Fascinating! Watching this is like reading a very engrossing book that I simply can't put down.
On a more somber note, I'm still grappling w/ news of Dr. Quinn's recent passing which was so unexpected.
My ♡ aches for his children snd loved ones. What a kind and humble man whose life work was instrumental in setting many of us free from the undue influence of a corrupt corporation.

I don't mind that they get paid. I mind that I grew up being told they were not being paid. It was taught in many lessons as proof of it being the only true church. I love Michael Quinn 💕

And this practice is in essence "corporate humility." Arrogance at it's finest!

When I stopped paying tithing, I paid off my college debt of nearly 20,000$ in less than 3 years. I invite everyone to do the same.
I think impoverished and college-debt ridden members shouldn’t be pressured to pay tithing, but should be encouraged to liberate themselves from poverty and debt.

Tithing which goes into a business that generates revenue appears closer to Money Laundering.

Very comforting and faith-promoting. I needed that. Thank you, brother Quinn.

Is it just me or does John seem annoyed when Mike shows any admiration for the church?

Coming late to the party...Missing from Quinn’s information is do the GA’s have to pay taxes for that $120,000? Because if they don’t, that is a very tidy sum of money. Also, the expensive gifts they receive can be seen as a way to ensure the giver gets something in return, whether that be a prestigious calling or the ear of the brethren. That smells bad to me. Quinn also mentions what so many TBMs argue-these men would be so much richer if they’d stayed in private life. A) What does this say about which men are picked as the “Lord’s anointed?” Mostly the wealthy or well off ones. B) These men would have to quit working perhaps in their 60s to early 70s. And as a quorum member etc, they get the full benefits for life. That’s a huge bonus.
Also, it doesn’t sound like Quinn knows much about whether they’re currently given free housing and additional expenses paid for. So that initial $120k would go even much farther.

I would think not if its a living expense I also would think they don't have to pay tithing.

It seems like Dr. Quinn should be allowed to re-instate his Church membership.

I'm on Social Security Disability and I was told that I couldn't get anymore help with food unless I payed tithing on my meager $1073 monthly income. I paid for four months then I realized that my $107 per month tithing was more than my monthly food budget. I quit paying and then I quit attending.

The church has no business grabbing tithing money from disabled people on disability. That is abuse of the needy person and a waste of government funds, and I wish the Gov would put a stop to it. Catholic Charities provides food help even to those who are not Catholic. So do many Protestant churches. The LDS church should be ashamed!

Dr. Quinn is amazingly balanced as to his statements about the church's finances. It's good to see that.

    M. D. Hanks. It’s called radiant wealth. 100 ft. windows, 🤪gees. Donated. If anybody deserves a salary its my bishop, the dude works hard.
So much for lay ministry. How much would Christ make? Want? ...so that he doesn’t struggle.

I suspect that the only Mormons who now defend the faith vehemently are those on the inside, i.e. the top brass so to speak (the "apostles" and upper management) who have deeply vested personal interests, plus members who are not fully aware of the actual teachings and doctrines of the LDS organization.
For example, how many members know about Kolob? Or that Joseph Smith claimed the moon was inhabited; or that Brigham Young claimed the SUN was inhabited?
Are they familiar with the teaching that God was once a MAN and through his behavior became God? Do they know the LDS doctrine that after death, men become founders of new universes, become Gods themselves?
Do they realize the extent to which temple rituals are based on Freemasonry?
Do they know the history of Joseph Smith in detail, for example that he was deeply into the occult?
Have they researched the "Book of Abraham"? (an egregious fraud, easily exposed by Egyptologists)
Are they aware of the astounding similarities between the "Book of Mormon" and other books written before the BoM, relating a supposed Jewish ancestry to native Americans?
And do they know that DNA analysis has proven that the American Indians' ancestors were NOT Jews (Israelites), but Asians?
I have no doubt that with the increasing availability of information, through the Internet, there will be a rapidly accelerating fall-off in the Mormon church --- and their missionaries will experience more and more resistance in their doorstep visitations.
When my spouse and I were approached many years ago, the story of the "translation" of the "Book of Mormon" was that Joseph Smith used a "urim" and a "thummim" formed into spectacles to read the plates, but that's been changed, and now the LDS organization avers that Smith put his seer stone in his hat, stuck his head in his hat to keep light out, and DICTATED the "Book of Mormon" without looking at the metal plates!

And look what Brigham Young accomplished! He brought a group of fleeing Saints together and they built a beautiful city from nothing and fulfilled a great prophecy, summarizing, that the Lords House will be built in the tops of the mountains and all nations will flow unto it. The Temple at the top of the Rocky mountains and people from all over the world comes to it pretty much fits that .

Brigham Young mixed his own personal funds with the tithing funds. Instantly wealthy. When he died, his wives had to sue the church to get any money back.

Go pick on some other organization you don’t like and leave the Church of the latter day saints alone!
