I EDC a spyderco civilian and adding a Yojimbo 2 with it in the next few days. Also, it should be noted that a good edc should be based on the tasks you require it to perform. Great vid.
I have an embarrassing number of the budget knives you mentioned. Of all of them, the Zancudo was my biggest surprise. Light, flips like a champ and the ffg blade is like carrying your sharpest paring knife everywhere. You should really take a look at the Kershaw Camber for your $75+ models. The ergo's are very solid, the blade is stonewashed S30v, and weird knife design choices (recurves, finger grooves for alien hands) driven by style are kept to a minimum. Yes I would've preferred that it not be Speedsafe, but it's all so well executed I even like the assist.
So am I weird for liking to carry longer knives? I really like the size of my Gerber Evo. I carried my CRKT M16-12ZER for quite a while but went back to the Evo because I don't like that my pinky doesn't really grip the handle and it feels kinda thick in my back pocket(where I always carry it). Also it's length and width made it jab in my ass all day ha.
Maybe do a lineup of under 25 or 20, 15 and 10 dollar knives, fixed or folding, I think would be interesting, there are a few great knives for that cheap!
I agree Jason. For a second I was going to include my San Ren Mu knives, but one has an axis lock so I didn't want to use it. I left out the fixed blades... could be the subject of a follow up video.
BladeReviews.com That is exactly what I was getting at! A budget EDC roundup, and a fixed blade EDC lineup. This of course, has been done before, but I like your chioces in knives, your input and commentary, and I like how these videos were done.
Great video, thanks for the upload. For people eyeing the Voyager, a good alternative is the *Gerber Gator* folder. I personally think Cold Steel borrowed heavily from that design for their knife. I carried one for a couple of years until I lost it, but the gator is a solid EDC for a reasonable price; plus you can sometimes pick them up at your local Walmart.
If your family was going to purchase you any knife $200 and under, what would you purchase. I am wanting a work horse, quad carry, and something that I can count on for a almost any situation? Any suggestions, thanks enjoy your videos!
bridgesbushcraft I have two favorites, both made by Spyderco...the Paramilitary 2 for around $122 and the Dragonfly 2 for around $55. You can have them both for under $200! good luck with your search.
Strangely, here in the People's Republic of Mexifornia, there is no upper limit. Firearms are another story, but the 🔪 Knife Nazis haven't been particularly active here ... at least not yet. Slight correction:. I think a few individual cities may have upper limits.
No one ever says EDC for what? What will the knife be used for? Not one of these knives, nor any other tactical style pocketknife is worth a nickel to me. Tactical knives are designed for fighting. They'll open a package, cut a string, or slice a pile of foam, but for real world uses outside of what any box cutter can do, they're all completely useless. There's an old sayin, "If a box cutter can do what you knife does, sell your knife and buy a box cutter." I have no plans for getting into a knife fight, so what good are tactical style pocketknives? I know such knives have been the rage for the last fifteen years, probably because of 9/11, buy I need knives to use out on the real world, even out in the woods, and not one of these knives is worth a nickel out in the woods, or even out in my workshop. When is someone going to do an EDC lineup for people who actually use knives, and who don't plan on getting into a knife fight? These single bladed, tactical style pocketknives are as useless as teats on a boar for people who actually use knives out in the reak world, even if one costs five thousand dollars.
Thats the most IGNORANT COMMENT Ive seen ALL YEAR , Rambo Ritchie !!! I cant even imagine someone like YOU even surviving out in your shop, let alone the wilderness, HAHAHA !!!
It's as simple as a matter of preference, my man. Is a box cutter more practical for you? Go for it. I like knives, I'll go for a knife. That doesn't mean anything, it's just what I like.
Missed out on the Benchmade 940/ Osborne designed. That's a magical knife. Good steel, easy and light to carry, titanium back spacer, and damn sexy!
Enjoyed the variety of classics and newcomers. That Fantoni Dweller is one I haven't heard of-- I'm off to check it out more! Cheers, Andrew
An all star line-up!
Great selection. My favorites are Spyderco Pingo, Mnandi and the traditionals, especially the Fantoni Dweller.
Thanks for the video!
Thanks Claus! You have good taste! :)

Enjoyed the review. Just got a Spyderco Tenacious and a Kershaw Rainbow Leek. My first real quality knives.
For the $50 price point I'd recommend the Kershaw Link
great job love the divisions in price and it was cool to see some different stuff
Thank you, Kevin. My pleasure - tried to throw in some "non-traditional" choices to keep things interesting! :)

driver8sk Thank you for the recommendation, Driver. The Camber looks nice, especially for the money. You might see it on my channel at some point. :)
Thanks for the video. My favorite EDC is the Benchmade 707 Sequel.
I loved my Spyderco Domino but the tip broke on me recently.
Now I'm thinking about picking up an Emerson.
Very well made video, man!
Great video....thanks for taking the time to put this together! The domino is one I'd like add to my collection next

I think Massdrop has 'em for about $85 right now.
its a MINI griptillian. and i got mine for like $60ish and brand new (maybe the prices went up idk)
@ $99 the Manix 2 lw And the benchmade 940 @$200 both So good

What happened your your staple and standard ( benchmade 710 ) ? Surprised it wasant in there
I like the Northwood Indian River Jack - tell me, is the 'butt-plug' logo on the handle silver or just polished steel..?
+paul greenwood Paul, my guess is that it is nickle silver like the bolsters. Not sterling silver.

I thought the ken onion design kershaw leek would be on the list
Excellent review! it's always nice to see Spyderco knives getting positive press. I'm sharing this video with a coworker.
Great video, thanks for the upload.

When did the gerber gator come out ? Because the voyagers have been around for about twenty years.
Can u sell knives in good condition without the boxes
What do you have against SOG
good video mate, and good choices of knives there. Miss the kershaw leek there ;)
dseed Thank you, Dseed! And you're right - the Leek is another excellent choice.
Really enjoyed the vid bro!! Great job!
Nice video Dan. Enjoyed that quite a bit!
edgeobserver Thank you, Andrew!
Have you ever owned a bastinelli?
Great video Dan
Great video, you have condensed about 1000 different forum threads into just 27 minutes.
Thank you! I am relieved to hear "just" 27 minutes - wasn't sure if that was too much... my longest video by far.
No kershaw leek?
Where is the 710??? My fave!!!!
BM 710? Too big for me... might make an appearance on my "Best Tactical Knives" video. I considered showing off the SRM 710 but decided not to.
Where is benchmade 580??
what was the name of the russian knife?
Great reviews, Subscribed!

bridgesbushcraft benchmade 581 barrage
Excellent vid, great sharp choices which I do largely agree with... ;-)
Some of these knives are not legal EDCs in many American jurisdictions. Are you not aware of this?
They are all legal where I live! Be sure you follow your local laws, and don't cut yourself!

wb gerber
Don't waste your money imo. At that average price point, you could go with a nice kershaw oso or leek.
+The only easy Day was yesterday true.
+The only easy Day was yesterday but Gerber seems to make quality bodies frames the steel is just cheap.
None of those blades look like they've ever been resharpened ;)
Girly knives
yeah he shouldve got an 8 inch ka-bar for edc
because nothing says manly like over-compensation

James Ritchie well I use mine in the kitchen and the garden, in a street fight you'd be seriously outgunned producing one of these tiddlers.
fascinating
James Ritchie because everyone who uses a knife is just like you and 'use knifes in the reak world'. Different people, different needs, period.
