Always seen this movies as a dark comedy horror, very creative horror movie, so much fun. I love it.
I'd love y'all to do more under rated Craven films like Serpent and The Rainbow, Shocker, etc
What about Red Eye? That movie's pretty scary too but not talked about much.
So "Don't Breathe" stole most of its ideas from the first half of this movie.
Not really too far off from stealing both halves of the movie.

I agree with your comments. I haven't seen this in a while, but I loved it and rented quite often when I was middle/high school. This is a very under appreciated Wes Craven film.

I was like 11/12 when I saw this and even then it was made pretty clear that the mother and father are brother and sister with many of the people under the stairs being their kids (also most likely kids they had with their kids as well)

I remember when I was much younger, on censored for TV version I saw first, daddy says "Shut the face up" to the dog and my friends and I got a great chuckle out of it.
It's funny to see big Ed and Nadine from twin peaks reprise their roles as a married couple .

Great review of classic Wes Craven film guys! For me, it's right up there with Craven's more famous works like Scream and Nightmare films.
I first saw this on demand with Comcast in the free movie section...my mom and I love the meltdown the mother has when she yells at her Alice, “only god knows were he’s doing his business!” In reference to roach...

I've only been watching this channel for about a week and I've heard Ving Rhames brought up more times than ever before in my life.
That man has been in a lot of movies.

Absolutely love u guys and your show is one of my very favorite things to watch here on TH-cam. I don't exactly know where else I should or can go to ask u guys a question, so I just decided to ask it on here for now.
I was wondering if there was a possibility that you all might do a review of the original film version of 'Rosemary's Baby' sometime in the near future? As a young 12 year old , I fell hardcore for AJ Langer ( Alice) after seeing this movie. Once I saw her in " my so called life" that killed it for me

Classic movie with amazing atmosphere and score. Landlords house reminds me of Hull House from "Night Of The Demons" , with all the passageways and shady history. Those are the 2 best and scariest houses In horror movie history imo. Brandon Quintin Adams was an amazing 90s actor. After this he did The Sandlot another classic (and I liked "Ghost In The Machine").
Cool film for sure...love that Ving Rhames was in it-he always is awesome in what he does...RIP dear Wes Craven. Is a shame when a gifted light gets snuffed out...never enough time and you just know they have so much more to offer. Hope the little moppet playing the girl wasn't traumatised by the bath scene...as well just butt nasty pervy Daddy and all. Loved the dog--truly talented pup. Makes me wonder though......perhaps some of the children what got out...maybe there's the answer for the zombie apocalypse? Lol Just sayin.....brilliant as always guys--keep em comin

Great horror movie but It was hard for me to watch the scenes of child abuse. Then again I did first watch this movie at a young age.

I rewatched this today having seen it once in probably 1994. In 1994 aged 14 I remember thinking it was quite scary. I liked it today for very different reasons. Its an odd film, but very funny. I'd love to know what Wes Craven was thinking. I like how the dad just decides to wear a gimp suit for no explained reason. The script is funny too. Can't tell if Wes Craven knows the script is occasionally stupid or just doesn't care. There is a lot of 'tell don't show' in the dialogue. Also, was the LA ghetto ever this bad? It looks like a war zone.
It's like if home alone was a horror film. Also I'd love to see a sequel which shows what the boys under the stairs got up to once the film ended 😉 I read that the low budget meant there wasn't much studio interference and I can definitely tell. The eccentric touches make the film better for sure.

Can someone explain to me how the people trapped in the Walls etc were all clean shaven? Try had long hair, extra skin on their faces? But have no facial hair whatsoever...
