There’s a long list of amazing side characters that really manage to stand out of their series. And while we could list a ton, I would actually like to recommend one from a recent series that shines through the entire cast of their series… Hisui Kanon from Ranger Reject. She’s what I like to call “The Guard Dog”. Loyal to those closest to her instead of an entire group, sharp instincts and always ready to attack any threat, difficult to build a bond with at first, willing to make the hard choices, to fight for what they have, and can carry their own weight and others for a time being. But above all, is adaptable to any scene or dialogue they can be in due to their personality and position. Because of that, their presence can fit in nearly any scene with any group of characters because they’re so flexible. They don’t necessarily have plot armor, they can be a solo character who just knows when something’s wrong and how to react accordingly. They’re best with a group but GODDAMN can they carry themselves. Hisui Kanon manages to be the best version of this trope in recent anime/manga which I believe is the best kind of side character. Other examples being, Levi, Killua, Chifuyu (TR), Mustang, Ace, Kishibe (CSM), Alexander Anderson, Bedivere and Dantes from FGO, Bucciarati, FF, Gyro, Starlia, Rebecca (CPER), all to name a few. I’m not saying Hisui is a better character than all of them, but she’s a more solid “side character” who’s still not exactly a “main character” in her respective series. Hisui learns D’s secret but doesn’t hate him in the least, in fact, the two share an unspoken trust and respect for one another and will actively violate normal conventions to help each other out. Despite ideologically believing in the opposite of what D wants, Hisui continues to defend him simply because she enjoys his company more than the rangers, she won’t help him with world domination, but she’ll have his back in a fight. And the true highlight of this comes when they fight Death Messiah and manage to trap him. Despite D being trapped with him, he will outlive him and only needs to be patient, but without hesitation or notice despite her injuries, Hisui offers to be their guard throughout the entire ordeal, a job only she would do. And the two silently accept the other’s decision and trusts one another. She isn’t loyal to D, she isn’t similar to D, she doesn’t even understand him, she trusts him and that’s all she needs to follow through with her choices. “Guard Dogs” are just those that manage to differentiate “Main Characters” from “Side Characters”, and/or “Allies” from “Threats”, without being either the “Lancer”, or the “Mentor”. They’re the sole character who stands in between both sides and gets to be themselves. They’re _just_ important enough for the writers to keep them around for the future air they experience virtually zero character assassination and get to remain consistently great throughout their story.
Captain Yami from Black Clover. Dude had his own shonen adventure story before the events of black clover and it would probably make a fun show to explore it.
Truly living up to the podcast's name. If Bakugo were the main character, I would've dropped MHA episode 1. The Midoriya hate is seriously unfounded with the only argument ever being "he cries too much".
Yeah MHA already gave us a lot of Bakugo's pov and a redemption arc. Bakugo being the main character would be extremely weird because Bakugo's character arc is realizing that he's not the main character and that everybody else isn't side characters in his story.
Here’s a video game level that I hated as a kid, in Epic Mickey 2, there was this part of the game where you had to coat yourself in invisible ink but you had move slowly or else it would come off you, and you had to get past a camera, but the my put the camera at the top of these stairs that only had two large steps, but you had to jump up them, meaning that the ink would come off really easily making it impossible to get past, my little sister mainly this game and couldn’t get past it so she got me to try and do it as even I couldn’t, and it’s been over 10 years since then, and we can never attempt it again because our Wii doesn’t work anymore
Ironically enough, they did create a filler arc in the Naruto anime that focused on Itachi's backstory in greater depth. He had a love interest, showed his friendship with Shisui, the whole 9 yards. Episodes 451-458 of the anime if people are interested.
Judeau Lan Fan Misato Katsuragi And Aki from Chainsaw man. Oh, and for game levels i would go with the jetbike level from Contra 3 and the Eternal prison from Blood omen 2.
I'm not saying that either fern or stark would play a better role of the main character than frieren but I'd love to see a story that's FULLY dedicated to either one of them.

Gojo ( as you said if gojo be the protagonist whole story will be on hold .an anime which will counter your statement is Mob pshycho 100 ) And Gon is the most unique Main character....no one should be the protagonist apart from Gon (character having good backstory is great but if as a protagonist one's so unique like Gon , so much we can do with him.. Toji is the perfect answer. His entire life is a perfect setup for the story of an anime MC. His story is the most realistic in jjk and with perfect conclusion as well
Vegeta, Kenpachi, Bakugo, Escanor, Boruto has been done already lol, Maki, Guy Sensei, Katakuri, Itachi, Levi AOT, Cosmo KENGAN ASHURA, Sasaki Kojiro record of ragnarok, Jiren, Mirio Boku no hero
Just another comment that I hate how the anime community calls everyone who is not the protagonist a side character. It's a terrible way to categorize characters literally.
