This podcast was an odyssey. Truthfully, I’m not their target demographic, I don’t watch anime, I don’t follow any of the hosts and only found this podcast by chance because of their NileRed episode. But I was spellbound by Aleks’ story, he told it so beautifully it genuinely made me emotional, cheering for his first success in LA, flabbergasted at his uni exam results, and heartbroken at the thought of a 14 year old kid being essentially abandoned in another country to fend for himself but ends up finding purpose and joy despite his circumstances. I hope he finds the peace and contentment he’s looking for. For someone who grew up on unstable ground without support from parental figures to pursuing a career in such a volatile industry as entertainment and actually finding success - he deserves to take a moment to catch his breath.

At 16:20 - Garnt's experience of being invisible in high school is common among second-gen Asians. I think Asian immigrant parents are completely ignorant in knowing that yes, your children might be educationally/financially advantaged compared to you but there's a huge social handicap in just not being able to blend in and don't be surprised if your kid is a loner or very shy. This intense striving for all this 'American/Western Dream' stuff when you can't *fully* assimilate makes the striving kind of redundant. Immigrant parents should want financial and *social* success for their kids, just my two cents.
Assimilation kinda has a meaning of “abandon your minority’s identity and culture to resemble majority group’s values, behaviors, beliefs”. It’s better to use “acculturation” or “integration”
@@ryana5435 I dunno about this, though it does have that feeling of "giving up" your heritage, I don't feel as though that's necessarily shameful. You intrinsically will have to give up aspects of you/your family's previous way of life when you move to a different culture, that's assimilation.
Didn't expect Aleks to come on, what a pleasant surprise! This guy is an absolute memer and a great voice actor to boot, I love him and happy to see him come on as a guest!
Everything Aleks says about his upcoming and how things came to be are all like make it or break it moments and holy shit I can’t stop smiling when he said he succeeded or something worked out in his favor along with other finer details. In a way he really is the main character and I agree his life could really be a movie or a short film.
I quite resonate with Aleks story. Not even remotely the same industry, but after spending so much to study overseas and wasting so much time trying to find a job, I finally am getting a close to my dream in working and living in Australia. Shit ain’t easy, but i think he said it the best by having the right level of confidence and arrogance to bullshit your way through and actually doing and achieving it.
Aleks was definitely not on my bingo card for trash taste guests, but a welcome one. I'm starting to appreciate more dub work recently, so having him on to talk about his career is more than welcome. Now bring Junpei (Zeno Robinson) on next for some Brokeback Tartarus shenanigans
Already rewatching this episode because it is definitely one of the best Trash Taste episodes! I‘m grateful to hear this inspiring story. I think it is amazing of him to be so honest about his past wrongdoings caused by being simply human in unfortunate situations and a hard industry. I‘m sad to see some people in the comments label him as a bad person because of these things… (and if you have never been in a situation so dire you had to lie you must be very privileged tbh.) It‘s respectable and inspiring how he is open about imperfections yet he‘s impressive and funny! Also respect to him for being good at telling stories. It must not be easy to condense such a long story into like an hour. Also, I‘m sure everyone is saying this already so sorry for being unoriginal but he‘s got no reason to be insecure about his smile, his smile is super cute!
the talk about the "i have no enemies" thing and the pauses in japanese reminds me of advent children dub specifically at the end "stay where you belong.... in my memories" and the response is so weird because they matched lip flaps because he responds immediately "I will............................... never be a memory" but obviously i just hear "stay where you belong, in my memories" "i will"
That freaking movie was marketed back then that have a star studded cast of great VAs. I watched it solely for that. And was oblivious it was a a Happy Science anime mythology for their cult. Granted I immediately forgot all about that movie until Mother's Basement made a video about it then for some reason when he was summarizing the story it felt as though that I had watched the movie. Until at some point I rembered I did watched it and kept laughing I unknowingly watched a Happy Science Anime
Aha! I knew it! When he mentioned the cast list, I immediately got flashbacks to Mother’s Basement! No wonder he didn’t want to talk about that gig much. Probably not one of his proudest moments having voiced in a cult-propaganda film.
I really like how this internet funny guy is also actually a serious voice actor who voices in some serious heavy hitters, but he still chooses to shitpost. A man of the people
His scream on the awakening scene of Persona 3 Reload got me hyped af, I think recently Aleks is blowing up in popularity and I'd say it's totally deserved Edit: Currently of the edit of this comment, Aleks is live on twitch rn joined with Fuuka's VA Suzie Yeung!
DUDE YES. I've first heard of Aleks from his dub of Caimen from Dorohedoro. Ever since, I've been so proud to follow all of his works as he worked up to where he is now! Awesome to see him on Trash Taste, would have never guessed this crossover!
To be honest, this episode almost made me cry. Not only has the release of P3R made my childhood so happy, but hearing Alex's voice as well. Didn't really know who he was before, but now I'm excited to see his works! As a second-gen. Southeast Asian, I can relate to nearly all of what he's talked about. It really warms my heart hearing someone actually put this all into words. I hope one day I can have the same drive as him. Keep working hard!
This is the second time I'm so invested in watching a whole episode of trash taste. Most engaging and very progressive storytelling along with Pete's first guesting episode. I still rewatch that episode from time to time.
No thanks, it was pretty boring episode as it is. No hate for the man of course. Just nothing really new. We already know how VA industry works from Conor

