I’ve had my ZT 0561 for over 2-Years & it’s absolutely ‘THE’ Best EDC Blade I’ve ever owned/held! You forgot to mention that the blade steel is Elmax (superb Super Steel) & that the 2 handle sides are different b/c the brown side is G10, while the opposite is titanium.., FYI🇺🇸 After carrying mine everyday for the past two-plus years, I can vouch that this knife is truly & justly an “Investment!!!” Great Videos, Budget Bugout🇺🇸
That was some goofy intro man, really like those light comic intros. Really dig your style, and your presentation of the product too. Never too complicated, keep it up mate.
just watched this video and found it helpful. Just have two flippers, the ZT 801 in both plain and black wash. Really like them a lot; play with them all the time which is evidenced by frequent finger wounds. The Domino looks like a stylish fun flipper.
I've owned the Cryo & Leek. Cryo doesn't hold a edge long, I used it for a couple of days cutting cardboard at work (x patterns on each end) maybe 30 boxes, not to many but it still dulled quickly. I have pretty small hands and the Cryo wasn't very comfortable, digs from the back end. Also the blade wasn't centered after a few days but I expect that's due to it dulling so quickly and having to put extra stress on it to cut. Leek did have a very fine blade but it's also very light and the first time I opened mine when I pressed the auto assist the knife flipped clean out of my hand. Fell tip down on concrete and the blade snapped off. At that point I got pissed and threw it down a storm drain. Just make sure if you pick up a Leek to watch the tip and make sure you have a good grip, it weighs nothing and is very smooth in the hand.
FateofDestinee You might be right. The girl behind the counter at a local knife store carries the 300SN everyday and loves it. Also, Benchmade just came out with a re-issue of the 300SN known as the 300-1. I've also held the 300-1 and it is NOTICEABLY more ergonomic. So that's another option out there. Thanks for watching!
I bought the benchmade 300 (I actually don't know if it's the sn or -1? it just says 300 in the blade and I bought it at a retailer so didn't look into it just looked the knife). I have small hands and didn't even think about its potential ergonomic issue till I hoped on line. I don't know much about knifes but I love and it will definitely be my edc for awhile to come.
I’d keep that Buck in mostly for the price you pay for that amazing blade steel. I know there’s a way to work around gimping as well but I’ll have to search it because I don’t remember how to do it exactly.
hi'i'm a spyderco fan boy,and just got my first flipper"a brad southard,so my vote would go to the domino as the top pick for the last five knifes you show!but it probably cost more then the others as well! most likely domino will be my next flipper, good video,i enjoyed it,thank you.
I have the buck in 420HC and in 10 minutes using the cut off wheel on a dremmel-tool you can make your own jimping on the flipper and the spine of the blade. I loved it in 420HC, it would be awesome in s30v.
The only thing I didn't like about my Domino when I purchased it was the cheesy blue carbon fiber scale. I upgraded it immediately through Cuscadi and now it is one of my favorite blades. I can't understand why they'd put such a cheap looking and feeling scale on what basically amounts to perfection. Just my opinion of course.
I am new to knives. My first quality knife was the Kershaw Rainbow Leek. What a beautiful knife. But as you said its more of a light duty knife. Next a Spyderco Tenacious, the every mans Spyderco. Since I'm a tight budget I picked up a couple of Ganzo knives; their G704-BK and G727M-BK models. They are both more heavy duty folders.
Don't think Cold Steel makes a 'flipper' but they've got awesome lock back blades & are widely considered best 'bang for the buck'. Love my CS Swift 1. Hard to beat their locking mechanism. Cheers!
Great job. Only thing I would have loved would be to go over the names and prices of your ultimate final five. I know you go over all of them but by the end I've forgotten each specific knife. Thanks
Thank you. Great review and especially extensive show-notes! Reviewers need to learn from you of how to do proper reviews and supply needed information in addition. Thumbs up! Subscribed.
My Kershaw Cryo lasted less than 2 weeks before the torsion bar broke. I contacted Kershaw several days ago and still haven't heard back from them. So yay.......
CRKT RIPPLE Is AWSOME I've had mine for 3 years my EDC every day still flips super smooth with out assisted onening! Super thin , forget it is even there! Hope the fossil is as good! Might be my next one!
old vid, Real Steel and Ruike IMHO now sell the 'best' budget flippers, RSK are usually around AU$80 for most of the good flippers (Thor, Sea Eagle, Megalodon E571) and the Ruikes are all around AU$50. Both companies offer excellent fit and finish, quality steel and plenty of options. I haven't seen any Zero Tolerance here in Australia selling for under $200.
