  • I always think about that.
    What else is out there that I haven't seen?
    So in the spirit of exploration I decided to make my way to remote land features that I thought might have rock art on them since I was heading out from a spot with a concentration of prehistoric rock art. I figured there was probably more to be seen. And I was right. So join me as I venture out in the Nevada desert and have a look!

    Visitation to sites such as this should be done with the utmost respect. The artwork is not simply graffiti, it is a window into the past and it is culturally significant. Please take great care when visiting and observing these places.

      Its a lot of work doing what you do for us. Driving, hiking, climbing and the editing. Great work taking us all to places most of us won't see in person.

    At 21:00 looks like you found evidence of ladder use to get into higher cliff dwellings or caves. They carved it leading into a crack cave looking crevice! 😃

    Awesome Panels, and amazing music choice. That first panel the drone flies over is breathtaking - I had to pause the video and just stare at it. Thanks for taking us there, I know it was no small effort.

    Another energizing adventure! I noticed quite a few figures that have a fat "H" enclosed at the base. For me that is something very different from rock art in other geographic locations; perhaps a "tell" of the local ancient inhabitants. The rock art really makes one think and wonder "who did this and why". For the most part, the animals a very distinguishable and represent all of the fauna that these people encountered. I will say this, these ancient inhabitants did not suffer from acrophobia. Love your dog, she has a great life!

      No, they certainly did not fear heights! I could sit and stare at these panels for hours, very intriguing!

      You have to wonder if the H symbols were the different ppl divided into groups kinda like we do now live close together a mailbox lol

    So presice in the drawings. Sheep, Rams, Elk, birds and foot or hoof prints, hands, a hunter drawing its bow and arrow on a ram, a cowboy on a horse. All quite accurate . So when I see the ones that resemble Aliens it makes believe even more of other life forms. And the spirals?? What does that mean? They have been carved in rocks all over the world, along with the Alien looking creatures.

    Awesome. I love sw landscape. A couple years ago we, dad, son, and I, were able to drive to the grand canyon and through new Mexico and Colorado on the way. I had the most vivid dream in Taos. I've always been called to go there? Was there one night and felt a "download". Definitely some cool scenes and spiritual land. Going back soon. Thanks for taking us there.

      Yes, very impressive. It is in a very protected spot from sun/wind/rain so the elements haven't gotten to it like other panels.

    You definitely know there's absolutely no way all the rock art out there's been catalogued! Such a beautifully vast area, and it's been a few years since I've been out that way, myself! Haven't quite made it to that particular spot yet, but it's been saved on my map for quite a while! Thanks for taking us all along on the journey, brother! 😎

    I was there in the 90s with the Utah Rock Art Research Association and a couple of friends from Las Vegas. Some said the H-shape symbols were purses/bags, but who knows. Much of the iconography was affiliated with the Southern Paiute.

    • @EnigmaClandestino
      @EnigmaClandestino  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, who really knows. It would be interesting to hear what the Paiute would have to say, either the ShivWit or Moapa may be able to shed some light.

    Another interesting venture, thanks. There are so many great animal figures out there, you have a special one here. At 6:50 there's a deer with a massive rack, much larger than the usual animal figure. Seems like the artist was showing that they had seen a real trophy.

      I have and it's interesting because studying the stills of dense concentrations of petroglyphs reveal that images were carved on top of other images sometimes. Same with paintings. This perhaps show that beliefs changed and different cultures moved through the same areas.

    • @EnigmaClandestino
      @EnigmaClandestino  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why not. It's not out of the realm of possibility that influence from South America reached as far North as present day Southern Nevada. Macaw feathers were found in caves in Utah. If goods were trading, proselytizing of some degree most certainly was as well.

    Have you ever thought (if you have the means or the contacts) to ask today's Native Americans what the art you see means? Or would the meanings not even be known to their current generations and they'd be guessing as much as any of us do? Pardon the ignorance but I'm an Aussie and don't know the ins and outs and depth of the knowledge/awareness of such art over there (I would assume it's generally the stuff of mystery though).

    Gee I wonder why the rock art looks like brand new?also why the alien figures are so much more detailed. Almost as if they are recent and made with modern tools. Hmm .
