The first edition of Alan Herbert's "Coin Clinic" talks about the near date/wide rim SBA. Out of the total mintage for the 79P, the Mint estimates that it struck "up to" 160,750,000 with the near date/wide rim, or about half the total mintage. The reason we don't find a lot of them is that most are still buried in the Treasury vaults. The question remains whether or not they'll have any additional value if and when those are ever released. But hey, it's still a variety though, just not an especially hard to find one, sort of similar to the 74-D DDO half dollar IMO.
The lines on the rim of the proof dollars is because the collar is a 3-piece affair with the legend as part of the collar. The lines are from the gaps between the sections of the collar. On non-proof coins, the edge lettering is added in a separate process with the coin being rolled in a press to imprint the legend. On the 2007-dated coins with no edge lettering, the coins either missed the edge-lettering process completely or the pressure was insufficient to imprint the lettering.
I found a 2019-W War in the Pacific a few days ago. Problem is I've found two other ones in the last few months already. I think it's the only 2019 I've found.
Look in nose of wong quarter , i found two with small partial moon(1/4) raised metal. Discovery coins, who knows. Under you in carolina , Bank ,South State. Also have Alaskan quarter where metal (cud?) Joined two lower claws into one, so he only has 4 claws.
I can assure you better boxes of halves are out there. Of my last two boxes, one had four 90%s, including a Franklin, 3 40%s, and a proof. On the other hand, the other box had almost nothing but 2024-Ps haha.
I like the varieties and different coin videos but I also enjoy the nickels videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge and in a friendly manner 😊
Awesome series! Loved all of it, keep up the great vids!

Thanks for the hunt!
I love your videos they are so awesome
I believe that "line" on the proof dollars is a "security" feature just like on the newer ASEs
Enjoyed this one, thanks. Halves are dead here too- mostly new ones nowadays. Seems like the action is all in quarters and dollars.

I've seen some 2019/2020 P&D quarters marked with a black sharpie perhaps to indicate no W like you see with the halves for no silver.
