This is an excellent no-frills explanation of what the options in the settings actually MEAN - far better than what I could discern from the manual. Not sure I yet know how to tune it's behavior to my liking and needs; but at least I understand which dials I have available to tweak!!! Thank you for posting this!!

Best vid on this unit. You took the time to go through the menu, giving brief, clear explanations for each. THANK YOU.

Great video. Goes into way more detail RE settings than all the others I’ve watched. Clear. Concise.

I have two of these Vikeri E2's, and been using them for a year and a half now to monitor critters in my back yard at night. They are cheap for reasons. At first, they worked famously, but after a while the motion detection began to degrade. Now, a year and a half later, it takes something the size of a deer walking 20 feet in front of them to trigger. One of the cams is a little worse than the other. In the beginning, they would capture squirrels, and even birds, but no longer. I have to set it up to do time lapse on something like 1-second intervals to capture what goes on in my back yard at night, then view the pics each morning. The features I really like about them are, they do take great photos, and good video, even good night vision (but I have auxiliary 850 and 940 nM lighting in my back yard that act like IR flood lights) after dark. I also bought an Oudmon cam at the same time, and it still works as it did in the beginning, but its field of view is way too narrow compared to the Vikeri. I have all three cams with large capacity external battery packs to power them, as using those IR LED's frequently can eat batteries at a rapid rate. I may be interested in their new 4K cam, with bluetooth and wifi, with 3 motion sensors, and they are about $150.00 right now.

Not sure how to format an SD card. Was not aware you had to do that for the camera to work.

I have one question. Do the L.E.D.s light up at night?

I just bought this camera off of Amazon and received it yesterday. Thanks for the breakdown of the menu options, that definitely helped! I am curious though, any idea why some of the models are called the A1 version and some are the E2 version? I emailed Vikeri yesterday this same question, but I assume they don't answer emails on the weekend because I haven't heard anything back from them so I'm hoping to hear from them this week sometime.

I think that the E versions you can connect with WiFi.

This was the reply I received from Vikeri regarding the model numbers E2 and A1, "A1 and E2 are the same model, previously named as E2, and later changed to A1", just thought I'd leave an update in case anybody else was ever curious.

Curious what your thoughts are since you’ve had a few months to use the cams. We bought two and are returning them as the video is choppy and no where near 4k. Looks like 144.

This is weird! Have been feeding a cat in my barn for over six month. It shows up every night. my wife wanted to see the cat eating, so I set up the Model 4K in the barn. That night the cat did not show up!!!
TO the point, every time I put the camera in the barn the cat DOES NOT SHOW UP !!!! No camera, the cat eats the food! What is going on, does the camera put out some frequency that keeps cats or animals away? Can we use the camera to keep varmits away?

I just bought the Vikeri Trail cam shown in this video. It works alright, but I am having a small issue I was wondering if you know anything about. I have the camera set to take 20 second videos with a 10 second lapse between. The first video it captured was 20 seconds, but all the rest of the 15 clips were only 2 to 7 seconds each. Some even cut off after 2 or 3 seconds even though there was action in the frame. Is this normal? Thanks

If the videos are at night, it takes more power for the IR. First step is to check the batteries or put in a set of fresh new batteries. On YT there are videos about troubleshooting game cameras.

@@VentanaMedia Thanks for the suggestions. I have bought eight new batteries, formatted the card, and reduced the video quality from the highest setting to 1080. I'll put it out again and see if that helps.

@@VentanaMedia The new batteries solved the problem. I am using the camera to identify and remove (humanely) a feral cat population in my townhouse complex. Last night the camera captured 30 videos, all of them were 20 seconds long as they were supposed to be. I am very pleased with this trail camera.

After 15 months and little use, I can't make any changes because the menu pad won't respond. It was fun recording animals in my back yard . I'm disappointed.

Can you add a cable to lock the camera to a tree? It looked like that wasn’t an option for this camera. Thanks. PA

"it can detect up to a 30 foot range"
so it can not be use to detect and capture some thieves for bigger area?

    • @beansrgd
      @beansrgd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It is 120 degree wide angle range. Like a fan - so the edge of the frame picks up any movement. The lower you set it naturally it will only catch low areas such as a skunk. If you set it about 8-10 feet height you’ll get tress and medium ground viewing ( preferred). test the video first you can review the angle of the camera to see how high or low you need but higher is better as to avoid theft .

Does the micro usb also charge the batteries?

    • @VentanaMedia

No. If you are using rechargeable batteries, you need to take them out and recharge them with a separate recharger.
