We can all come together and agree that CIG names things shit like Quantum Pingler and Star Bongle because they know its a meme at this point in the community and they're just like "Meh lets just lean into it" + its great unified marketing and we all know it lol
If everyone uses Star for their projects you aren't really in on a joke or a meme when you do it too, you're just following convention at that point. In my drawing app called VDraw all the shapes are abstract classes of type VShape, they belong in a VLayer, and multiple VLayers end up creating a VImage, and if you want multiple images open at the same time in different tabs they will all be present in an enumerable inside the class VProject. Oh, but what do you use to draw? You use a VTool of course! If you use any interfaces, odds are you'll be naming them "IPlayerManager" or "IConsumable" where the opening I stands for Interface. Following convention is just what you do after you've worked as a professional developer for many years. Coming up with an actually interesting and good name for something will take me a lot longer than just naming the thing StarStuff and moving on to the next entry in the backlog.
Apparently Genesis is not Planet Tech according to a cig dev. What that means for the panel, who knows, but it's the opening so it'll probably be hype. A lot to look forward to. Highlights to me; SQ42, Org stuff, armor choices that matter, crafting & base building and 1.0 high level plan. I really liked Zac's part of the fps panel last year, and he seems very gameplay driven which is everything I want, so to see him hype up the direction Rich Tyrer is leading them makes me hype as well. SQ42 is the big one this time though, I really hope they nail it.
@@pelvistObviously the Bible is the origin of the name.... but if you know anything about the CIG devs and their love of science fiction references and Easter eggs, this is *definitely* more of a Star Trek reference to the Genesis Device creating worlds at an unbelievable pace: *"According to myth, the Earth was created in six days. I really hope that whatever they're planning for their "Social Universe" section includes a ton of things to encourage people to play together. It's an MMO after all. I want to see in-game orgs with relevant features. I want to see some sort of in-game tool to facilitate grouping up, whether it's highly specific and flavoured as a contract ("Gunner on Hammerhead for 200k an hour") or a more generic solution like a Looking For Group tool that lets you say "we're a group of 4 doing assaults on distribution centers and need a medic. Bring your own respawn point." Anything that removes reliance on global chat and out-of-game tools.
I hope they show how the NPCs are intended to work once server meshing is working. Will we get lots of NPC ships flying around, how will NPC passengers and crew work now, etc?

I was at that one in LA, I can't travel to Manchester unfortunately for this one. But yeah, I was just shocked it had been a year already.
It's easy to predict, just copy-past last year where they said that squadron 42, pyro and server meshing were coming soon. Sprinkle in some updates on stuff that's nowhere near finished and there you go. Ah, and ship sales too. I would expect something new and shiny that could easily be upgraded to from the corsair now that they're planning to make it suck.
I pledged for SQ42, and honestly that is all I care about. I just don‘t have time enough to dive into StarCitizen. And everytime I tried I lost all of my stuff due to „mistakes“. Which was always frustrating. But I love CiticenCon! Can‘t await the whatchparty!
I hope the character section talks about the future of being able to have multiple characters and how that is going to work, like other mmos. A lot of people want to RP so we need this feature.
For the dressed to kill panel, i wonder if the legendary friend is Recco Battaglia, the mission giver of levsky and if this is the pretext to show all the prostheses for your character, since recco has a cybernetic leg.
Despite CIG's history, this is actually interesting compared to how lackluster the gaming industry is right now. Tomato, I hear you're a bit more negative lately, but from normal players who doesn't need to create content for Starcitizen, your reason is legit. To live off of CIG's creation I do understand, while anyone else have nothing to complain about, really.
Imo "dress to kill" will be THE most important topic and possible positive change they dropped until now. As it possibly implements finally a first step into real playerprogression. If they get server meshing working properly, they should spin the engine tech out as a separate company. This is the "MMO in the Cloud" tech that could drive a huge number of games.
Star Citizen 1.0 has always bothered me. The PU needs at least a *YEAR* of bug fixing/polish alone before it will be actually ready for retail/1.0 release. At least this should either confirm or alleviate my fears.
I wish they could push out some tools to the community so they can get a backlog of fauna/flora that just needs to be checked, maybe edited slightly and signed off on. I'd love a large variety of fauna - birdwatching on distant planets.
I'd think Nyx being a bit less populated would be an even better place to bring in Exploration gameplay. It's still UEE controlled space but doesn't have as much to do as say Stanton which, if they made it to where the only way you could get more markers in Nyx was to explore and find them yourself or pay for the data someone else collected (player or NPC) it would open up that entire aspect of the game. The updated scanning and a form of data storage/transfer we've seen teased and talked about would need to be brought in as well, but then things like Touring and personnel transport could also be implemented with the Spirit E1 recently leaked as being worked on.... having 3+ systems and specifically Stanton, Pyro, and Nyx is the perfect mix for those careers and gameplay to be brought in. Also, I still say, with Pyro, we need a mobile Repair, Rearm, and Refuel option that the Starfarer just can't do itself. The Vulcan is needed with Pyro.
