- The Korean war marked the first time when helicopters were employed en masse. These vehicles, which were a pretty rare sight before, proved to be an invaluable asset when it came to reconnaissance, troop deployment and evacuation of the wounded. The clear advantages of this type of aircraft, and especially their ability to dodge concentrated fire, quickly caught the interest of the military who applied considerable funds and resources to develop new models.

Fun Fact: Pakistani AH-1F and AH-1S are modified to carry the Bhaktar Shikan/HJ-8 ATGM (With C-NITE Thermals) and were extensively used in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations in African missions like Somalia, Sierra Leone etc. And also against militants on the Afghan border. Pakistan has used the Cobra more than the Japanese TBH, it deserved to be mentioned in this video.

Love the Cobras. No other Helicopters like them. Their Slim design gives them so much more survivability than other Helicopters.
Also, please consider adding the early twin engine Hueys and Cobras ♥️

The reason probably is gunner focus. The drop of the 40mm grenades is far shorter than the minigun, and the aiming reticle only works for the minigun. So if you had the stream of bullets flying and a smoke line falling behind the stream, you'd miss the grenades...
I love watching the gameplay of the vehicles in these videos. Makes them look significantly better than they are in game. You get instantly killed without doing anything 4/5 games
Love how the Huey is the progenitor but the Cobra is the starter helicopter in the US tree so you go from decent helicopter to an older worse helicopter, then that older helicopter with guided rockets.

Whole game is backwards. Top tier Russian mbt T80bvm is from 2014, while they fight against american mbt from the 90s and 80s. Cant let russia slip under that 70%+ wr on top tier xaxaxaxaxa
The only thing that makes the huey better is its atgms otherwise the cobra is better in every way.
@@WerZocktGames don’t forget T-72B3 and T-80BVM also get Gen 2 or 3 thermals. While M1A2 uses Gen 1 thermal lol
because the Huey can carry ATGMs
there would be more people complaining if you progress from heli armed with ATGMs to heli armed only with unguided rockets
@@WerZocktGames well it's a good tank but honestly the fact that gimped western tanks from the 80-90's hold their own against a tank from 2014 kind of shows how much russia fell behind.
Top tier russia wins has more to do with the best early game premium heli and the best heli, with great ground strikers, the best light tank, and a ton of competitive mbt's. not to mention russia gets paired with germany quite a bit
I would love them if the AH-1G didn't go against Ka50 and Ka52 in very single helicopter battle
I think they could carry Zuni rockets, and that might be a bit too much for under 10.7 br

My favourite cobra is the one that saved my section in Afghanistan with its cannon. Wonderful thing to hear, wonder and then see it fly overhead, with the enemy scattering.
Ever since I laid my eyes on the Viper in Battlefield 4, I knew it would be my all-time favourite attack helicopter. Imagine my reaction when I realized it was in the game! I don’t own a premium helicopter, but I still managed to research the ah-1f and I’m a third through with the ah-64a. As soon as I’m done, I’ll definitely research the ah-1z, it lacks a few features like irst, protection and the flexible turret isn’t as good against ground targets but it can carry 16 hellfires ( instead of the 8 with the first apache ) when carrying aim-9L’s and it has to be one of if not the fastest helicopter in the game. Even if it wasn’t good I would still want to be able to look at it and say I own it
Sorry to disappoint you but the Viper ain't really that good. Gaijin have made it quite sluggish, you'll be struggling to reach even 300 km/h and most I've managed to get it to was 330 on an empty load, which is nowhere near the 412 km/h from statcard. Mi-28s and Ka-50s can easily reach over their statcard speed. They're faster and have better acceleration than the Viper and that's fully loaded. Even Apaches have better speed and acceleration,
Too bad it's so heavily nerfed from it's real life state and hellfires are really bad. They're only really good on open maps with no cover & trees and still atakas and vikhirs are way better.
Btw all Apaches can carry 16 hellfires.
@@Under_Tone I'm saying the ah-64a can only carry 8 hellfires when you want the aim-8L's, and yeah I know the viper isn't as fast but it's still incredibly fast in arcade, so good for heli ec and pve
@@maplearrow1842 I have had the AH-1Z since it was added and i still prefer the aesthetic over my longbow apache. Its still very viable even now and much more capable against aircraft
@@GetBlitzedFSND Even the ah-64A is better than the D just because it can carry aim-9L’s. Also I wonder when they’ll add longbow hellfires, because the helicopter was literally named after them and the radar

My favorite Cobra is the AH-1W. I would love to see it in war thunder one day in war thunder. Also, I would like to see the AH-1S and AH-1J in the us tree as well.
Please add the Heli PvE test mode but also add one as RB and Simulator. That would be great.

I love the helicopters I just wish they had a variable BR depending on what mods you take into battle.

I am an old guy that got to fly AH-1Gs for real.
I've always dreamed to fly one of the Cobras in the Phillippine Air Force, they also have some UH-1's (But i think they're used as Medevacs instead of Combat) and they're all cool for me. As long as the PAF has some helicopters, I will dream to fly them once I am in the PAF.
The donated AH-1S will be relegated to training role once they achieve the desired number of T129B Ataks.
My favorite helicopter is the Kamov ka-50. The elegant Black shark
My grandpa was a mechanic on hueys during desert storm but he seems to have a sweet spot for the cobra/viper. He even had a poster of the cobra/viper on the wall before they moved (I dont remember which it was its been a couple years and I wasn't into military aviation).
Oh and we need high drag bombs for our jets… also, thanks for the Marauder. Been asking for it for years. Y’all didn’t get a lot right with it, but at least it’s there.

