Brilliant bench design, Thanks! Your 'bucket' idea for storing those short-medium scrap steel bits is good, in the sense that vertically storing them is better than horizontal. But if I can suggest another approach: my experience with just using a bucket highlighted a few problems (they tend to refuse to stay orderly and vertical and instead tangle together and stick out at random crazy directions like those tank traps on Normandy Beach). A better IMHO solution is to scrounge a couple of off-cuts from some concrete pad reinforcing mesh say 40cm square each (or however wide/long you want your 'bucket'), and four bits of angle-iron or reo rod maybe 60cm long (or however tall you want the 'bucket'). Weld it together so the mesh forms the top and bottom, and the four rods make the corner uprights (weld the bottom sheet of mesh a couple of inches up the rods so the mesh is not sitting hard on the floor). Like an 'umbrella stand on steroids', the grid arrangement of the two pieces of mesh will help hold the scraps vertically, and let you sort them easier by size/length etc, and also retrieve pieces easier as they won't be so tangled together and leaned-over at annoying angles like they would in a bucket.... Also, a safety consideration: storing jagged metal scraps vertically can create a significant (even life-threatening) danger if you were to eg slip and fall onto them, so give some thought about where to place them (eg under a bench) so you're unlikely to end a friendship by impaling someone:)
Pretty much exactly what I wanna build on the outside of my shipping container for working on the equipment that lives inside the container thank you very much
i like the idea of having your wood stack behind the bench. It would be cool to be able to leave the tools attached while it is folded up. I like how it pivots out too, maybe a fold up 3rd leg would be the go. Cheers 4 sharing sir.
His dan gr8 vid again thanx I store any shorter pieces of metal in 4 pieces of open ended soil pipe (toilet waste pipe) 4ft 3ft 2ft and 1ft standing up in a corner using cheap pound shop luggage staps to secure from falling over very handy mine have served me well for the last 15 yrs oh!!! and open ended because of spiders little buggers lol
Nice little project Dan, my main bench folds into the wall as well due to needing the space to park the car . Liking the pivot point I'm surprised you didn't include the rear leg within this build as you always cover the major points on any build ..great to have ya back on Sunday brekkie time
Great project Dan, I also have very limited space to build and this has me sparked. Not a bike build, but, you build bikes in that space and this fits nicely, anything to smooth the work flow.
Hi Dan, I started watching your channel a couple of months ago when I started my tracker build. Really enjoying the content you put out. Wishing you all the best!
Excellent job - I enjoyed this video very much. I built my benches very much like except I use wood (being in Canada, wood is cheap) because they make new trees everyday.
Dan, this turned out exceptionally well. You have some mad skills AND vision, Mate! BTW, haven’t seen anything from our friend in Canada in a while. I hope Tom’s doing ok? Stay well. 🏍👍🏍
Hi Dan, any chance of putting a lock pin in the arm that locks the bench in the up position....if someone bumps it without a lock pin there is some risk of it coming down and hurting someone

Hey Dan, I don't care that it's not a motorcycle video because what you do is always excellent. Keep up the good work.

I really enjoy these videso and they are motorcycle related, because without organisation, you are 90% looking for stuff and only 10% wrenching :)
Whatever you do, I can't take my eyes away. THX DAN.
Hi Dan, great job, nothing worst than having to set the tools every time you need them for a couple of minutes. Tidy and handy . Thanks, Gus
I love the idea of a fold up bench, normally they're quite flimsy but yours looks solid!
Idea'er? Hip hip cheereo. LOL.
Bloody nice work mate.

Well done. Thanks for the pen idea

Bryon Tapp thank you mate, I hope it helped give you some ideas 💡
Mate, that looks mint !!!
Me: nervous hanging a picture.
Dan: hangs a steel framed workbench 🤜🤛
It's a lot of weight up there but It will be ok, I've learned the hard way don't worry :) You seem to learn faster when you make mistakes haha
Love the swing out idea! The whole design is great! Well thought out! That's just given me way to many ideas to work with! Awesome work Dan!
Greg Moppett thank you mate, took a bit of thinking but I got there in the end, hope you have success with your project mate
Nice workspace, very clever idea. 👍

thank you so much, mate. shoot me any video Ideas you would like to see in the future Duncan
Great video Dan. I am short on space as well, I like the idea of a fold up bench. Great job mate. Cheers
Dan great video as always.
Thank you, you inspire me!
Excellent job - I enjoyed this video very much. I built my benches very much like except I use wood (being in Canada, wood is cheap) because they make new trees everyday.
Now this is a sick video. Good job mate
Nice ! Good work 👌
I love your work, I have 2 upcoming projects of my own that I'm super excited to work on. A 1978 Suzuki gs750 and a 1976 Honda cb550.
you could put a thin sheet of plywood maybe 3/8" or 1/2" over length of shelves then the off-cuts would fit as well.
Dan now I feel guilty about my crammed garage, time to build my own racks and benches!
Good work table to optimize space.
Thank you mate, I'm super happy with it

Stay well. 🏍👍🏍
Recently saw a great little storage idea for short and long off cuts by "Home Built by Jeff" a fellow Aussie. Great video.... As always mate!!!!
Love it u ar genius hi from denmark 🤙😎😉
What’s the name of the second drill bit you used after the first one to clean the hole? Thank you
0:43 I guilty looked at my bench. “OK I'll have a quick tidy up".
When you use it it gets messy and its meant to be that way, I tidy up every night so I can start fresh the next day :)
Limited space? I would love to have the space you have!
We always find a way to fill it tho don't we?

Thank you mate, I'm glad you enjoy it
The pen is cool, but if your on a budget just take the ink cartridge out of a cheap pen , it will do the same job 👍

A very good point, Thank you for this helpful comment, :)
Anyone got any recommendations for a motorcycle mechanic around the south Brisbane area?