I'm excited for the base building, crafting and fabrication. I played No Man's Sky and it was a great feature of the game. BUT....I only believe it when I'm actually playing it.
Not suprised it might be 3 years away. No one, ever, has done server meshing for a game. Let that sink in. CIG is only able to tackle it because of great funding. Most devs start with debt, then have to rush the game out to make money. No one wilk tackle something crazy like server meshing.
What the game needs is a bigger team that is dedicated towards fixing all the glitches and bugs. They love to bring out new and exciting features which is great, appreciated and loved but it ends up with things always being half finished. Would be great to see things actually completed and they work. You don't fall into endless space, your spaceship does not suddenly explode for no reason, spaceships cannot quantumleap through planets etc.
The feature is the thing they are developing, not SC, SC is just the testbed. The "product" is the engine, selling that is all they care about. So the basic feature just has to be there, using that feature fully is up to the customers. THATS why everything is always just a proof of concept T0.
For Star sustemwill go out in a limb and guess nyx us next, and then terra. Nyx and pyro are both fairly outlaw systems and outside of delamar kind of having a hero zone / city.. terra would be a very obvious move. I think it is highly likely they have work done on it and some will be shown next week
the big thing i am looking forward to getting more detail on is, what does SM mean for adding content to the game? We know that the PU hasn't had much added because the current single server/instance model doesnt allow much more to be added (memory has been full for the last 6 years or so, so its one in one out at the moment). But once SM is added and server/shard memory is no longer the bottleneck, thats quite exciting. They have a massive team and they will have been making a LOT of content that simply can't come anywhere near the PU until SM is in and is stable. The fact that SQ42 is in polish should tell people that the game code for a lot of features is done, yes there will be some PU changes to make, but they arent starting from scratch once SQ42 releases. I also think that character progression is very important. I agree that player skill should matter more, but people love character progression and it gives a reason to keep playing/grinding. SC needs reasons to want to keep logging in and feel like you are moving forward.
I don't think static content is affected by server meshing, locations and missions are in the games. Live dynamic events, however, will definitely be positively affected (an event area could potentially have its own DGS so that it doesn't affect players doing other things)... so I am excited to see that at least. Maybe we can finally get some gameplay on the 3 Orison locations added however many patches ago...
SM means everything to the game it's not possible without it. We'd be stuck at 100 players and no capital ships. It took them 5 years to invent it and get it working. But now it's working and they're doing testing all the time of it.
@@eddiepatch2 oh static content is absolutely affected by SM. At the moment there can be very little content added because the server memory is full soon after it spools up (as players spread out around the system), unless they remove something else. If they add a new outpost for example, thats more server memory used up when it loads in, its not infinite. Obviously OCS helps a lot, but memory is still the limiting factor. With server meshing, all of the content in a given area is spread between the memory of all the servers in that mesh based on which area they cover. Also, content like missions currently fully load into the single server we have now, as you pick up the mission. In the SM version, content loads on demand.
@@ccgod yep. exactly that. There is no PU really without SM. they cant even add the content they have made as the server is at memory capacity soon after it spools up.
They had to talk about further afield than Pyro this time around, because as long server meshing works and it's starting to look really good then more systems shouldn't take anywhere near as long as Pyro and as we already know they have some assets for other systems already to go (sort of). Lets just hope it isn't all hype and we aren't still waiting for more than Pyro this time next year!
4.0 is literally close to evocati already...not being pedantic here. We could potentially even see full Pyro release by the end of the year, BUT... probably more like before February next year at the latest. So, it truly is close relatively speaking, like...I know lots of people love to lay on thick the pessimism, but there's a difference between being pessimistic and outright ignoring actual progress
@@ChristoffRevan oh I agree, I've said in replies to some others else where I think they'll drop 4.0 at CitizenCon and that the 3.24.2 patch is a lie 🤣 probably a little optimistic, but at the same time I don't think it's far off and I think there's a real chance it'll be here before the end of the year.
14:14 They better announce passenger transport. They can implement a rating system by the npc passengers based on the speed, onboard services and safety. You could offer them food etc. on a trolley during quantum for better ratings and extra money. Bonus points for some passengers forgetting luggage and you having to clean the plane from empty packaging and bringing the forgotten luggage to a lost and found after each flight. The ratings could serve as a rep system that influences the prices you can charge
@@MaticTheProto My apologies. My original comment was in jest concerning the state of the NPCs currently. They are rather unreliable in normal behavior. Therefore to attempt to get them to board a space liner and ride around seems a bit unrealistic to expect in the near future.