I dig that intro, adobe after effects? I dig flippers and domino on my list. Do dig the ikbs bearings on manual flippers when it comes to budget production lines. good choices of knives. I paid way to much for my 0350 if it goes under 100 bucks these days. Still one of my favorite linerlocks. Good video again mate :)
I like my ZT 0801, I prefer it over the Domino and 0560 due to its full titanium handle contruction vs partial titanium with plastic overlay on one side. Also buttery smooth!
There are a lot of good Flippers, and I guess for the sake of not exclusively having Kershaw, but I would actually put the Kershaw 1760 Skyline at the very top. It's very light, USA made, good Sandvik steel....very good ergos and small package for a 3.1" blade. It pretty much bests the Leek in nearly every category. However it doesn't have SpeedSafe...which is really the upcost for the Leek. Versus the Vantage Pro, I'd put the Kershaw Camber which is also S30V steel and at least $30 cheaper. USA made as well (obviously as its S30V)...blade is 1/4" shorter, but has SpeedSafe. It's smooth G-10 vs aluminum with textured grip and stonewash finish..if that's your thing. It's still one of the least expensive S30V flippers on the market. However, I will observe ownership of words. He did say "His top 5" at the end.
I have the Kershaw Knockout and the Cryo. I'd take the Knockout over the Cryo any day. I also have the CRKT Eros, super light, easy carry and very stabby. Check out the Knockout and the Eros, you may end up adding those to your flipper collection if you haven't done so already. Thumbs up for thanks for sharing your top 5 flipper knives.
I like gerber, I've had a gerber for over 5 years now and it's still a great knife which only costed me $30 and it's assisted opening. either way, once you go above the $80 mark, it can be an expensive lesson learned.
I've been thinking about getting a peek for a while now. cool vid man, sorry for the shifty comments ppl leave...some of us do appreciate what your doing here.
The Kershaw and the ZT are not auto they are spring assisted there's a difference and correct me if I'm wrong but those dips on the back of the blades are not swedges
That zt0350ts costs more than $100. It's more like $150 or $160 from the prices I've seen for sale on them. I have the m390 version and I was going to keep it but if I can make some decent money on this m390 sprint run. I think they only made 500 of them. They also made a carbon fiber handle of the same m390 zt0350 that sells for crazy money. I'm selling a bunch of brand new in box never used knives. The zt0303ts, first gen zt0550, zt0630 tanto m390, zt0700blk and a zt0566 and this is the only knife I have to sell that is used. I've got a guy that can turn that elmax blade into one of the sharpest blades you've ever seen. Also I have a slightly used paramilitary 2 in black DLC coated blade and digi camo g-10 scales. It's already been sharpened and highly polished edge so it slices effortless through phone book papers with almost no resistance. Let me know if any of these knives interests you. Thanks, Paul.
My EDC is a Leak. Not my favorite knife but for the pocket it can't be beat. Slim, light, comfortable in the hand, frame lock and effortless to deploy. Mine is a black stainless with a Damascus blade. I have ZT's, other Kershaws, CRKC, Spyderco, Buck, and WWI, II, Viet Nam War (oh excuse me "Military Action") military. I have a few Randalls, but in my pocket is my Leak.
Own 3 of the 5. Disagree with the fossil and vantage as best edc knives. They are decent but there are much better pratical edc's out there. The cryo is great bang for the buck though. Pretty much all zt's are amazing. Never owned the leek something about it isn't appealling to me.
I really like the cyro but will it open if I put it in my pocket? Is there one that has a safety on it? I would get the leek but you said it's blade isn't meant for big task.
Nope. When Ken Onion invented the assisted knife, he (and subsequently others) made sure that it meets the definition of "not" automatic and/or a switchblade. That's because the user has to actually open the blade by about 25% before the spring kicks in. Oregon has since been proven incorrect in its interpretation.
My perfect knife is a flipper with no serrated blade, glass breaker, seat belt cutter, automatic, and a wooden handle or a wooden finish on the handle. I'm just getting into knives and I haven't found the knife of my dreams yet.
