Hi Dan as always good videos. A Vapour blaster is a great addition to your arsenal. By the way I’m in Brisbane I’ve been following you since you began your first build. I’m also into custom bike building restorations and you’ve taught me quite a few tricks thank you. I’ve built my own vapour blaster from one of those trade tools dry sand blasting cabinets I bought the plans for it from I think Damien enterprises from NZ he sells home made nozzles and how to build , so I fished out $10 bucks and had a go best I’ve ever done. I’ve made mine with a bucket underneath the hopper which houses the pump for ease of changing blast media. Take out the pump change media add water reset and go takes another 5 to 10 minutes. I’m building 1984 K100 RS I’m at wiring stage haven’t started yet but will do this week pending time. It’s because of your videos I went with moto gadget blue led lights mirrors and the list goes on. Thank you for being an inspiration to us all. Regards John
This is fantastic and I'm so happy I'm able to inspire you and point you in the right direction, I thought of making one myself as I have a good friend that did this, Always comes down to time and not everyone has our skills or tools to make stuff like this so a plug and play unit is the best option for a lot of people
Hi, I have only come across your channel recently. I have retired and now live in Tasmania. I have some old 2 stroke road bikes from the 70s I am working on and find you have a lot of knowledge that will help me. Cheers
🇦🇺 Aussie born and bred 🇦🇺 From Lithgow NSW! Working on getting my first house /workshop then it's time to start shopping for my first project bike! Your videos have been a huge inspiration Dan, keep it up!!!
Just bought a good used pilot air K25 today. Was watching some videos and got routed to yours. Glad to hear how highly you speak of them. Hope it’s still performing well for you. Cheers.
Thanks, I am in the UK, there is a two stage compressor available here from Machine Mart that requires a 30amp supply but your suggestion of running each motor from a 15amp supply is interesting as that is exactly what I have. Thanks Mark
If you're not already using it, I'd suggest picking up a bottle of Rustlick B. Its a concentrated rust inhibitor that you add a little bit to your tank water and any steel parts blasted in the tank won't flash rust. It works great. A gallon of it will last you for some time.
Had the same issue with FAD , then decided to reinvent the wheel , I no longer use compressed air and use compressed water 😎👍 I built my vapour blaster for under $2K and could of done it cheaper but chose to modify my existing hare & forbes blasting cabinet that cost me $1300 been blasting for 40 years and my advice is to experiment with different blast media and mixes 👍
🇦🇺 from Victoria. Love your channel. I never miss an episode. Quality content, extremely well filmed and none of the usual TH-cam dramatics. A pleasure to watch
Thank you for leading me on to this technology. I just bought a sand-blasting cabinet a few weeks ago. Now want to convert it into a wet blasting cabinet. =)
Awesome work mate, Just be mindful of rust over time but I'm sure you know that, These are HDPE Plastic and very strong so maybe look into coating yours or even have a dry and wet cabinet as that's what I have.
I run 2 air compressors to a storage tank If I really need a lot of air for coating removal Single air compressor 18 cfm is fine for glass bead finish I also make cabinets Axis Vapor Honing Industries can also help out if you would like to add a closed loop system
🇦🇺 victoria.. awesome finish but dont recon most people have $4500 to $5900 for a compressor or $2500 to $10000 for a vapor honing technologies cabinet. Lol love your videos mate keep it up.. out of interest maybe you could do a guide on how to vapor blast an entire engine. How to keep the media out of the engine ect.
🇦🇺 The garage envy is reeeeeeeeeal!!! Up in Brisbane mate. Your vids are great, methodical, and excellent for informing and educating. I’m doing an XT600 build atm, every time I’ve got a question for TH-cam, your vids are there and explaining your work in a way that myself, and obviously everyone else can understand. Thanks for the lessons, keep it up! Now to consider if I’m patient enough to find a vapour blaster or to keep on with the fabbing up prior to teaching myself how to weld before I start de-tabbing and frame looping! Thanks again mate and well done! Ps - sounds like that vapour blast cabinet could do with an Aussie dealer/distributor.....
Thank you mate I’m glad to be of help. I’ve been acquiring tools ever since I can remember and had to get certain tools for jobs that I’ve had. I’m glad my videos are going to good use have an amazing day and can’t wait to see the XT600

Hi, Kevin, I'm only a postage drop away if you need some parts blasted and don't end up buying a machine of your own. buy a bucket from bunnings, fill it with parts, slap a label on it and they will come back looking like new :)
Wow great! And this is so coincidental! I really made a study out of the vaporblasters last year since I vaporblasted my previous project. I wanted to do the upcoming ones and parts myself. Outsoarcing it is very expensive. The big aircompressor which needs 380 volts was my biggest issue (together with the size of the thing). And these blasters cost a fortune. There are only two companies in Holland who do commercial vaporblasting which demonstrates how unique the technique is. The most important benefit is that this technique slaps the metal surface flat rather than opening it up which is done with for instance sandblasting. Therefore you bring your material back in original state and keep it protected from the elements and it won't rust. Btw, were you inspired by my vapor blasted engines? I am pretty sure I told you about it the other day?
Hi mate it’s been a long time 😋. Hope you are well, yes it is very unique and I remember us talking about it :) I’ve got loads of people interested in it as well as want parts blasted. When is your next cafe racer project starting? I’m sure you have loads i’ve guys waiting for that on your channel
@@CafeRacerGarage I too thought to help some people out when I would have the cabinet. Loads and loads of people would be helped with the parts vapor blasted. Norman Ashworth came up with the wet Blasting cabinet in the 1950's, nothing has changed, nothing new here!! Just a carry on copy of an Abrasive Developments machine!!
Dan, what have you found is the best mix ratio, media in pounds to water in gallons (if its metric, no worries mate I can convert)? I've look at big industrial units and their suggestions was 15-25% but don't give an explanation of how it is determined...
Interesting I wonder if you could blast your parts on the bike... Apparently not much to damage when it comes to rubbers so hoses should be fine, potentially even the wiring would be ok... Provided the intake is properly sealed and carby too and obviously the surrounding parts are protect perhaps by some thick tarp or rubber mats... I wonder if that is reasonably doable, Iean imagine you could roll the bike in "mask it up" and blast it all without having to remove it... That would be a game changer. I know a 3D laser engraver can be calibrated to skin parts clean but probably too much labour without a dedicated 3D scanner and software. Maybe it is worth a try you know blasting these parts on the bike and see if it is viable to be done.