So it's exactly the same as last CitCon- a big ship sale with absolutely nothing of note announced and still no commitment to release dates. The paypig backers will eat it up, as per the usual, asking for nothing in return.
The planetary surface in Stanton desperately needs an update. These repeating patterns can often be seen from above. What this looks like square carpet tiles from the 70s. Likewise, the surface of the planet, seen from high orbit, appears as if it were a picture painted with watercolors. The texture appears very flat and lacks contrast. Unless half of the planet is in shadow. I would be very happy if the new Planet Tech improved all of this.
Base building will likely be a combination if prefab structure placement and a constuction sustem using rebar frames and rmc sprey on materials that you repair when maelstrom damaged like the ships. This will also branch out in to custom design prefabs that players can nake and design and sell as stucture prefabs, the idea of making archs a monolith scuptures that can also be detailed with a selection of textyred materials would give players a level if ownership design never seen jn other sandbox mmos btw. Bend the rebar and spreay around it then shape the form with lasers and clone the process woth a pioneer or reclaimer to make medium to xl stcutres 😂 Cig doesn't tell me anything btw i just know what my vision is now. The build system in death stranding for roads and underground hyperloops woild be really useful to connect distribution centers to player settlements too but ill talk to someone on sat/sunday when im there.
So far im thoroughly convinced, that squadron will turn out to be an "O.K." game (at best) and that it will hold up better as an interactive movie. CR's master piece crafts projekt, that he was dreaming of since his wing commander days. Otherwhise, if squadron was shaping up to be a phenomenal game, they would have had mastermodes figured out by now. instead they are stumbeling from one strange design decision to another, as if they were the first men and are banging rocks together.
ooooorr they have the space combat where they want it from a PvE perspective (SQ42), and are now trying to roll it out to the PU and make it work on PvP for all the OP ships and sweats online?
Despite having taken several extra years to 'do things right the first time' they're also still figuring out the MFDs, the UI elements, and inventory management. All things that were allegedly nearly ready for beta several years ago. Also, the first time they had one of these things where they said a new system or systems should be coming 'next year' was 2016. This of course, never happened but morphed in to being 'pyro' and then the road to pyro as of 2018. That was also a miss in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and looks like 2024 is a miss too unless they have pyro out by next week. So why would I beleive them that Nyx is coming any time soon? Are we just supposed to forget about the near decade of lying about red stanton coming 'next year' to talking about blue stanton coming next year? Oh, and good thing we have AI NPC, blades and drones in or these forced multiplayer engineering choices would be horrible.
@@RN1441 thank you for reinforcing my point :) - that is as far as the strange design decisions go. In the other regard, i'd have to quote you Hanlon's razor "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity". An i think you'd have to agree that many of the more baffeling decisions cig has made do indeed fit such an cathegorization.
@@fuckYTaddsGreedyCorpration meaning, by your own words, they have not figured out mastermodes for squadron either, but are fudging it there. thank you for agreeing with me and reinforcing my point, despite framing it in contrarian verbiage 🙂👍
I'm hoping that a retouch of ArcCorp is going to reduce the number of panels everything seems to be made of. I'd love to see buildings that look like they're actually made of building materials like concrete and steel and less of this "everything's made of various sized panels" a'la 90's comics. I don't mind it in some places but when you look at a plain, basic wall or a facade some of them look like IRL Jenga.
I feel like the only person that doesnt want to see base building yet. There are so many core features they need to finish already, base building should come after we have a properly enjoyable game. Why are we talking about base building when we dont even have dedicated housing in the cities.
It will be interesting to see how they divide up the game between rpg vs esport. In an rpg your character has skills that determie the outcome of a scenario. Think dungeons and dragons. Rolling a skill check has nothing to do with your real life abilities. Esports being the opposite. These are your shooters, racing, and strategy games. Entirely skill based and sweaty. Adding rpg elements to the esport aspects of star citizen would look something like: more dexterous reloads, more sprint time, higher resistance to G force while racing, etc. Usually upsets the no-life pvp part of the community. I hope they give us the ability to choose. Maybe a brain chip that turns on your skills for survivng in the verse and the ability to turn it off and 1v1 that angry space dad who swears he would beat you if he had time to grind skills
What we need: Stable server/gameplay ("Server meshing will fix it") Reputation (persistent & significant) Progression (more than just buying ships) Crafting & living economy (rare items/ingredients, recipes, meaningful things) Player market/auction houses (so the economy actually matters) What we get: New clothes 😖 New character customization 😖 New places to go (to do nothing) 😖 New ships 😮💨 Base building/Crafting 🥳 SQ42 maybe?😲 If we actually get a release date for SQ42 and they do a decent base building/crafting, I think it might end on a positive note. Otherwise, it's yet another year away from the game.
