    My favorite part of the ori was their aesthetic. The transport rings for example are smooth and refined and the interior of their ships having flowing and organic shapes and the colors they used too.

    You know, after watching this video it helped me realize just how much of the History of SG-1 was brought to bear against the Ori, and that is pretty cool.

    • @RSanchez111

      And to add to this comment, I think the Dakara super weapon was especially cool. Here's the weapon we used to finally kill the replicators, who had been a menace for so many seasons, and the Ori wiped it out in one episode.
      I think it would've been better for the Jaffa to tweak the weapon to target priors specifically. Then it would've been easier for the Jaffa to get the support of the Tau'ri and other human factions, and the Ori warships would still be effectively neutralized. They could've gotten prior genetic material from the Tau'ri to target the priors. Then maybe the species of the Milky Way would've been more willing to defend Dakara.

      @@RSanchez111 🙄 oh please, the jafa had no ability to understand let alone manipulate the weapon to target specific things lol u need to rewatch the show 😂 and it makes perfect sense that the weapon was destroyed cause the writers knew it would make no sense to allow the primitive backwards jafa to possess it lol

    I loved the first time SG-1 destroyed an ori mothership in space combat... it was a sad episode because the Asgard just killed themselves off, but it was really cool to see an Earth ship go toe-to-toe with an ori mothership and win.

      Don't be so sad. Remember tha Asgard could record and replay personalities. They could have recorded and stored all their personalities into the computer cores on SGC ships ready for download should the right conditions appear. Who'd know? Certainly not us!

    Now that the Ori have been defeated, I wonder what happened to their remaining fleet of mother ships. I would imagine that the Priors and the Children of the Ori would no longer have a use for them, seeing as they live typically in what we could describe as a primitive society without advanced technology and their constructed purpose has come to an end. The SGC would be wise to acquire a few of these ships for study and research seeing as how they possess superior technology compared to other races in the SG Universe

    • @jackr2287
      @jackr2287 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They must have some advanced cities out there to produce the advanced parts and provide the welding or molding required to build hull sections, but I suspect they'll fall to infighting pretty quickly, and any technologies they use might be destroyed or dismantled. The Ori give the feeling of having a tight control over the empire, and enforcing a dark ages style as a means to prevent distractions from worship.

      The Aurora class and the city ships would be full of Drones so my money is on them . Then again the Ori dont give a ******** about any rules so they could upgrade their stuff with anything that was learned whilst being ascended . Then again the Lanteans built the Aurora and city ships right before they ascended and there could be a technological plataeu they all hit

    I never understood how the Ori's followers were supposed to build these super-powerful starships in a field, with wood scaffolding and hand tools.
    "The Ori were super-advanced, ascended Ancients. They showed their followers how to build these ships," some would say. But, did they? Their followers were still living at a Medieval level of development.
    If you gave a person all the supplies and tools available at a modern Home Depot, they're not going to be able to build a space shuttle, no matter how good the blueprints are.

    While the Ori story arc was nice for me the show suffered from the absence of Richard Dean Anderson's Jack O'Neil, the new character Cameron I think tried too hard to fill the gap by imitating Jack instead of becoming his own character.

  • @jackr2287
    @jackr2287 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The Ori's biggest advantage with their ships is their cohesive designs. They knew they were building multi-role warships, with systems designed around being effective. So their shields and weapons and electrical systems are probably top of the line.
    Compare this to the Gao'uld pyramid ships. I think they're essentially armed yachts, designed for their look more than their functionality. It's fundamentally a wasteful design, and so they end up reliant on numbers. When Ra was still alive, and they had relative peace across the galaxy, they probably had that advantage, even facing off against the Asgard. But, when facing Earth in ones and twos, they're easy enough that even SG1 can take them down, with the biggest limitation being the secrecy of the program, and how much production can be made on surface to orbit weapons, or satellite systems that can be set into place around the planet. Once USAF spaceships join the Goa'uld are simply headed off.
    Human and Asgards are also purpose built warships, and they hold up much better than the Gao'uld vessels. The Ori have the advantage of Ancient technologies, which are... they could be a lot more powerful, but aren't, for one reason or another.
    The Biggest weakness of the Ori I suspect, is they probably have limitations with how many ships they can field. They still have a galaxy-span's worth, but they don't seem to have technologically enlightened their followers much. They also might fear the ships falling into hostile hands, and so haven't equipped them with the best of the best technologies. Mutiny isn't impossible, and the Ori weren't all powerful meddlers, able to freely at will interfere with the materiel planes.

    These Asgard weapons and shields were still limited by the structure of a human built ship, like only being able to put an engine that would fit in a small car when it would work in a big car. Imagine if they were used on ships that could handle their full power!
    A shame the Asgard didn't stick around to eliminate the Ori after everything Earth has done for them, especially considering they could have crushed them.

  • @sneed457

    What vehicle would not be destroyed by detonating its power source? I'm pretty sure if you detonated a car engine the car would be destroyed

    • @NerdCookies
      @NerdCookies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The most comparable on earth would likely be a ship. Fires in the engine rooms of cruise ships will often disable the vessel but not destroy it. The point is that the power source is so volatile that the entire structure would be completely compromised were it to be detonated.
