    Message of Malachi is to the PRIESTS: they cheated by not supporting those Levites who Served in the Temple so they left their duties (Nehemiah 13:4-13). Do you really know what are Gpd's commandments on tithing? It is taking 10% of the "increase", going to the place that God nominated (Temple, or place of worship) and using that for the feast together with your family; you do it 2 years out if each 3-year cycle (Deuteronomy 14:22-26). However, EACH THRIED YEAR of the 3-year cycle, you do not take your tithe (10% of your "increase" of THAT YEAR), but rather give it into the storehouse that each town that was allocated to the Levies had (about 48 towns in the land of Israel back then), so that the Levites AND THE WIDOW AND THE ORPHAN AND THE STRANGER, may get their portion. BUT, before it is used, the Levites MUST take the BEST PORTION of that and give it to the PRIESTS. See Deuteronomy 14:27-29 and Deuteronomy 26:12. My greatest respect for the Apostle Kathryn, BUT the teaching on tithing comes from the "prosperity doctrine", that is all lies and deception. Search for "Truth about Tithing", 12 edition 2000.

    I'm not a Tither per se as Malachi suggests according to the Levitical Laws of Tithing (the 3 Tithes), the sacrificial Tithe, the Festival Tithe, and the third year Tithe (The "Poor" Tithe), but I do give according to 2 Corinthians 9:6-8. And I'm here to say that giving to the poor works! For the Scriptures tell us in Proverbs 19:17, "Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed." And again in Proverbs 22:9, it says, "The generous themselves will be blessed, for they share their food with the poor." And then in 2 Corinthians 9:9 it says, "They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever."😊

    Long before man's traditions, teachings, the concept of money or any system of economies, and of course, any race or nationality of people whether Jews or Greeks, the understanding of what God is after in an offering is clearly taught to us. We learn that God demands to be first. In fact, the work of the Holy Ghost in the New Testament believer is to produce a God first frame of mind in every area of life. For that reason, we learn in Genesis 4 the principle of giving (tithing) is keeping God first. It is a principle or basic truth concerning giving. The scripture that best descripes the principle of keeping God first in our wealth is found in Genesis 4. The story of Cain and Able gives understanding to what God is looking for in an offering. In this very simple story, God had respect unto Abel's offering because he brought to God the "firstlings" of his flock and the fat thereof. Notice that the bible says God had respect unto Abel and to his offering. In other words, God respected Abel first and secondarily to the offering. But with Cain, God did not respect Cain nor his offering. In other words, Cain failed to keep God first. God demands preemminence. He must be first. This is the principle of giving. Are we keeping God first in our wealth? Tithing is the biblical practice (principle) of keeping God first. This principle is also mentioned in Exodus 13:11-15.

    • @markb7067
      @markb7067 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What Cain and Able submitted were offerings. There's no reference to a tithe in Genesis 4. The first biblical reference to a "tithe" is in Genesis 14 where Abraham submits a one-time honorarium to Melchizedek from war spoils in exchange for bread & wine. The Bible doesn't say that tithing is a principle. Biblical, systematic tithes were taxes specifically purposed under Mosaic Law and were not received as money. Today's version of tithing from earned wages carries no biblical precedent.

    • @drj1967
      @drj1967 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @markb7067 Yes, I understand they did not use money. There was no exchange of currency the way we are accustomed to today's society. The point is this. God is preeminent. The principle is simple. Keep God first! For this reason, God had respect unto Able and to his offering. The principle of His preeminence applies in every walk with Chirst. Our time, talents, abilities, wealth and so on demands keeping God first. And what biblical principle do we have to keep God first in our wealth? You know the answer. It is called tithing.

    • @markb7067
      @markb7067 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@drj1967 In the Bible, the first fruits were heave offerings of consumable items taken to the temple in a basket for consumption there. Those weren't tithes but they did occur under Mosaic Law. And it's interesting that money was widely traded and wages were earned during those times. Specific denominations of money were exchanged for offering redemptions yet there's no mention of money in the tithe redemption. All biblical, compulsory tithes were received from either the tithe of the land or the tithe of the herd. All from within Israel. I don't know of any scripture where Jesus or God asked for anyone's money. Jesus emphasized giving to the poor.

    • @drj1967
      @drj1967 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @markb7067 What are you defending or trying to say? Are you saying we don't honor God with our wealth? Are you saying the early church did not give of all they had? Are you saying the modern believer should give nothing? If you say the modern Christian should give nothing, then simply say that. If you are saying they should give something back to God, then what should we give? What principle of giving do you follow? As I have stated quite clearly, God is preeminent. He deserves our best when giving. Tithing is the principle that honors God and is taught in the Pentateuch, namely in Genesis through Abraham, and Exodus 13, throughout Leviticus, and again in Matthew 23:23 and Hebrews 7 where we learn that Jesus still receives the tithe.

