When I was desperately poor and couldn’t afford to spare a single cent, I did my best to tithe by volunteering my spare time to the church. Cleaning up the church after service, helping set up computer equipment (so many elderly folks in church administrations!) or whatever else they needed done around the place.
For a lack of money, I offered my free time.

I prayed two days ago because I was really confused and conflicted about the idea of tithing under the new covenant. Even some churches don't practice tithing. I asked my friends for advice and prayed for understanding and this video showed up! God truly listens! He is working on me in the area of being generous with my finances and my heart posture.

Jesus didnt admonish the law, He even said you should give to God what is due, just like the government what is due (tax). You can interpret this as tithe or something, but its way more reasonable its about tithe because Jews were still practicing tithe during Jesus ministry too.
When people talk about "not under the Law", they somehow forget that its talking about the power of Law that convicts people to death because of their sins, not literally us free not to do the Law. We are still required to do the Law because thats what God wants of us, but we will do it out of joy from our salvation not because we want to get into the heaven by doing the Law. People seemingly forgot the Law didnt just disappear, instead Jesus even reinforce the Law, example in preach of Mt. Sinai about lustful thoughts is the same as adultery.

Soften our hearts to hear the word and let it take root in our hearts and bear much fruit, so that we may please and glorify You alone. Thank You so much for all you’ve provided for us and for this great community. We are very grateful. Teach us Lord. In Jesus’ name amen.

Giving doesn't just look like giving money. Time, talent, resources, finances - all things certain people have an abundance of to give. God has prepared good works for us to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). We should follow the lead of His Word and Spirit and walk in them. Not out of duty, but out of love and with God.

The rule of tithing, like circumcision, was only for the Jews. The tithes were to support the Levite priests who maintained the temple and supported the sick and widows etc.
Greek and Roman gentiles were never required to tithe OR receive circumcision.
The only amount that is given in the scriptures for disciples of Jesus to give is 2 Cor 9:7 “what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”.
That’s it!!! There is no set amount, no 10 percent requirement like what the Jews had.
You will not find a rule for Christians to pay 10% of their income.

Yes it’s better to give to the needy. Most church’s have too much money now. But always remember, when you give to the poor, don’t be like the heathens and boast about it, do it in secret so that only God sees it. In secret shows your love and devotion to God. In public shows your love for man’s approval.

This is where most people and even Christians miss it. Giving to the poor and needy is good so as tithing. Bible says Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. Remember ignorance is always unto death, Bible says Obedience is better than sacrifice, the foolishness of God is better than human wisdom. Don’t be like a worldly person who always calculate the tithings and offerings of churches in their mind and always assume and conclude, men of God are taking advantage of church money. Yours is to obey what the Bible is saying and not your own thoughts, if Churches are messing with church offerings their judgment is in with God, just play your part as a believer and leave the rest to God. Remember the mind is the battle field of the enemy, and if you give the enemy the least chance, he’s going to lead you astray to miss your blessings

Christ talks about whatever we do for the "least of these" we do for Him. Read Matthew 25:31-46 about the Final Judgement. Here are some important highlights
Giving to people in need it is giving to God. Matthew 25:37-40 ESV
37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
In the same way, turning a blind eye or doing evil to those in need is doing the same to God. Matthew 25:44-46 ESV.
44Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Tithe is supposed to go to the temple. There is no temple. Tithe was never for the local synagogue or church. It’s impossible to tithe today as commanded. We are commanded to give for various reasons. To help the poor and things like that. However there is no commandment to give 10% to your church. The temple is a completely different thing than a local church.

Just to add to this....one of the old testament tithes was used to support the Levitical priesthood. In the old testament we are all Royal Priests therefore the apostles doctrine (acts2v42-47 and Acts4v32-37) has replaced the tithe. We still give to support the Priesthood and since we are all Royal Priests we give to meet the needs of our fellow brothers and sisters. God sees this as a sacrifice of a sweet smelling fragrance.

Those verses don’t have anything to do with tithing. The tithe was required to go to the temple. In additional to that more giving is commanded to take care of the poor. There is no temple so it’s impossible to tithe however we are still commanded to take care of those in need. If you want a building to meet and worship at then the people will have to give money to make that happen. That’s not a tithe though. We aren’t commanded to give 10% to our local church.

Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the Law in which the Israelites were to give 10 percent of the crops they grew and the livestock they raised to the tabernacle/temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). In fact, the Old Testament Law required multiple tithes-one for the Levites, one for the use of the temple and the feasts, and one for the poor of the land-which would have pushed the total to around 23.3 percent. Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites in the sacrificial system.
After the death of Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law, the New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should set aside, but only says gifts should be “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2). Some in the Christian church have taken the 10 percent figure from the Old Testament tithe and applied it as a “recommended minimum” for Christians in their giving.
Although no tithe is demanded of the Christian, the New Testament talks about the importance and benefits of giving. We are to give as we are able.

