Something that most Americans don't understand is that MANY Vietnamese people do not want to leave their country. Vietnamese people are very proud of their country and heritage. Vietnamese ladies are wonderful. I married a Vietnamese lady back in 2013. We had known each other and dated for a while. I'm from Australia and worked in HCMC, as a teacher (I am a HS teacher in Perth, WA). However, I am writing this to warn guys, not to marry a wife with a huge age difference. I was in my early 50's and my wife was in her early 20's. She genuinely loved me, was not a gold digger, had two degrees from university and came from a lovely family. We loved each other dearly, and had a wonderful life back in Perth. She got her citizenship, worked hard over the years and bought two houses (nobody like the Vietnamese to work hard) and settled in well to our culture. When we married I had said that I had two kids from my first marriage and said I probably didn't want any more. She said it didn't matter and the she didn't want kids. Long story short - her hormones started working a few years ago, and all she could talk about was having a kid. She gave my the opportunity to be the father, and it was a heartbreaking decision, but in my 60's now, I just didn't want to start another family. She divorced me 3 years ago, found some guy and had a kid. My heart is still broken - I loved her dearly. We see each other often and are the very best of friends. She is a wonderful woman, and I have nothing but respect for her. She can't stand the guy she is with, but is kind of stuck now, because he is the father of her child. It turned out so sad for both of us. In my mid sixties now, it's just about impossible to meet a nice lady. I'm too terrified to do the whole overseas lady thing again, so not sure what the future holds for me. Don't set yourselves up like I did guys a get a lady with a vast age difference - even though they will say it doesn't matter - it does!
I think you are a nice couple even though there is a little barrier with language but she is very intelligent and she will learn it. It is very difficult for Asians to learn english but this beautiful girl speaks good english. God has a purpose for you guys ❤

Just a follow-up note ... My wife & I visited Hanoi for two weeks in early 2020. We had a wonderful time. (I was surprised how friendly the Vietnamese people were toward me, as I thought there would be hard feelings due to the war between our countries). It's an extraordinary city. (We've never been to Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon).

Just a follow-up note ... My wife & I visited Hanoi for two weeks in early 2020. We had a wonderful time. (I was surprised how friendly the Vietnamese people were toward me, as I thought there would be hard feelings due to the war between our countries). It's an extraordinary city. (We've never been to Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon).
