I work in a boojie dairy farm farmstand. At closing, by myself, I had on Spotify and this song came on. A customer came in and threw his finger up as to listen to the speaker near him and said "oh, this is Valerie June I think, her new song". I said idk, ran to check the iPad and sure enough it was. I said cool ima check her out. He said "nice, enjoy that rabbit hole, it's alot of fun". Been listening for the last few hours and I now get it. So thankful for Valerie's sultry, soulful lyrics filled with spirit.

My alarm went off at 5:50 and I got up shut the alarm and turned the radio on and laid back down. I was half awake half asleep and this song came on. At first I just lay there and as the song played and I was pulled in I realized I had to find out who the incredible singer was and what the song was. I grabbed my iPhone and Soundhounded it and it was Valerie June. I played the song again after it finished on the radio then I played it again and again and again and again! What an incredible singer! Valerie June is fantastic!

I am OBSESSED! Valerie is something special, phenomenal, unique, incredible, pure raw talent. You know that whole-body-goosebumps sensation where it feels like it’s raining down on your head with a power that comes bursting out your chest like pure joy.. I just pre-ordered this album for my birthday because on March 17th I will be 34. I first discovered Valerie's music a month after my grandpa died (who raised me and was my father figure) and I still wish he could have been here when I found her because grandpa, who was born and raised in a holler in West Virginia, would have LOVED her music. He would have called her a "good ole down home girl". But there is such a light in Valerie that her music got me through the pain of losing my father... and nearly two years later, the loss of my grandma who was my mother figure as well as my best friend.... and on top of that, she gets me through the worst days of having life-threatening chronic illnesses. I can't be mad or hurt or miserable when I listen to her because regardless of how I feel before I hit play, as soon as I hear her, I am smiling and the negative things are out of my mind, at least for a few minutes. I am currently going through a very rough time with my health and I have days where each moment feels like an eternity but I know that I have to fight to get through it all because I have people in my life who love me and they need me to be here. And I know Valerie's music will continue to get me through those bad days. Somehow she always manages, with just a few notes, to remind me who I am and why I am here. There's nothing I could get for my birthday that could top that.
