Amazing video Alex, been a fan for a while. Your content is criminally underrated.
Hampshire means an awful lot to me, especially Winchester and Romsey (glad to see Southampton didn't make the list! 😂).

I was brought up in Winchester, so I was waiting for this video. Hartley Wintney and Brockenhurst are also both highly recommended and worth visiting too.

Thanks, I'm always grateful for village suggestions. I passed through Brockenhurst on the bus to Lymington, so may visit it properly if I ever do a video about the New Forest.

I believe they are both villages so not included in rules.

Thank you for your hard work presenting this channel.... Excellent stuff yet again.... I'm in Shropshire at the moment and I'm sure I know what the number 1 would be here!

Thanks! I'm still a fair bit behind on Shropshire, but there is one timber-frame-heavy town that springs to mind.

A group of us spent a couple of hours with our cameras in Odiham. A delightful place, also.

5:01 Fun Fact: This Bishop's Waltham's pub, 'Bunch of Grapes' (here seen on the right), is known locally as the 'Piles'.
Nah, probably not - I just made that up. Sorry, I couldn't resist... I'll get my coat then.

I agree with Winchester being at the top position. It's a truly beautiful place.

I may be wrong, but I think Avon means river.

    • @AlexinGreatBritain
      @AlexinGreatBritain  13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Yeah, I didn't want to go off on too much of a tangent but it's a Brythonic word for river, so literally 'River River'. In fact, there's a River Avon in Wales which in Welsh is 'Afon Afan'!

Winchester is a fully fledged city - not sure it fits the town criteria, though it's very nice. Fordingbridge is a bit of a dive imo, ,it's potential sapped by poor planning over time - eg the development of industry in a location that requires heavy traffic up the high street rather than a convenient spot right next to the by pass which was allotted to housing....

    No Basingstoke!! Ha.
Mostly agree, but Whitchurch is really not up to much.
Its biggest claim to fame is that the Lord Denning was born there in a house just in shot at 2.58. The building is called the rather dull name of "The Village Bakery" - Surely it should be "Master of the Rolls".

I had a hard time whittling this one down from 12 to 10. Alton and Ringwood were my two near misses for this list.

Out of this list, 2 or 3 would be good. 5 is excellent! But then you do follow 4K Explorer I suppose, haha.
