Nicely done, would have been better if more time was given to read the information on the plaques that were shown. Southampton has a lot to offer, just a shame it's not promoted more. I love the container ship crossing the end of the road at 5:37, so surreal.

Southampton's my hometown and for us that live here, we sometimes forget the history and beauty we are surrounded by, it truly is a lovely place but much more has changed over the years, more modern buildings, the bargate shopping centre is now bulldozed along with lots of other beautiful old buildings to be replaced by modern high end shops.
Sad to hear about beautiful old buildings being bulldozed. Too much focus on consumerism these days and not enough on culture and community. Thanks for commenting on my video.
I have moved to Southampton at the age of 2 with my mother and father having moved from Italy, I love Southampton, I have moved away a few times for a few years but I always come back, you are right it is beautiful, the buildings are being replaced by modern flats mainly for students, one thing I will always miss is how Ocean Village used to be like, it was the place to go when Los Marinos used to be open along with Way Out West, so many bars. Used to love going in there with my family on weekends.

I grew up here and it's a shame when people talk about the dreary post war tower blocks and forget to mention the parts of the city my dad and grandad talked about. Southampton has always had a fascinating merchant shipping side too so thanks for including this as well. Southampton is a special place for me. Lovely film.
Thanks! I grew up in Romsey, and went to Southampton very often on the weekends. My mother was an English and History teacher, and I can remember her taking me around these historic areas when I was a kid. The city definitely has some lovely old buildings, as well as parks. Glad you liked the film.
Southampton has lost so much of the older characterful parts behind where the Echo office used to be....planners and developers have really buggered the place. Also I miss the Hythe ferry tickets office....and what happened to the maritime museum? ☹️