Hey Budget, please don't take this the wrong way. I really do enjoy your videos but I've noticed a trend between them. I think there would be a lot more interest and a lot more of a professional view of your channel if you limit your "umm's". And please, I meant no offense by this I just wanted to give some constructive criticism. Keep up the good work!
Just telling you to set the record straight I'm not a jerk or anything I'm just going to tell you that I know, also I like your collection of flippers very nice, those things I said about the prices or the automatic knife thing maybe you didn't know but that's how we learn so all in all I'm not going to criticize you
I need a folding knife that locks with bronze pivot bushings\washers or bearing pivot any suggestions under %50 I am really struggling don't see much info on pivots I break the plastic tephlon pivot washers \bushings a lot please suggestions
MSIdleon to me as long as it has brass or metal washers i am good but the bearing systems are much smoother as long as it isnt tephlon you are good thx
Flippers in general are just a bad idea as an actual EDC knife. They require you to draw the knife then change your grip to "flip" it open and then another grip change to actually be able to use it effectively. Compared to standard thumb stud/hole knives flippers are slower to get on target in a defensive situation. a quality $200+ Auto is a much better choice over a flipper. Wave knives are up there with flippers unless the Wave is on a Karambit style knife. We've done extensive trials with various styles of blades used in conjunction with pistol drills. 1.Fixed blade was of course the top knife. American Kami Colubris. 2. Traditional thumb stud/hole folder. Three Sisters Forge Beast, Benchmade 943 and Combative Edge SR11. 3. Autos. Benchmade 4300 CLA, Gerber 06, Microtech Scarab and Ultratech. 3. Wave deployment. Spyderco Delica and Endura both with Wise Men Company Signet Ring (Converts them to Karambit folder) 4. Flipper. Zero Tolerance 0801, 0 350 and 0095. We each (3) carried and for a lack of a better word "Played" with these knives over the course of 3 weeks. We rotated each week what knives we had to the next tester. By the week of testing we all were extremely familiar with all the knives and their function. Our drip consist of a blind loaded mag with a Snap Cap randomly loaded as to represent a failure each shooter would then utilize their knife as a backup weapon. Each test was at arms length and time stopped when the blade slashed and stabbed the target once each. The slash and stab had to cut or pierce through the cardboard target. After all 3 testers had used all the above listed knives times were tallied up and knives ranked. Though on a few occasions the flippers were faster they due to grip and grip changes didn't meet the slash/stab standard and came up shallow thus resulting in a DQ for that round. Flippers are a fidgeting play with it knife. They are not a serious EDC backup option. So before you think "oh now that's cool" consider this test.
Well got the Ripple but does is have like a breaking period cuz it feels like the detend is so strong that it makes the opening kinda hard and painfull
Lellobeetle The Skyline can be a bit of an odd ball when it comes to the flipping action. I have owned 5 Skylines over the past 5 years, 3 of them I have now, and 2 of those are folding ones. I noticed from my older two, that I no longer own, the detent wears out over time and the flipping action becomes very soft. I have the Carbon Fiber/S30v one and a Blue handle/Blackwash one now. The Premium skyline has about the best flipping action of any Skyline I have ever handled. The Blue/blackwash one, which is one of the rarest Skylines, has a somewhat soft action that needs a firm pull; even after I greased and tuned the pivot.
***** Yeah I was a bit vague. Basically it comes down to: -I have owned 5 total -I own 3 currently -2 of them are folding, one of them is a fixed blade Skyline.
Instead of showing all your top 5 picks laying on the table right at the beginning, keep them a surprise! It makes the video way more interesting that way!
You said in your video that the cryo was automatic? It is not automatic. Flippers and assisted knives do not fall in the illegal category. Shrade makes an otf, the viper, that is not illegal.
i'd say andre thorburn are the best knives on the planet or maybe des horn or. If you want to spend a bit less, would go with a chris reeves or benchmade.
Where can you find a zt 0350 with a tiger stripped blade for a hundred dollars, it doesn't exist the knife is at least 150 and that buck pro is also more money than you said, unless you are buying used blades
Love my Braus silent soldier. They recently released a few G-10 models that range from around $200 up to $240, depending on the blade and frame finishes. Reminds me of a Spyderco Dice with a wharncliffe style blade. Its been one of my top EDCs since I got it. A much easier knife to carry then the ZT0561, which I also own but find to big and heavy for everyday tasks. It shares alot of pocket time with my Domino.
The spyderco southard is probably my favorite, love how it fits my hand. And it's just a beautiful knife!