On the topic of maps, idk if that count, but years ago on my birthday I got stoned for the first time and... admittedly pretty drunk. I know we started watching movies, and when I came back to I was on world 3 in DKC. Apparently I played all the way without losing a life... or knowing we weren't watching movies anymore. So I guess all 3 SNES DKCs would be it for me.
I would absolutely watch a show about Toji Fushiguro... As a 'deadpool' kind of anti hero. Navigating the political landscape of Jujutsu and his family
Naruto: I remember sawyer7mage comment about how Naruto's side characters are so good they could easily become the main character of their own show! Of course the show thematically only works with naruto as the main character, but having an Itachi story would bang so freaking hard!! Would be like a mini-aot in tone I feel like! The itachi filler did NOT live up to the potential because it was in the hands of random writers who didnt even follow the books. I want a real itachi movie written by kishi!
The bridge levels in Crash 1 (Road to Nowhere, The High Road) are nowhere near as hard as some people make them out to be. It's just rhythm and depth percetion that once you get down it's should make the run fine. Plus, they have plenty of checkpoints in between. You wanna talk about difficult levels in that game? Try The Lab, Sunset Vista or the infamous Stormy Ascent (neither are the woat though).

Yuta as an mc would be boring, he already reached his conclusion after the movie so you realistically couldn't stretch it out for an entire series, not like Yuji whose an incredible lead for a world as merciless as JJK.
yuta is never going to work like MC because he already have a finish character in the movie and...
like gojo is to much op to be a MC, yuta too doens't work because he is much powerful
The Midoriya hate is seriously unfounded with the only argument ever being "he cries too much".
fr
Deku is a lot more complex than he’s given credit for, especially why you realise his entire character is autistic coded.
Yeah MHA already gave us a lot of Bakugo's pov and a redemption arc. Bakugo being the main character would be extremely weird because Bakugo's character arc is realizing that he's not the main character and that everybody else isn't side characters in his story.
Their MHA opinions suck most of the time.
Nope it's valid
Nobody likes whiney boys
I would literally choose Maki over Itadori, no beef with him just the writer didn't slightly tried to make him interesting.
Joey and Garnt forgot about LORD PAIN!! 😭
Dazai from Bungo Stray Dogs
Hiromi higuruma from jjk
Ironically enough, they did create a filler arc in the Naruto anime that focused on Itachi's backstory in greater depth. He had a love interest, showed his friendship with Shisui, the whole 9 yards. Episodes 451-458 of the anime if people are interested.
I find it hilarious that ppl that say bakugo haven't realised that bakugo's character cannot work without Deku
I agree with Garnt 100% the Blood Gulch map in Halo so heavily goated!
Joey FUCKIN wheeler
The psycho pass OVAs where they follow the 3 different enforcers/inspectors is pretty dope especially the ex drone pilot enforcer
Judeau
Lan Fan
Misato Katsuragi
And Aki from Chainsaw man.
Oh, and for game levels i would go with the jetbike level from Contra 3 and the Eternal prison from Blood omen 2.
I think a shanks spinoff would be very interesting, given how little we know of him, and how much aura he has.
I'm not saying that either fern or stark would play a better role of the main character than frieren but I'd love to see a story that's FULLY dedicated to either one of them.
Zoro from one piece.
Like Zoro a lot, has a lot of great moments but personality wise he´s too bland of a charcater to be an MC I think
the story would be the same
@@PedroMartins-nf1yf nah I know bland and zorro isn't it if he can make me laugh and has a reason to fight I can get behind he's green
Hell nah
Nah
If anyone wants a itachi as the mc the light novels for him is legit what that is it only focuses on him and is incredible so many extra pieces of information about him
Bleach from the perspective of Aizen finding out the Soul king secret and planning
Defo not
@@doublea4012 why lmao
The podcast was very interesting, I'm glad to be donating to the patreon to be able to watch this early
Same
Almight is the only right answer.
🤡
The village from RE4 is peak, cant believe the boys havent played it
Mirio in MHA
Monster from the perspective of Inspector Lunge would be something worth watching.
