Wonderful! I'm going to ask my husband to make one for me as soon as possible!
Great!
My mom and I made this today! Instant family heirloom. Thanks to you and your husband for the plans.
That's wonderful, yes, it should last you a long time!
Thank you so much for providing this video and making the specs available. As soon as I showed my DH the video, he got busy putting the pieces together. He's a woodworker and is always willing to make things for me or our home. Now I have my own cone stand and couldn't be more thrilled. It's fits right below my warping board, which hangs on the wall in my craft room. It's so awesome!! I'm considering showing him the reed holder video next! LOL
Oh yay, that is great! Yes, I definitely think you need a reed stand too 😉
Brilliant Kelly! Thank you for doing this video. You and your husband makes it so relatable.
Thank you, Judith!
OMG thank you for this! I am not very handy but can't wait to try to make this - I'm not handy, so may be a few tears, but I';ve wanted one for so long but didn't have the funds. Had one made but it was huge (handyman made it not a DH)...and $100 ...this one will fit better for me in so many ways...thank you so much!!!
Great tutorial. Thank you Kelly and Mr Kelly.
My husband made me this with your husband’s directions. Thanks so much for sharing!
Wonderful, I'm so glad to know! My husband will be happy to hear that too :)
Thank you very much. Even if your husband is not a woodworker as you mentionned he has done a wonderful and very neat job.
Thank you! 😊
I hope to diy this soon! Thanks for inspiring us
You have made this look so simple I am having a go today building my own. Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful, let me know how it turns out! 😊
I had can't recall having seen a drill depth block like this before. So, I paused it and called the husband in to see it. He thought I had gotten him something like this for some gift-giving occasion, but he didn't know where it was. Memory is a funny thing. Anyway, it was a VERY interesting video, thank you.
Awesome make.
Thank you!
Definitely going to make one of these
Kelly that is beautiful!
Thank you!
i am going to make one soon!
Great, I'd love to hear how it turns out!
Please thank your husband for the pattern and video! It is so helpful and I plan to make one soon.
I'm so glad it's helpful to you, he will be thrilled to hear that 😊
Beautiful work
Thank you!
Thank you for that awsomw video and sharing with us!
You're welcome, thanks for watching :)
I was so worried he would scratch such a beautiful table. The design looks so balanced that it would be nice to,know the dimensions he used. Btw you use metric system, I assume you are not in the US
That table has been with us through 4 kids and 17 years of homeschooling, it has plenty of scratches already! 😆 The dimensions are provided in the blog post that is linked below the video. Yes, we use metric, we're Australian.
My husband has power tools (band saw, circular saw, etc) I may ask him to show me how to use them so that I can make one myself. Have wanted to get into woodworking and this project may be my way in.
Wonderful!

They are also called spade bits.
Good to know!
We call these spade bits in the US, but I prefer a forstner bit for this job. A forstner bit creates a flat-bottomed hole if you don't go all the way through, and creates less tear out than a spade bit, especially if you're drilling all the way through (this piece didn't tear out too badly because there was waste wood underneath). I'm no pro woodworker myself, but in my experience regular bits leave nasty holes right around 7/16 to 1/2 inch so you really need to use the right tool for the job.
Make a quick and dirty plumb gauge to help you drill straight up and down without a press: attach a weight to a string and hold it up, it'll always hang straight up and down.
Thank you! 😄
Neat idea !
Thanks! 😊
Omg thank you so much 😊
Ace - more woodworking for my husband :) Thank you! You allow him to cut wood and drill on your table?
Yes, he is careful and we really don't have anywhere else to do it. We've had the table a long time, it's well worn so we're not worried about minor scratches 😊
Great - thanks :)
You're welcome!
Thank you!
Instead of pets walking in the background, you have small humans. 😄
😆
Where do I find the specs?
There is a link underneath this video.
For those of us who don't have wood tools or partners- the lumber store will cut the pieces for you!
Yes, thank you for pointing that out. And if they don't offer a cutting service, sometimes they may have tools for customers to do the cutting on the premises.
