I was actually looking for content that talks about the different brokerage fees of each bank and why some charge higher and some lower! But, I have now accidentally found this video and I wonder if the DY affects the way how they set their brokerage fee! Do you have a video that talks about this? Thanks!
Actually brokerage is a very competitive market and so brokerage fee is more due to the market competition instead of the bank's dividend yield.
You can check out a good comparison of all Malaysia brokers in the iMoney website.

Valuation wise, the Chinese banks are the lowest now

Hi! REITs are mainly good as an income stock. However, due to the pandemic, many REITs are suffering now with the lack of rental income. So I do see them as slightly higher risk now.
I prefer the ones with a strong sponsors like Mapletree, Capitaland or Frasers.

Initially, I had plan to invest in Unit Trust after my home renovation this year. Jeopardised the plan by a double deduction for my PA insurance on the same month with lame excuses which resulted in cancellation of the policy. In 2010, I invested in CIMB unit trust 10k. After 3 yrs, I made 2700 profit. No issues. But now, bcoz of someone any new effort, sure there is an issue in the name of training or opportunity. So I have NO TRUST and no interest. It is so obvious, the troubles are created intentionally.

Maybe we will do one in the future. But generally I don't invest in oil and gas sector at all due to its cyclical nature. It is hard to find great companies within this sector as everyone is too affected by the movement of oil prices

Malaysian banks have changed so much in recent years. They are very restrict, lots of discrimination and the service is awful now.
HLB has the best management team so in the longer run, management makes a difference.

We can estimate it from its loan breakdown. Some banks do break it down in their presentation. You can check their investor relations websites

I hold dbs, cimb, pbb and maybank. Bought them during the last two months. Quite different to compare them based on pb ratio. Cimb pb below 1 but pbb above 1 but investors are willing to buy pbb at premium price for its good fundamentals. For me these four banks are all good long play. Cimb is still traded at good discount now below 4.

What is the difference between Islamic banks / finance compared to the mainstream local / MNC banks? Are there difference in profitability in those lines of businesses?
There have only been studies done on profit between a full Islamic bank and conventional banks with an Islamic subsidiary. It is found that conventional banks are more profitable, maybe that means conventional banks have a better margins. But that difference should be very small
Not much different as what Stanley mentioned. But within Shariah or Islamic financing, there shouldn't be any interest rate as it is considered "haram". The concept of an Islamic bank is to "invest" and get a profit-sharing from the investment, hence Islamic banks use profit rate instead of interest rate.
Since the profit rate is not "fixed" like interest rates, they are subject to the central bank's interest rate policy changes more than the traditional banking model that utilizes the interest rate for lending and borrowing!

Banking stock in 2020 is a NO NO....bad economy and Rate Cuts decrease Banks value amongst investors, invest bank once sign of economy improves and recently all banks cuts their Dividend ( except HongLeong) , eventho all the banks is undervalued now, its better to invest in high growth stock such as Healthcare and Gloves stocks

To invest in Bursa stocks? You can check with your current broker if they have access to the Malaysia market.
Public is indeed one of the best bank out there. But I still feel that they are lag behind in innovation. If I have to choose between PBB & HLB, I will still choose HLB. My preferable bank among those 5, still Maybank then HLB

Maybank has the worse and slowest counter service in the world. You get pissed off at the speed of their staffs compare to all other banks.
And most of them have their mobile phones full time during their working time.
Most of the government agencies and govt link companies must use this bank.
That's why they make easy money from the majority race, the malays.
I respect them as they are very patient people and can adapt and accept with the slow work of the bank staffs.
cust serv counter are worst for most of the banks. i waited for >2 hrs in public bank just to renew my debit card. and, waited >1 hr when i wanna process my FD in Maybank n Public Bank. in short, too many things needed to go thru cust serv and with only 2 counters (some branch got 3) it was utterly inefficient.