This! ☝🏽 Seen way too many people suffer because of the lies the church gives about the utmost importance of tithing. Tithing isn’t a way to rectify ourselves before the Almighty. Jesus is. And in his name and your love for him, you should tithe accordingly. Example of old lady giving two silver coins out of the kindness of her heart. Instead of the Pharisees who gave because of tithing/10% of their High earnings. Mark 12:41-44

    • @Crustee0
      @Crustee0 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Although the figure 10% is debatable, the more important point is what the tips shared in this video says. I feel the 10% figure is a reasonable amount to pick regardless of what one thinks about the source of the number come from.
Tithing/giving is FOR US, so even if some bad churches lies about it to get money out of people, doesnt mean we should decrease or adjust our tithing wilfully. Seek a better place to tithe instead. The reason i think 10% is a good figure to recommend with, is you can definitely still live with 90% of the income. While this might seem cruel to those with lower income, its actually the opposite. If your income is already low and you are already suffering a bit, this is actually perfect chance to strengthen your faith. Will you trust God to take care of you, despite you tithing 10% of your already low income? Or will you fear the future, and trust that 10% income money instead of God? Maybe those who arent used to tithing cant rightaway give 10%, but it doesnt mean we should just abolish the 10% recommended number too.

We are to give according to what a man has and not according to what he has not, but I also know from experience what the Lord does when you give according to what the Holy Spirit lays on your heart to, and to where that giving is to go, it makes a huge difference. If you're asking how much you should give, you're missing the point. It doesn't make you a bad person by any means, and it's a common confusion, but that's not how giving works. We are called to give everything. From every second to every penny, from every success to every joy - it is all for God and no-one else, and that includes yourself. We can all work on this!

This video is wrong, you actually should be giving 10% of your money to the church to supports its general operation, an additional 10% of your money to the church for feast days, and every 3 years and additional 10% for the poor and the widow. Christians are commanded according to not only the New Testament but the Old Testament as well to continue to tithe in such a manner and give 20% of our income every year to the church every year and 30% every third year. If everyone gave to the church 10% of their money and we practiced tithing principles everything would work correctly and our income would cause churches not to struggle financially, if we set aside 10% of our income for feast days we would never struggle to have enough to celebrate the feasts, and if everybody gave the third year tithe to help those in need to poor and less fortunate would be taken care of. If the law required God's people to tithe to the Earthly Tabernacle which was only a copy and a shadow of the true Tabernacle in heaven, why would we not be required to give tithes in regard to the true Tabernacle and the great High priest, yeshua? And your local church should also be tithing 10% of their tithes in a heave offering. Numbers 18:21, Deuteronomy 14:24-26, Deuteronomy 14:28-29, Hebrews chapter 7

The Levitical tithe was an institution of Jewish Law for the upkeep of the Temple, administration, and the Levitical Priesthood because Levites were forbidden to work. BUT, giving to the Ministry of the Lord is definitely a good thing and is required of us. Ministries need financing. Giving of our first fruits is Scriptural, but "tithing" is part of Jewish Levitical Law that went the way of sacrificing bulls and doves. Semantics...

      Exactly.
And if you read on in Malachi, the tithe was of crops and their harvest. To be stored for helping others. There was money around at the time, shekels, talents, but it's crops being referred to.
There is no tithing in the new Testament as it is under the law.
Christ freed us all from the law, Jews and Gentiles.
We can't keep the law, but if we try to keep the law of tithing, we must keep the WHOLE law. The bible explains this in Romans.
Nowhere in the new Testament does Paul say we must tithe.
He tells us to give what we purpose in our hearts and do it cheerfully.
Preaching that those who do not tithe are robbing God is FALSE.
You must RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD, what is for the Jews ..... and what is for the church.

Hebrews chapter 7, 1st Corinthians chapter 9, Deuteronomy chapter 14, Numbers chapter 18, Leviticus chapter 27, Malachi chapter 3. Yes, you need to tithe to your church ⛪! The levitical priesthood is inferior to the priesthood of Yeshua according to Hebrews chapter 7 because Yeshua is a priest forever in the order of melchizedek, even the Levites gave tithes to him through Abraham. Hey right in the video he says if you're going to receive teaching you should pay the teacher, you're using the church's services but you're not giving them any money according to your own words. Just kind of odd

I appreciate that you are earnestly asking. Unfortunately what you’re doing is not tithing, it’s charity/lending to God. (Proverbs 19:17).
Don’t get me wrong, that’s great and we should all be doing that, but if you aren’t keeping track of how much you give and you’re just doing it here and there, then it isn’t tithing and it isn’t the first fruits of your labor, it’s what you have left over.
Giving the first fruits of your labor is when you sit down and figure out your income and then immediately set aside the 10% to God before figuring out your own budget. Each year I take a moment in January to set up auto payment for a set amount to my church to be taken out each payday and I never see that money. (I say this just to give an example of how I do it, not looking to be commended.)
My recommendation would be to find a church that you feel at home in and who’s efforts you support and tithe with them. It’s the best money you can possibly ever “spend.” God bless 🎚️