If anyone's wondering, after some googling I believe Aleks's first role was "Laws of the Universe Part 1". Tom Kenny, Yuri Lowenthal, Josh Keaton are all in it, and he plays a villain named Dahar.
Crazy that one of my favorite voice actors BSed his way into the industry. The man is incredible at what he does and has brought life to so many characters that I love and helped me to enjoy English dub. Literally rewatched Solo Leveling in English just for him
Honestly I rarely sit through an entire episode of any type of podcast unless the anime based episodes or cool guests. But the way Aleks explains his stories, is extremely transparent, well spoken, and real with himself and reality, it made me glued to the screen. Really just felt like getting to know someone’s story and struggle. I even felt anxiety for his lifestyle, responsibility, and way of life in his early stages. Really felt like we went on a journey of his entire life and I oddly want to be friends with him. Also I loved how aware and honest he was about religion, his luck, and the feelings of not being happy. Usually all conversations of religion try to convert you or dismiss you but I understood exactly where he was coming from. I was suppose to sleep at 1am and finally break my insomnia streak but here I am at 3:09am writing this comment. I respect him, feel inspired and motivated, and also tired af. Suck an awesome and chill dude. AND he likes Gintama which is the true mark of greatness. This is probably my favorite TT episode even if we include the anime based ones. Great episode!
I just love the support and understanding the boys gave to Aleks to express his feelings of being burnt out and how exhausted he is, he recognises he's in an extremely fortunate position and he's worked genuinely so hard to get there, but he's also human. It really makes me see where he comes from like how he describes zenitsu. He's achieved great things but even he feels tired, and the boys allowing him a space to express his guilt. Well done, this is the type of thing more men need, and props to Aleks for being able to communicate in such a healthy way
I met Aleks Le at a con just before this episode dropped, and he is one of the nicest people I've met. Deserves every bit of success he has gotten thus far!
the progression of me starting with this episode like "oh, new guest, cool" to "i am in love with this man" is embarrassing. I just freaking love his mindset and personality, like just wow.
I took a pretty long break from listening becuase I’ve beeen listing to comedians podcast but I forgot how funny the boys are. U guys did call back jokes. That’s literally professional comedian stuff. I was dying when rent a gf came up. So funny! Can’t wait to catch up on all the episodes I missed.
persona 3 reload was my first approach to persona 3 at all and I loved all of the work the cast did, I’ve really grown fond of everyone’s interpretation of the characters I cannot wait to watch this video once I can !!
I really resonated with Aleks's life in a way. I had a really bad mom who ruined my childhood and I still suffer it's reprucussions to this day. I was so alone during my Bachelor's degree and in school (the entirety) and nade the executive decision to spend a fortune to move to Denmark, out of complete randomness. While I'm still struggling mentally all the people I've met so far are so supportive and friendly and it feels like I've finally found a community of people who I can rely on.... it took me 22 years to find sone semblance of emotional stability... I wish no one had to go through so much just for some emotional stability, but sometimes, life isn't fair.
Came here because I saw the shorts of Aleks Le from TTshorts and it seemed fun. The lore dump was fun, I enjoyed the chemistry and atmosphere from you all. Fun watch and I enjoyed it.
Learned about Aleks through Solo Leveling and his mind blowing performance there. Incredible how much English voice acting has come along, because to me it was genuinely on par with the sub and that practically NEVER happens for me. Keep doing your thing Aleks!
This is definitely lucky for me this was the podcast I needed to hear. Been doubtful about pursing a better job in my carrer but after seeing this and listen to Alexle story Im inspired to try bettering my without a doubt
Banger episode, Aleks is such a great storyteller and the stories are crazy too! The superstitious "balance" system is honestly same 🤣Literally had that happened today when I felt slightly happy with my work yesterday, just whatever is up there trying to pull a fast one on me. The ideology on dubbing those characters are really amazing too. Not focusing on showing off and "leave a claw mark" but bring more opportunities to more potential audiences.
Aleks Le is incredibly funny I remember a couple years ago at Fan Expo Toronto during the demon Slayer panel with him, Zach Aguilar and Abby Trott when they were asked who their favorite demon Slayer character is he said Tengan because he has three wives.😂
Usually I'm not a fan of guest episodes but honestly this is probably one of the best guest episodes in a long time, do wish aleks could share more but i respect his privacy. Definitely inspired me to do better things for myself and achieve my dreams.
no wonder he crushed it as Sung Jin woo, man has been through hell only to barely scrape his way out, sometimes screaming and breaking his voice in the process, such protagonist powers makes it feel like he *knows* what it’s like to be there and that’s why it shows
For those wondering what was his first ever voice acting role, the one that he's asked about at 45:33 but didn't say - I did some research and it was "The Laws of the Universe Part 1 (2018)".
This whole episode was soooo beautiful. Like sometimes in the other episodes of Trash Taste the amount of times I want to break into their studios to berate their comebacks was so hard. This felt so peaceful in comparison.
I found out about Aleks from Persona 3 Reload just recently after I got the game, I started watching his P3R gameplay and I fell in love. Now I'm even more in love! 😭 I relate with him so much, we're the same age as well and have been through a lot 🥲 I wished I were stronger than him back then, but better late then never! His story truly motivates me!
Aleks! I have the same observations. I go through some bad cycles that lead to awesome things. I am committed to it! We are just part of something bigger. We are given lessons to learn. And there’s an awesome realization at the end. Let’s keep learning!

