Cutting some useful timber and educating and entertaining the next generation in one video 😄. Your son is a chatty little lad, utterly charming and adds another dimension to your videos.
Enjoyed the video. Love to have one of those and a place to cut logs but oh well lol. 😂 glad you got your son learning. Time is the best thing I think to give them. Take care down there!
You don't like the cam clamp 3:45 and I don't like the screw clamps that are standard on the HM 122. Two problems with screw clamps. One is, it takes a lot of time to screw and unscrew them. Second is, it has a sharp, conical point where it contacts the wood. If you don't want holes in your cant, you have to put a scrap of wood between the clamp and the cant. I don't know if you can retrofit 122 screw clamps to your mill, but I went to the trouble to adapt a cam clamp to mine. Love it, but my mill is on the floor, so I can operate the clamp with my foot. I turn my log stops 3:25 90 degrees from the "correct" orientation with the high side toward the mill head so the blade guard has a positive stop. (Yeah, I know. I'm one of the few who use the blade guard.) Love your helper🥰.
They both have their perks, I think I’d like both at the same time, I really need a second one for the long logs anyway. And I actually didn’t remove my blade guard it fell off and I lost it🤷🏽♂️ thanks, I think he’ll be a huge help in several years!
@@Jared-Brubaker I still have my two screw clamps that came with the mill and track extension. I use them when necessary. If you lube your cam clamp, it'll probably be easier to work by hand.
good video and job little guy did great. do you still like the blades better than woodland mills ones. i will need some soon. the washer fluid or dawn have eat wholes in my water tank i have made one out of pvc still have to put it on. take care, be safe and well.
Great video! That kid is sharp as a tack. Excellent camera work. That .055 blade , was that 1 1/2 wide ? I’ll be milling exclusively pine. Northern Woodsman. Thanks!
Appreciate the link for those blades. I’m still good on blades but need a plan for when they run out. My father in law may be buying a sharpening though so I’ll just use his if he does. So far my silver tips are doing fine but have more chatter than the blade that came with the 126.
No problem, I have a guy 45 minutes away that sharpens for $6 but he doesn’t set the teeth, so I’ll probably just get a setter for now. Some day I plan to have my own setup though.

Do you have a phone number for those new type of blades? Did you say they were thinner than the standard woodland Mills blades? Do you know how well they hold up to resharpening? Here in Arkansas I cut mostly hardwood, I've been hearing people talk about the New Riipper blades have you tried those?
I don’t have the number but if you check the video description there’s a link ,it’s Northern Woodsman. No these are the standard thickness, I had been using thicker than recommended. And they can be resharpened at least 3 times. No I haven’t heard of them but I’ll check it out.

@@Jared-Brubaker is he in Cookeville or along I40? I could go that route as well if he’s along any of my normal traveling routes.

Having the Mill must be super handy. Do you have a lot of your own bush?
It is handy, I don’t have much but my in-laws have about 8 acres of woods and I get quite a few logs given to me.
