    I'm currently making this warping board, and I used a sled to cut the rabbit lap joints on the table saw. Takes longer, but much safer.

    This is nicely described and makes clever use of readily available board lengths. HOWEVER, it looks like the construction as described winds up with the yarn stretched over the short dimension (34") of the frame rather than the intended(?) long (38") dimension. [The 5" spaced pegs as described are placed on the "on the long piece".] There is room for the same peg pattern on the short boards and the yarn lengths will then be more nearly 1 yard per pass. The images of the finished board also look like their layout was a 90 degree rotation of the layout as described.

    Thanks for this video, Phil. My neighbor knows I'm a hobby woodworker, so she asked me to make her a warping board. I had never heard of a warping board before, so I needed some information. Your video helped me a lot. It's hard to criticize someone who can explain things so clearly as you, and at the right volume, and adds numerals on screen to clarify the layout. I watch woodworking videos quite regularly and while watching yours I thought, this is one of the best how-to videos I have ever watched. But, then...I read the feedback comments. As you know, you made a couple of critical errors. Sorry, Phil, but recognizing your errors and replying to Deidre (below), "but I'm sure people will figure it out" seems a little lame. Again, sincere kudos to you for your clear manner of communication, but a big minus for "sending people down the wrong path". I'm sure you will double-check all the facts before you make another how-to video. Thanks again, I wish you well.

      Thanks for the criticism, Joe. There's always room for improvement in everything I do.

    Ok to fix the 34 inch side, make the holes 7 inches from center instead of 9 and it will work fine

    This does not end up a yard across from peg to peg?

      You could build any dimensions you want.

    hey bro on the 34 inch pieces when i do my line for my outside pegs 13.5 inches from center my inch drill hole is about to interfere with the miter joint is that normal?

    • @PhilCrockett
      @PhilCrockett  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      my pegs are about 2" from the rabbeted ends. Just simply space the pegs out evenly, would be another way to figure this. There's really no rules on space, just as long as you can run your hand between and around the pegs as you load it with yarn. Hope this helps.

      No problem. I cleaned the comments up by deleting the doubles. It happens once in a while. Plus.... you're easy to forgive. Good to know you're as human as I.

    your quantity of board does not correspond with the cuts you have (2) 34 inch and (2) 38 size boards would be 12 feet not 6 feet. Anyone making this board will need 1x 3 x 12 not 6. the four pieces would be 144 feet not 72 (6) feet as stated. I love the construction and this warping board but did not notice myself until I went to cut and one cannot get the amount of pieces from a 6 ft. board.

      hmmm..... I have to admit.... I watched it again, and see what you mean. I should have clarified to buy 2 of the 6' boards.