The only reason people don't like Zenitsu is because he represents everyone who watdches the show and how they'd act in those situations. 😂😂
The people that hate zenitsu for being a coward would do worse than him if they got transported to the demonslayer world.
Nah people don’t like him because he’s weird around women.
Nah, personally I don't like him because of his overly whiny behaviour. He's like Season 1 Armin from AOT but way worse.
@@crocoboi7936Keyword being transported. Zenitsu grew up in that violent world and he's not a normal civilian either so I don't know how your comparison works.
Nah hear just annoying. I can understand freaking out when facing demons but he’s just annoying. Even in down times where they’re just training
Kilkua as the main character really wouldn't change anything, starting with the Hunter arc he's pretty much always near Gon and he even becomes the protagonist for a bit.
For me ,
the Goated character who could be hero ..
1. Vegeta
2. Bakugao
3.vinland saga king (even though throfinn is the best .. I'm just saying just as another 2nd alternative CANUTE could be a good one)
4. Garou (One punch man)
5. Toji (JJK)
6. Any good character from other side of the wall (Attack on titan)
7. Sen hatsumi or Rei ( Kengan Ashuran)
8.Oikawa ❤ ( Haikyuu : might not be the most talented one but the best one)
9. shinsuke kita (haikyuu : although the genre will no longer be the action/drama will become slice of life/ drama/ psychological fiction
10. Gojo ( as you said if gojo be the protagonist whole story will be on hold .an anime which will counter your statement is Mob pshycho 100 )
And Gon is the most unique Main character....no one should be the protagonist apart from Gon (character having good backstory is great but if as a protagonist one's so unique like Gon , so much we can do with him.. I don't think any one stand a chance)
But anyway all 4 are the main character in Hxh
A friend and I played Battletoads (2020) when I stayed over his house, and the damn bike level took us about 2 hours to beat it!!! They've always been hard to beat 😅, but I actually enjoy those levels!
Killua, the goat of best friends in anime.
Escanor,
He is not the Main Character? Who decided that?
The author since Escanor died
@@WhishiWashi Well yeah but that is just some BS
garnt with the "itachi"respect fr
They know what they doing with the thumbnail 😢
Toji is the perfect answer.
His entire life is a perfect setup for the story of an anime MC.
His story is the most realistic in jjk and with perfect conclusion as well
Also one of the goated maps for me is Kino der Toten from Black Ops
The answer to everything is Todo from JJK, he's a king
Vegeta, Kenpachi, Bakugo, Escanor, Boruto has been done already lol, Maki, Guy Sensei, Katakuri, Itachi, Levi AOT, Cosmo KENGAN ASHURA, Sasaki Kojiro record of ragnarok, Jiren, Mirio Boku no hero
Just another comment that I hate how the anime community calls everyone who is not the protagonist a side character. It's a terrible way to categorize characters literally.
Nami and Zoro and Sanji and Smoker and Red Haired Shanks.
The series doesn't work without Luffy
Zenistu boutta go hard these next few movies you’re gonna eat your words
Kaito Tenjo from Yu-Gi-Oh ZeXal, Satsuki Kiruin from Kill la Kill, and Artoria Pendragon of the fate series for me
Kurama from yu yu hakusho. A series about his time as the thief spirit fox might be good.
I would love to see HxH from POV of Machi or Chrollo.
Naruto, but from Rock Lee's perspective
Garnt gave a shoutout to Blood Gulch. My millennial heart 😂
I would absolutely watch a show about Toji Fushiguro... As a 'deadpool' kind of anti hero. Navigating the political landscape of Jujutsu and his family
water temple is so smooth and easy if you just follow the path you clear the dungeon no stress
The fact they think the bully with a strong quirk and both his parents and raised in a loving home would be a better mc than deku 😂
How are any of the things you mentioned bad for a main character?
Kirishima from my hero academia
neji hyuga-arrogance to redemption
The bridge levels in Crash 1 (Road to Nowhere, The High Road) are nowhere near as hard as some people make them out to be. It's just rhythm and depth percetion that once you get down it's should make the run fine. Plus, they have plenty of checkpoints in between. You wanna talk about difficult levels in that game? Try The Lab, Sunset Vista or the infamous Stormy Ascent (neither are the woat though).
The entire strawhat crew and buggy
lol I read the title and was about to just say straw hat sweep
and Law!
