Don’t be thinking you are the only one having bad luck Sam, it happens to everyone. Anybody who says they don’t loose stock or have things go wrong is lying. You do your best and that’s as much as you can do but everyone gets problems.

It's a faff to change brake pads but doing it yourself saves on garage bills. I hope that whatever has bothered you over the past few days has been resolved.
