Your a life saver , mine is broken and just handing on by a thread with a super tiny hose clamp , buy i am going to but this stuff and be ready for when she blows , Thank you for Idea .
You’re a life saver. Thanks for posting this. I did this and it definitely worked. I would have spent $60 and 3 hours working on replacing the heater core tubing. But this is easier solution. Thanks bud!
I guess the adhesive held up for awhile..? I’ll give it a go if it worked with that plastic.. ( PP is the trade name..polypropylene) Thanks.!!!! I appreciate it..!
HI! was wondering if you still have the truck and if you have had any problems with your heater core or hose? if you have had to replace the heater tube or core as of July 2020? Thanks
Good idea. Giving it a try even though the pipe broke off rough and I may not have enough left. If it dont hold, I’ll block the heater hose with a 3/4” bolt fir now. Thanks for the tip!!
Tried it tonight. The pipe was really brittle. Hopefully it holds. Going to let it dry for a day and recoat it again tomorrow. Hopefully the pipe isn’t broken further inside. Had a bad leak that wet the whole inside of the carpet.
I did this and it seems to have fixed it. A lot easier than having to remove the AC evaporator and the dash and all of that. It's a 1/2" to 3/4" PEX adapter fitting. I just used regular JB Weld, because that's what I had. I was all set to do it the other way and saw this and decided it was worth a shot....
@@banjomanToddTaylor Yep, mine is working just fine! This was a great idea. I wasn't looking forward to pulling the AC evaporator core! Plus all the work. This took me about 20 minutes...
@@tompayne8863 Thanks I got the same kind of JB WELD HE USED I will also sand the inside and use acitone as well to clean it good before I use it how lon has yours held up;.
Question for everyone…. I had mechanic do bypass. So didn’t know which tube was inlet in 2000 Nissan Frontier SE. And don’t know which outlet from engine matches with inlet to heater core. Can anyone help!
How long would you recommend letting it cure? It's around 32 degrees in my garage. Will probably put a heater blowing on it but Omg! I Needed this solution! Driving 35 minutes to work with no heat in a Michigan winter has been miserable! Have a 1999 mercury villager.
Hi there. The epoxy does cure fairly fast. It sets in only a few minutes but i would wait preferably 24hrs to be sure it's fully cured. You can put a heat lamp poor something on it to help it cure a little faster. The curing rate is proportional to the ambient temperature because the hardening is a chemical reaction. Best of luck. Its a pretty good trick i would use it again in a pinch.
Yes it worked out great. Take your time and let it fully cure. It will hold up pretty good. I found that the tubes are separate.from the core so dont need to remove entire heater core but the tubes are like $80 at autozone so this is a decent trick to get by on a budget. Good luck
Yes it did work. Very well. But a little later the other one began leaking so i suggest just do both tube ends at the same time. Trim off like 1 inch of the plastic end if it has not broken off or cracked yet and repair as described.
No it wasn’t loose. Mine screwed in some. Shouldn’t that much have play, unless the tip didn’t break off. I believe this will only work, if the tip breaks off.

Man you saved my butt and it worked
It's still holding strong ? Im thinking trying this out.

Thank you! I'm torn whether to use the original or the plastic weld version....
U could add mercury villager / Nissan Quest to your title as it's identical set up and issue.

I didn't mention in my previous post but my car is a 1999 Infiniti Q45
How long does it last? Or is it a good permanent fix
i have the same problem...Did it work?

I have about 3/16 play with my pex adaptor in the heater core tube. Was yours that loose?
No it wasn’t loose. Mine screwed in some. Shouldn’t that much have play, unless the tip didn’t break off. I believe this will only work, if the tip breaks off.
Did this work?
Yes believe it or not it actually does work... 😀