@@scottsponaas Will take into consideration. In my environment, there is no set “community” I have as I constantly move. But I will consider it. I try to avoid the technicalities of setting aside exactly 10% since it feels disingenuous for me, but I’ll figure it out in time. Thanks for the comment, God bless and Godspeed 👋🏼

@@KBowWow75but isn’t that the Old Testament Law? We aren’t under the Law anymore right? I found this on the internet: “After the death of Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law, the New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should set aside, but only says gifts should be “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2)”

In my experience, giving voluntary tithe is a good personal reminder that everything we get is a gift of God. I remember that I wouldn't have this money without God. Therefore, to show my respect and appreciation for God's gift, I give a tenth to further God's work.

Chipping in this ~>This is where most people and even Christians miss it.

Hello, I will be saying this on the perspective of a Pastor's son.
Church members who give tithes DO give their offerings to God, though the tangible money will go to the Pastor's daily needs, the Ministry cannot run without tithes because pastors lives off grace of god.
It's hard to explain, and I am not a natural english speaker, though Tithes goes to God, by redistributing the blessing to the Pastor or the Ministry, so that the Pastor and Ministry can do more for God. So its a cycle

This is how my family lives, I thank God for His blessings, and tithes arent mandatory, it is encouraged but no one in the church will force you to give your tithes.
So consider this as a donation to the church and for the pastor so he can do more good things for the glory of God.

Generally a tithe is to be given to the storehouse where the needy are given from. That's actually what the church and missionaries are supposed to do with tithes...GIVE TO THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE
So by principle, your tithe should go to a church of God that is helping the people of God in need. Those who have give so that those who don't have would not lack
As a believer though, you must still be generous to those around you, your friends in need, your family, school mates, whatever. Generosity is paramount as a Christian. It's not just to the church

I've been looking for a video like this. I want to give back, but I've been so unsure of how He wants me to. In the Word, things like produce and flocks were given, but their money was almost never given, which caused me confusion. In fact, they would often consume their own tithe on the way to tithe if the trip was too long and would use money to purchase more to use as a tithe. The Word also mentions that the tithe is to be used to feed the homeless, the orphan, and the widow. Then I began to wonder if I should be giving more than just money, but food, clothes, and other provisions. I'm still a bit unsure, but this video did help.

    • @Crustee0

In OT money wasnt a common thing so most tithe by giving their produce (mostly food).
In modern world money is basically a tool to buy most things of this world, thats why no one pays their employee with produce anymore because its simpler with money. Its a currency just like produce representing the result of our work, so you can easily think of tithing with money is the equivalent with OT people giving their produce. We work for our life necessity, but we also give some of that work result to God as gratitude for our lives, that work result can be in the form of produce or money.

For years I struggled to give back to God that which he's already given me. One of the most dangerous things a Christian can do is not only disbelieve in God's goodness, but to attempt to bargain with him. I would always say, "God, when I'm financially, relationally, emotionally, etc comfortable/stable then I'll serve you fully." This was a huge stumbling block for my faith. Through a series of prayer and council in my life, it was shown that I made personal finance an idol, finding my security in my frugality and financial prudence over God's provision.
The point in this is that anything that we put above , God, is an idol, and in my life that was money. Now I give generously (not just my home church but various ministries), I donate the tax refunds I get back from my donations, and I've learned how to pursue God for who he is and not what I can get out of him.

In our case, tithing is helping us let go of materialism. We weren't giving 10% and since we corrected that it's allowed/forced us to nearly cease contributing to our hobbies.
I'm increasingly discouraged by the rampant consumerism and want to break free of the addiction of collecting. Since we upped our giving we've had to die to self. My flesh is recoiling, but I'm getting used to letting go of the urge to update my collections regularly. And I've been able to shift more of my attention towards the things of God.

Tithing is giving a portion of what most deem valuable here on this earth.
1/10th of food, time, and other resources. Its reveals to God that you believe in your whole heart how much He can restore 💕
The Church is not a "building" per say, the church is the body of Christ. When children of God join together then we become the body.
Giving is for us, and not for God...meaning we must give to eachother as a way to Honor God in Heaven ONLY ❤️
Imagine if we all shared our bit of resources with eachother, i mean absolutely none of us would go without. God will restore and multiply for everyone!
AMEN JESUS is the ONLY way to salvation 🙏🏾❤️

It all belongs to God ultimately. If we use the money he allows us in accordance with his will, God will ensure it goes where it needs to go.
The idea that it's our money is a distortion. God has provided us each with everything we have. If we're giving it back to God in any capacity, we must give humbly and in recognition that it's God's in the first place and that giving it back to him doesn't deserve praise or recognition, but humility and the understanding that all the glory is God's.