I'm interested in hearing what you actually want to see despite the fact it might not show up in the next year. What are you interested in at least learning more about?
Also, thanks for watching :)

It needs to have way more planets if they want to implement base building, to a 2000 player server, with pvp outside main cities
I reckon no proper atmo flight without control surfaces and those...will be what make proper weather worth implementing.
Oh please please please! Give me my Apollo Triage already! Lol
Not suprised it might be 3 years away. No one, ever, has done server meshing for a game. Let that sink in. CIG is only able to tackle it because of great funding. Most devs start with debt, then have to rush the game out to make money. No one wilk tackle something crazy like server meshing.
Its already been done, try stepping outside the CIG cult for once.
@@heru_ur6017 not at this scale.
Do we get new ships during citizen con? Or is that just IAE?
For the past 2 years, they’ve announced a concept the was flyable at the next citizen con.
@@daveg1701 nice, thank you
What the game needs is a bigger team that is dedicated towards fixing all the glitches and bugs.
THATS why everything is always just a proof of concept T0.
toamto has a full video about the arugment! i wourld recomand to look at it!
I am a star fan of your star content, star tomato
@16:10 ... "I'm betting it's two, to three, plus years away" ... < holy shit! really? ... ouch
Considering how little we got from previous Citcons, I couldn't be less excited..
lol back in my day 2019 lol well back in my day 2012, I walked around my hanger. Dreaming of having a ship sitting in it, lol😅
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Sorry, my hopium ran out
Considering the name, Genesis could well be something about the dynamics of the Fauna and flora rather then planet tech 5.0.
Nice Jacket!
Is 1.0 gonna be beta 1.0 or or we skipping beta and going to live?
the big thing i am looking forward to getting more detail on is, what does SM mean for adding content to the game?
@@TheGaryinWales Yep and yesterday it looks like they did a 2,000 player test.
I love the Tomato Jammies! Awesome. ❤
Ill think about heyond Pyro, when we actually get Pyro
"Legendary character": The worm or riot.
very good
The classic ship they are going to talk about better be the banu merchantman
NPC Crew?
I want that hoodie.
Any bets that we see Terra?
You guys have remarkable patience for this games' development.
Don’t mistake patience for hopeium.
How new is that intro? I like it.
And the NPCs can all stand on their chairs in flight.
@@misstressscarlet pointless comment?
@@MaticTheProto To a pointless post.
@@misstressscarlet you seem to have too much free time
@@MaticTheProto My apologies. My original comment was in jest concerning the state of the NPCs currently. They are rather unreliable in normal behavior. Therefore to attempt to get them to board a space liner and ride around seems a bit unrealistic to expect in the near future.
That Pyro rug bothers me, I will never venture to that specific part of the verse....
So it's exactly the same as last CitCon- a big ship sale with absolutely nothing of note announced and still no commitment to release dates. The paypig backers will eat it up, as per the usual, asking for nothing in return.
SQ42? Not for another 3 years, at least. They still have a lot of ships to sell.
Bend the rebar and spreay around it then shape the form with lasers and clone the process woth a pioneer or reclaimer to make medium to xl stcutres
😂 Cig doesn't tell me anything btw i just know what my vision is now. The build system in death stranding for roads and underground hyperloops woild be really useful to connect distribution centers to player settlements too but ill talk to someone on sat/sunday when im there.
Surprised they didn't call it StarWorlds tbh
@@GARfearfak I think you managed to somehow completely misunderstand what they were saying. It wasn't complicated.
We need a star APP
I feel like the only person that doesnt want to see base building yet. There are so many core features they need to finish already, base building should come after we have a properly enjoyable game. Why are we talking about base building when we dont even have dedicated housing in the cities.
Squadron 42 has to absolutely slay of SC is going to remain in the realm of negative stigma.
Yo Dawg I heard you like stars so we made StarStars for stars.
"beyond pyro?" OH GOD NOT AGAIN!

@@SpaceTomatoStar star citizen xD and yeah, it does track with the whole space theme. Also,.This... "Bingo game" It intrigues me >_>
how the hell are they gonna talk about 1.0 when 4.0 aint even out yet
What we need:
Stable server/gameplay ("Server meshing will fix it")
Reputation (persistent & significant)
Progression (more than just buying ships)
Crafting & living economy (rare items/ingredients, recipes, meaningful things)
Player market/auction houses (so the economy actually matters)
What we get:
New clothes 😖
New character customization 😖
New places to go (to do nothing) 😖
New ships 😮💨
Base building/Crafting 🥳
SQ42 maybe?😲
If we actually get a release date for SQ42 and they do a decent base building/crafting, I think it might end on a positive note. Otherwise, it's yet another year away from the game.
