years old and unfortunately many of my friends have started having health problems that limit their ability to travel. My nephew in law had a massive heart attack and died in May without warning. I believe in being debt free but I also put something away to use as a travel acoount. We are going to Italy with the kids next year but I am not going into debt. Congratulations on accomplishing your goal of being debt free but don't completely brush off your wife's desire to travel.

      And this kid is trying to "do right" in his mind but they're not married. What happens when she graduates, decides to move 2000 miles away saying, "thanks for the memories"?