    That is under the law of the Old Testament. In the New Testament it Paul recognized that Jesus did not abolish tithing, he added to it, not in law, but in the freedom to give and receive. Hebrews 7:8 (NIV) "In the one case, the tenth is collected by people who die; but in the other case, by him who is declared to be living."
    Paul writes this after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus- maybe decades after. Paul discusses the concept of tithes and priesthood in the context of Jesus' eternal priesthood in the book of Hebrews, particularly in Hebrews 7. In this verse, Paul contrasts the mortal Levitical priests, who collect tithes and eventually die, with Jesus, who is "declared to be living" and holds an eternal priesthood. This implies that Jesus, in his eternal priesthood, is in a position similar to Melchizedek's, who received tithes from Abraham. Melchizedek is presented as a type or foreshadowing of Christ's eternal priesthood. Just as Melchizedek received tithes from Abraham, Jesus, as a priest in the order of Melchizedek, is implied to be worthy of receiving tithes. Jesus' priesthood is eternal and superior to the Levitical priesthood, which suggests that he holds a continual and everlasting role in interceding for believers.
    While the text does not explicitly say that Jesus physically receives tithes today, it symbolically aligns the giving of tithes to the eternal priesthood of Jesus. This means that when believers give, it can be seen as an act of worship and honor to Christ, who is their eternal high priest. The emphasis is on the spiritual and eternal nature of Jesus' priesthood, suggesting that acts of giving, including tithes, are directed towards Jesus in a spiritual sense, recognizing his perpetual priesthood.
    Paul’s statements in Hebrews 7, especially verse 8, suggests that Jesus, as the eternal high priest in the order of Melchizedek, is symbolically in a position to receive tithes, emphasizing the spiritual significance of giving as an act of worship to Christ. While Paul does not explicitly state that Jesus "receives tithes" in the same way as the Levitical priests, he makes a significant comparison between the Levitical priesthood and the priesthood of Melchizedek, to which Jesus belongs.
    Paul recounts how Abraham gave a tenth (tithe) of everything to Melchizedek, who was both a king and a priest (Hebrews 7:1-2). He argues that Melchizedek's priesthood is superior to the Levitical priesthood because Levi, the ancestor of the Levitical priests, effectively paid tithes through Abraham (Hebrews 7:4-10).
    Having said all that, Paul points out that Jesus does receive tithes today. Just in case you missed it, Hebrews 7:8 (NIV) In the one case, the tenth is collected by people who die; but in the other case, by him who is declared to be living. Pretty clear to me that the present day ministry of Jesus includes receiving tithes from believers. What does appear to be true is that tithing is not a NT law. It is not compulsory. If anything, it is superseded by a higher law of free will giving. Just as Abraham first gave a tenth in response to Gods deliverance, so believers today are free to give from their own heart an amount or frequency they deem appropriate. Notice it is a higher law, not an escape from tithing. A higher law has greater consequences. Giving and receiving is written about many times in the NT and one would have to be willfully blind to say it is not true. The main principle to follow is not whether tithing is or isn’t under the law, or is or isn’t done away with. The main principle is do we have something better?
    Hebrews 8:6
    6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
    ALL argument about tithing is concerned with being free from tithing as if it is wicked or onerous. The fact is the new covenant is a better covenant than the old. Tithing was a blessing, not a curse, under the old. We have something better, which is not freedom from tithing, but freedom to give and receive as much as one wants from the heart.
    In that context, if one tithes from the heart, the OT blessings are still relevant today. Tithing is the beginning of giving and blessings, not the end. we have a new and better covenant with better promises. Learn those promises and practice believing God instead of avoiding God and the blessing that goes with tithing will be seen to be true today.
    The Biblical Perspective in the NT on giving.
    1 Corinthians 9:13-14 (NIV):
    "Don't you know that those who serve in the temple get their food from the temple, and that those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar? In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel."
    1 Corinthians 16:2 provides a structured approach to charitable giving within the early Christian community, emphasizing regular, proportional, and intentional contributions to support those in need. Paul, the apostle, gives instructions to the church in Corinth regarding the collection of funds for the saints in Jerusalem. It reads: "On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made."
    Paul is instructing the Corinthians to make their contributions regularly , specifically on Sunday, which is the day Christians gather to worship. This reflects the early Christian practice of meeting on the first day of the week, commemorating Jesus' resurrection. He emphasizes that every member of the community should participate in this act of giving. Each person is to give according to their financial ability. So contributions are based on what one has, ensuring fairness.

    I tried tithing twice and the exact opposite happened to me. It damaged me financially and I did not get tenfold back. I just barely made ends meet. So I tested God on this and I dont see how it is true that you are blessed when you tithe

    • @markb7067
      @markb7067 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's because there's no such thing as a biblical tithe received from earned wages or one paid to today's version of a "church". For every testimony of blessing, there are others for no blessing at all. Today's version of tithing has no biblical precedent.
