Robert englund was in the second one only after they realized they needed him. Pretty sure it was a money issue. But they still used shots of the other guy and you can clearly tell the difference.

It's crazy to think that David Warner was originally cast as Freddy Krueger, and that Robert Englund was his replacement after Warner's pre-existing shooting schedule with another production conflicted with the Nightmare on Elm Street schedule.
If you look up the David Warner make up tests, it's quite surreal to see another actor in that original role.
Robert Englund is Freddy Krueger and there's no replacing him, but it's interesting to see just how close that iconic role almost went to someone else.

    • @isobelswan

If they do a remake, they definitely need to make Freddy, exactly as Robert Englund's face, or very similar. And the actor who will portray him, needs to channel those mannerisms, make it it's own, but at the same time channel that. Great video as usual, guys! :)

    • @WizardosBoz
      @WizardosBoz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't necessarily disagree, however I do like when remakes try do something there own way.
Imo usually it's better because then you have two distinct movies

Not that the sequels are terrible, but the only two Nightmare films you need to watch are part 1 and part 3. The Dream Warriors completes Nancy's arc quite nicely, has some very imaginative dreams sequences with quirky characters, and is set in an asylum. The way they defeat Freddy at the end could've wrapped up the series quite nicely. Didn't need any more sequels after that, but I'm still glad we got to see some more Freddy.

I think New Line is a production company, not a studio.
One thing not really well known bout this movie is that it's actually based on real events, namely ppl killed by something in their nightmare. Wes got the idea from a newspaper article about a cambodian kid who had recurring nightmares, eventually tried 2 avoid sleeping (even hiding a pot of coffee in his room), and when he finally slept again, died in his sleep.

Good review. I enjoyed the back and fourth discussion, but with some lighthearted moments too. This is one of the most original and scary horror movies. Great characters too. I tend to agree that the final scene is a Nightmare. That is why you have the surreal image of Nancy's Mum happily waving to Nancy and her friends being attacked by Freddy in the car. I'm happy with the ending personally. Probably say this, Nightmare 3 and A New Nightmare are the three best of the series.

A couple of years ago there was an article that showed some excised footage from the basement scene with nancy and her mom where her mom tells her the story of freddy's death but prefaces it by telling her that she used to have an older brother who was killed by freddy and that "she and daddy took care of him".
Personally I don't feel that the extra footage added anything to the story, I actually think that it took away from the effect of nancy's growth as a character because it would have turned everything that she went through into a stereotypical revenge story.

Some of the real life “nightmare” deaths have been thought to be the result of a genetic defect called Brugada’s syndrome. (Named after the doctor who discovered it. And other “nightmare” deaths are thought to be heart related electrical disturbances and others they aren’t quite sure about and these sudden nighttime deaths are referred to as S.U.N.D.S = Sudden Unexpected Nocturnal Death Syndrome, Sometimes it’s just called S.U.D.S. for Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome. (in a weird way kind of like SIDS but for young adults etc.)

The first film didn’t really have it at all but subsequent films had stuff that Freddy said which really made me laugh!! “ Primetime Bitch!! “ when he rams the girls head into the television in number 3 for example.

Look up pulse 1988. It's one of me and my friend's top movies. If it was remade today.
    Edit:
Side note Robert was in one Knight Rider episode.

Depp may not have died in Platoon, he was wounded pretty bad, but Taylor acted like he would make it. He didn't die in Ed Wood at all.

I had the privilege to translate and subtitle this movie for its DVD distribution. I enjoyed every second of that work.