Ah-1z has all the bells and whistles ignoring ircm making it usually nice to use, but the hellfires can be difficult with their painfully long approach time. At lower br's its not an issue but at top tier with 8km+ sams, ka-50's and the such, the hellfire does feel outclassed. Hopefully either the hellfires will receive their option to guide directly to their targets or maybe the AH-1Z can get its radar jammer
i love the kisarazu cause the TOWs are really good, but i wish we could have AA missiles to shoot down jets
Theres apparently still an argument of people that think the UH-1 and AH-1 are THE SAME helicopter.

I wanted to buy yah-64 but when i heared that squadron vehicles don't have sale so i was dissapointed, why they don't have sale when they don't have premium characteristics like high % of earning sl + rp and being able to search from tier 1 to tier +1 of its tier?
Funny how they don't tell you the pain and suffering of playing the first american helicopter : AH-1G in game
The AH-1G is my general go to when it comes to 8.0 CAS in Ground RB. Though when I use it most of the time its a gamble. Seeing that Germans and Soviets have some of the best autocannons at this BR I'm always cautious considering I can easily get shot out of the sky.
When it comes to load outs the AH-1 is the best starter but the way the Mighty Mouse rockets are they are very difficult to learn and get on target. Due to the angled mounts for the rocket pods the rocket sight in the HUD is practically useless as the real impact point is always going to be bellow the actual sight picture. You never hit close to where you want to hit usually with the rockets.
But the 40mm Grenade launcher is above all the best. Great penetration and good HE filler. It's a menace to any lightly armored vehicle. Not to mention tanks with roof armor on the thinner side. Though I just wish there could be more quality of life fixes for the AH-1G.
Overall the best starter heli.

War Thunder, have you ever thought of adding the AH-1Q? It’s a cobra with BGM-71 tow missiles.
Instead of the Q, it would be better to add the AH-1S( modifed). These were the Q’s that got upgraded engines. The Q’s got the ToW added but the found that the engines that were the same as the G model were not enough power so they created the Modifed S.

@@SuwatWatjinda I really hope they Add the AH-1S(mod) to the game. It could be added to the US and Israel. The Mod holds a special place in my heart as my Army Guard unit flew them and I got a chance on two occasions to fly in the front (gunners seat).

2:44 even gaijin is having a hard time aiming the rockets of this thing. AH1G for some reason is not aligned with the I crosshair.
If it does not have CCIP, it will always show a static crosshair. If you have CCIP, it will instead show the predicted impact point
@@reedman0780 no the rockets are angled upwards making the sight rather useless
@@papakilo-2750 thats because the crosshair is always aimed through the front of the aircraft. It does not take into account the position of mounted weapons.
CCIP changes the sight from static to where it will land on, so if an imaginary ccip crosshair shows on 1G, it will show the impact point instead.
AH-1S are now in the hands of the Philippine Air Forces along side with T-129 ATAK Helicopters. I hope there is a new skin for the Philippine Air Force Set up.
AH-1G with the rotary cannon is a fine anti-air.

How in the hell do you even aim those rockets? I have had hours upon hours in that thing and I still havent been able to nail down using the rocket sight correctly.

Tips on using unguided rockets on helis without CCIP/CCRP?
Fire single rockets and hold the button to see where they land when you think you are on target hold the rocket salvo button for insane rapid fire
monitor your collective. Don't keep it high when you are attempting to aim a bit level or in a dive. 60%-70% will suffice to get them at least a bit more straightened in their flight path
I hope one day we'll have a decent & complete AH-1F cobra mod in DCS world.

AH-1G is useless at 8.0 and should not be fighting Radar AA, or share a BR with helos that have ATGMs. it should be 7.3
Other helicopters that should go down to 7.3 are the starter Japanese and Italian Hueys because they are just awful..
NONE of these helos have AGMS, RWR, CCIP, Countermeasures, or any way to aim their rockets. they are not good vehicles to use and will get smacked by WW2 AA and top mounted MGs. the fact they fight radar AA or get up tiered to suffer even harder is insane when they can only have a chance to hit something via spray and prey from 600m or less. meaning they have to get so close everyone can shoot them.
Ah-1F for the US is missing its counter measures and should also be BR 9.3, it does not have CMs, air to air missiles, or a auto target tracker, and should not be the same BR as hinds which have all of that.
AH-1W super cobra should get added to 10.3 with hellfire Bs and tow 2s. Hydras, APKWS, Auto Target tracker, Aim-9 L Sidewinders and AGM-122 Sidearms.
AH-1Z should be firing hellfire Ks not Bs. but its fine where it is. This helicopter should not be using hellfires that were in service 30 years and ENDED production 20 years before the helicopter was made. besides the B and K hellfires are pretty similar aside from the fact that the Ks are tandem warheads and 15 years newer than the Bs. + that is what this thing actually fired irl so..
AH64As should all be Br 10.7
the YAH-64 should be br 10.0 cuz its dogcrap.. wtf are you thinking gayjin? it doesnt have air to air, countermeasures or anything it needs. why is its br so high for something so useless?
AH-64D should have AGM-114Ls and are fine at their BR.

AH-1F is real good and I like it.
Besides it's also in use by my nation. Pakistan army extensively used it in UN missions in Africa, in Afghanistan and in tribal areas.
I love AH-1F cobra bcz it cleaned my home from pests like terrorists. 👍
