Excellent discussion for the Morgan collector. Nice camera work, too. You gave us the right amount of time to visualize as you discussed each coin's merits. Crazy hobby, ain't it?
@@tylonnplatinumthe3rd659 Not to restart an old thread, but your point as to why the hobby is so compelling--as you say, the nuance of reading dealers and collectors--and I'll add the art and science of grading, the emotional attachment to great eye appeal, the forever search for the diamond in the rough. I'm a Morgan fan. Nice coins. Nearly all my slabs are NGC- Morgans and ASEs at MS64-67........from $500 up to $2000. I'v decided to get some lower-graded CC Morgans😉 for comparison purposes.
That’s great. I always encourage people to constantly step up their collections and eye for grading coins. Sounds like you are with the type of coins you have
Always enjoy videos like this. Some nice coins there. Sad to say, but I tend to stay away from anything that is not PCGS or NGC. I wish we had a good alternative, but those two have the respect of the market and are the most consistent. Thanks!
Cool video. It is interesting watching how they grade from ICG holders to the PCGS grades. I was guessing as you presented them and I was a little off. The 1935 quarter at the end was good icing on the cake from the Morgan showing.. Good buys over all dude...
Just wondering why not get a PCGS platinum membership? For $249 you get 8 grading vouchers that can be used on coin submissions as long as the coins are less than $2500 declared value . It can be applied to raw coins & crossovers too. I think re-grade yes, reconsideration no - not 100% sure, I need to check their website for their rules. Anyways- "just sayin'"
I’ve thought about it. One good thing is it gives either Ben or Drew at acousha a chance to see the coins in hand and often they buy quite a few before they ship them back to me
Ever notice everyone who does the videos always get these coins for prices what lower than us come on man it’s ok if you paid more than what your saying
Do you crack them out before submission or send them in the existing holder for a regrade? Great video, interesting info, stuff I've been curious about! Good to know about the grading tier. Good video, thanks for the info...
Sucks about the TrueView. I think they only do it for MS coins if not mistaken but doh! Now that I’m listening it sounds like you got hosed on all the TrueViews. I’d reach out to them. Altho if thru Ben you may not have a leg. Sucks dude. Still sweet coins tho. Yeah been leary of ICG all along. Can’t trust. They all look so nice in PCGS holders regardless. Thanks for sharing. Noice exchange on the fatty OMG sweet. Congrats
The grade doesn’t matter. I’ve had Trueviews on Au coins and cleaned coins. I think he just forgot to add it to the submission form. It would have been worth the extra $7 on those 2 coins especially the 83p. Oh well
@@tylonnplatinumthe3rd659 I guess you’re right. Now that I think of it, I did get the images for my cleaned Alabama commemorative and the cleaned 1916 Merc! Was so pissed that I couldn’t look at the images lol
Nice submission. I didn’t know ICG was that bad at grading coins! Their standards must have really dipped. I’ve noticed that the newer blue holders seem to have coins that are way over graded. I remember purchasing an ICG graded Ben Franklin half in their old green holders and it seemed to be graded properly. I know you said that you aren’t a huge fan of ANACS but they really do a great job at grading coins. It always seems like they are right with PCGS and NGC on grading. I also like that you don’t need a membership to grade coins with them and they are much cheaper. If you are submitting coins that are worth under $100 I would say it’s a no brained to use ANACS
I agree with you about Anacs. They are great at getting the numerical grade correct but allow more details coins to slip through them Pcgs but not nearly as many as ICG
@@tylonnplatinumthe3rd659 yes, I would say you are correct there. That’s why you pay the big premium for pcgs. I would say you choose which grading company to send coins to depending on the value of the coin and the difference in worth between grading companies.
Pcgs won’t grade Wash quarters as gems unless the cheek is completely clean, and there’s no marks on the eagle I just sent in about 20 from 50 original rolls of quarters 1942-1956. I only broke up a roll I had duplicates of I have two 1943 rolls, one is bank wrapped and the other has at least 10 coins that are lock 66, and extremely likely 67. They’re that nice I’m eventually going to do a bulk submisssion where this roll of 1943s will be part of it along with a roll of 51-D and 52-S franklins and believe it or not a roll of 1965 and 1966 pennies. The problem with the memorials are you can get a modern rate on them as they’re post 1964. The bulk rate is close enough to the modern rate The reason I have pause to sending them in is I don’t want to flood the pop reports If you check the 1943 quarter pcgs guide for example 66 is $72, 6+ is $84, then 7 is $300 and 7+ god forbid is $1k. I’m super confident I’d get a couple 7s after comparing to others. 1943 quarters are synonymous to 1881-S Morgan’s where they’re known to come super nice so that’s the rub. But 5-8 of these coins are borderline flawless with incredibly rich creamy booming luster and no roller marks or die polish lines PCGS just lowered turnaround times .. down from 70 to 55 business days for economy and down to 50 days for regular Yay
Very cool to see all of these. I have an ICG Morgan that I will crack out and send to PCGS on one of my vouchers. Guarantee it’ll come back questionable color or somehow Details lol
Dang crazy your stats on IGC grades. 40% details my goodness. I actually have never bought a coin within an IGC holder. I expected bad results for them but was shocked at how much worse they are then I had originally thought. I sort of lumped them together with Anacs and that was wrong it turns out
Too bad about the true views. All you needed was to send them Gold shield and you get the true view included for that price $22+$5 or $27 Anyway nice coins I made the mistake of not selecting gold shield on a 32 coin submission last October It’s painful
Yah I had the coingeek send these in for me and I think the request for Trueviews got lost in the memo. The 83p is worth sending back for it but not the 79p
Makes you wonder who ICG is hiring. But,I think they are all beautiful coins, nonetheless.Better upside for details coins in PCGS still. But it seems there is more and more manipulation in the grading world
Why don't you show the reverse of the 1879 p I'm only in to the first coin so far and you didn't show the reverse you know you're showing these coins and we're viewing them vicariously through you. We'd like to see the reverse.

Unless you were buying on eBay back then you probably don’t remember how cheap the coins would sometimes sell for. and the pci coins were bought a little later but those will often sell cheap too especially if someone is dumping a bunch of them all at once These are all auction wins and not buy it nows
I agree, rare to see an ICG grade over MS63 that's legit...!
That’s true. Although I did just crack out a 1859 IHC Ms64 in an old green label ICG and it came back Ms64. Maybe there old green holders are better
