      Starr didn't throw dumb interceptions in critical moments of big games like Favre was known for. Many very good Packer teams and a very good Vikings team died by Favre trying to be the hero and throwing horrible interceptions in crucial moment. Brett Favre cost Green Bay at least a couple Super Bowl berths with stupid turnovers....including the 2007 NFC Championship Game against the Giants when he threw it right to the Giants DB Corey Webster and ended up costing the Pack a Super Bowl berth. He did the same exact thing to the Vikings in the 2009 NFC Championship Game...throwing a horrible pass in overtime that was intercepted and ultimately cost the Vikes a Super Bowl berth. #51?? What a joke. Starr belongs in the top 10 all time.

      I don't think so bro.
      what did Starr do after Lombardi?
      Without Lombardi, that team was sub .500...I think they worked extremely well together, but 25-60 is where Starr belongs...I personally would've had him at 32

    • @johnstjohn1987
      @johnstjohn1987 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh come on. Dude helped GB to first two SBs. Set records. Top 20 then

    • @Matthew-qy7op
      @Matthew-qy7op 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +johnstjohn1987 so did Nitschke, Kramer, Gregg, Adderley, Taylor, Brown, Davis, Jordan, Jeter, Dale, McGhee, Dowler, Gillingham, Skoronski and Chandler.
      I'm not saying your opinion is wrong to put Starr in the top 10, but in my opinion, if Lombardi had another quarterback from that era, be it Y.A. Tittle, Sonny Jorgensen, Roman Gabriel, Johnny Unitas, John Brodie, Don Meredith...The outcome would have been the same.
      All that aside.
      Football is just a game. it's off the field that Bart Starr has left his mark...in the ministry of troubled youth.

      Matthias Schwalbach All good man. Respect.

    • @Mr.56Goldtop
      @Mr.56Goldtop 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Matthias Schwalbach Geez! That team was old and beaten up, their last hurrah was SB II! After that a lot of the players either retired or left. You just can't compare the Lombardi teams to post Lombardi teams. They weren't the same in any way. A mere shadow of their former self. Bart hung on for a few more years, but age and injuries had gotten to him too.

    This man was the true definition of a game managing qb. No he wasn't a Johnny Unitas or a John Elway. But he was good enough to not cost you. But even he had big play capability. It's just because he had a elite defense to back him and a consistent run attack. Because of these luxuries he didn't have to play hero ball like a Brett favre or Aaron Rodgers

    My dad (who grew up watching the Packers practice on his high school field) was born the same year as the Packers. He could name every great player... and as could many of his contemporaries ...could count them among his acquaintances. Football in Green Bay has never been about the "league" or the "celebrity". It has always been about Green Bay. I digress. Dad KNEW Don Hutson and Johnny "Blood" McNally and Curly Lambeau.- - His favorite Packer... in his eyes, the GREATEST Packer? Bart Starr. For what it's worth, I agree.

    Starr is way under-rated. If you check stats on how many times he led the league in YPA, completion percentage, playoff win percentage, and other meaningful measures, he's arguably the GOAT. Check it out.