Ngl this is probably one of my favorite episodes of trash taste ever. Aleks's story was fun and interesting to hear and he did a great job telling it!
Aleks is literally Nagito from Danganronpa. Luck coming in waves to the point where he could time his good luck and accept the bad
And in a lot of cases the social is the most important of all (especially since it can help with networking)!
This is why we should tighten the borders and avoid letting them in
Assimilation kinda has a meaning of “abandon your minority’s identity and culture to resemble majority group’s values, behaviors, beliefs”.

Kinda curious, why Australia? 😭
not everyone has perfect and easy life like the boys
I imagine his parents are still waiting in Florida like "Anytime now"
Aleks was definitely not on my bingo card for trash taste guests, but a welcome one. I'm starting to appreciate more dub work recently, so having him on to talk about his career is more than welcome.
Now bring Junpei (Zeno Robinson) on next for some Brokeback Tartarus shenanigans
you know what? bring every VA from P3R on here, that would be nice
Kaggy would also be neat
Alejandro would be dope since he's already acquainted with Garnt
@@Sinistralitee and the old VA's they are underrated.
Wtf this is one of their best guest episodes dude is insanely entertaining and an amazing storyteller
This guy is the definition of a Hustler. God damn amazing focus and commitment to his goal no matter the method.
Aleks Le lore goes crazyyyy. He's one of my fav newer VAs and hearing about his journey makes me appreciate his work even more. Keep going 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Aw, this was so cute.
the talk about the "i have no enemies" thing and the pauses in japanese reminds me of advent children dub specifically at the end
"stay where you belong.... in my memories"
and the response is so weird because they matched lip flaps because he responds immediately
"I will............................... never be a memory"
but obviously i just hear "stay where you belong, in my memories" "i will"
For anyone wondering, The Laws of the Universe Part 1 (2018) was his first role and he played Dahar an evil alien.
A man of the people
In case anyone’s wondering 45:25, Alek’s first role was Dahar from The Laws of the Universe Part 1
Aleks is such a great storyteller, love when guests go deep into their backstory. Such a cool and charismatic guy, one of the best pod episodes yet
His scream on the awakening scene of Persona 3 Reload got me hyped af, I think recently Aleks is blowing up in popularity and I'd say it's totally deserved
Edit: Currently of the edit of this comment, Aleks is live on twitch rn joined with Fuuka's VA Suzie Yeung!
Oh nice.
Aleks has very quickly become one of my favorite voice actors in the anime dubbing scene! His background story was very cool to hear!
DUDE YES. I've first heard of Aleks from his dub of Caimen from Dorohedoro. Ever since, I've been so proud to follow all of his works as he worked up to where he is now! Awesome to see him on Trash Taste, would have never guessed this crossover!
Based Dorohedoro enjoyer
I fuckin love dorohedoro. Very excited for season 2.
Keep working hard!
this might be one of my favourite episodes, its quite different from the usual ones but it was really insightful - would love for another ep w/ aleks
geez, aleks bad luck is borderline unreal. Take care, man. u are doing hella good job but take a break when you need to. This episode has been great!
He is such a great storyteller. Also very calming voice

This is the second time I'm so invested in watching a whole episode of trash taste. Most engaging and very progressive storytelling along with Pete's first guesting episode. I still rewatch that episode from time to time.
I love Jan's episode too! To me is on the same level as these ones.
Fantastic episode, probably my favorite yet. Aleks tells stories in a way that’s impressive and keeps the audience engaged

So funny! Can’t wait to catch up on all the episodes I missed.

persona 3 reload was my first approach to persona 3 at all and I loved all of the work the cast did, I’ve really grown fond of everyone’s interpretation of the characters
I cannot wait to watch this video once I can !!
This is one of my favourite episodes of trash taste. Aleksle's story was truly inspirational and he deserves all the success!

no wonder he crushed it as Sung Jin woo, man has been through hell only to barely scrape his way out, sometimes screaming and breaking his voice in the process, such protagonist powers makes it feel like he *knows* what it’s like to be there and that’s why it shows
