Thank you for the great presentation. I now know much more regarding my dry eye disease and a better understanding of the eye in general.

I have very dry eyes and also dry mouth . I was diagnosed with EBMD after having cataract surgery on my left eye . It was really painful , like I had a lot of sand in my eyes. I use Refresh gel drops . I love the Alaway preservative free drops also .They help a lot . But it still is painful at times . I had to wear the shield from the cataract surgery a few times as that eye was very sensitive to light . I also have drops for glaucoma. Thank you for this video . Very informative !

Hello, Katniss. I see that you were diagnosed with EBMD after your cataract surgery. I need to have cataract surgery and went to one of the most respected eye hospitals and surgeons in Florida. I have dry eye and needed to treat it before having cataract surgery. It is sad to say, but many ophthalmologists tend to minimize some of the side-effects of cataract surgery leading many to believe it is a simple and risk-free procedure. It is not. Many people I have spoken with after their cataract surgery are not free of side-effects - from unhappiness with the IOL used to halos and distortions of sight from one form or another. I am treating my dry eye and at the same time delaying my cataract surgery. Fortunately, cataract surgery is elective. I continue to treat my dry eye and wait. Cataract surgery is one of the most-performed eye surgery procedures and generates tremendous revenue for ophthalmologists. I continue to follow the research...and wait.

My 75yo father had cataract surgery and then he suffers from some eye issues which requires him to use eye drops. He's always complaining about his eyes. I really hope to get to the bottom of his problem. Poor thing suffering after surgery at this age.

I was hoping to hear a mentioning of IRPL treatment (E-Eye) for meibomian gland stimulation. It's being marketed quite heavily at the moment, if you search for information about dry eye treatment - but there is very little objective information to be found.
It's quite expensive and apparently works only temporary, but hey, even a year without dry eyes sounds really nice to me...

My eye Dr mentioned using Laser to treat rough surface of my cornea. Does that mean 9th the outer surface is damaged? He said it would grow back.