A Kershaw Leek has been my EDC for almost a decade.
I carry both Kershaws and the Boker Plus Ti Kwaiken. Love all three. Great edc trio.
Totally agree with your choice. I would add the Spyderco Titanium Sage, the Benchmade 940 Osborne and Kershaw Oso Sweet...all great knives....
Alfredo Guillen Sorry.....I know you were talking about flippers but theese three are also great knives....
That was some goofy intro man, really like those light comic intros. Really dig your style, and your presentation of the product too. Never too complicated, keep it up mate.
That ZT 0561 is awesome. Well done review. Not too much irrelevant, self-absorbed gabbing, lots of relevant facts. Thanks.
just watched this video and found it helpful. Just have two flippers, the ZT 801 in both plain and black wash. Really like them a lot; play with them all the time which is evidenced by frequent finger wounds. The Domino looks like a stylish fun flipper.
The cryo is an assisted knife , not an auto.
he put annotations saying it is spring assisted, but if you were on a phone, you would not be able to see it
Knifeguy
Exactly
I've owned the Cryo & Leek. Cryo doesn't hold a edge long, I used it for a couple of days cutting cardboard at work (x patterns on each end) maybe 30 boxes, not to many but it still dulled quickly. I'm especially fond of that Benchmade 300 SN. Lovely blade. I wonder if it would be more ergonomic for my smaller hands.
sweet blade, i love bench made product, i keep a mini-grip as my edc, and i have an adamas for bigger jobs
***** Yeah I love Benchmade. I have a full-sized grip and 940 as well. I plan on getting Benchmades more for sure!
BudgetBugout i think my next purchase will be a full size grip, got wait till payday, just picked up a taurus 617 :)
I bought the benchmade 300 (I actually don't know if it's the sn or -1? it just says 300 in the blade and I bought it at a retailer so didn't look into it just looked the knife). I recently got the kershaw cryo and so far it is my favorite knife

flippers r definitely my favorite type of folders. so my fun to play with!
FierceGunz Agreed! Thanks for watching!
I should add that I'm a big fan of your videos/ imo you do a very good job
The Domino is sick!
Living Survival Agreed! I find myself carrying it often!

Thank you. Great review and especially extensive show-notes! Reviewers need to learn from you of how to do proper reviews and supply needed information in addition. Thumbs up! Subscribed.
nice add, I see the benchmade in the lineup. Best day to day flipper, in my opinion.
My Kershaw Cryo lasted less than 2 weeks before the torsion bar broke. I contacted Kershaw several days ago and still haven't heard back from them. So yay.......
HateUTub And today? ;)
Haha I like the dinasaur in the background at 4:32 :) Nice video by the way
cuddlebuns1231 Lol! Thanks! :)
CRKT RIPPLE Is AWSOME I've had mine for 3 years my EDC every day still flips super smooth with out assisted onening! Super thin , forget it is even there! Hope the fossil is as good! Might be my next one!
I'd like to know where you found a Zero Tolerance for under $100.00 Every one I have found is $150.00 or more plus shipping.
Facebook knife groups
deacon davis A swap meet in China Town.
A shady alley in Norway
+Aron Alhime O No, not here!
deacon davis i know man i was lucky to get mine for 140.00

Enjoyable Video.I carry The Buck Vantage often and the Kershaw Leek. Thanks and Good Luck.
thatspapsknife63 Those are great knives for sure. Almost every list that ranks the top 10 knives has one or both of those!
U said those were autos. They aren't Those are assisted opened in other words springassisted. Just my two cents
I've annotated that but it can only be seen on non-mobile devices. Thanks for watching!
Both the Domino and ZT0561 have full titanium frames that are covered on the front with a G-10 and Carbon Fiber scale.
There are a lot of good Flippers, and I guess for the sake of not exclusively having Kershaw, but I would actually put the Kershaw 1760 Skyline at the very top. Good list of knives. You should get your hands on a ZT 562 and 801. IMO the best production flippers out there.
Knives, Guns, & Gear Thanks! Maybe one day... :)
Dam, I like them all!! The ZT Blade looks the coolest, but I'm a big fan of Spyderco knifes too. I think I need 2 of each of all of them, LOL!
Dj Project You should! That's what I did! Lol! Thanks for watching.
I have the Kershaw Knockout and the Cryo. I'd take the Knockout over the Cryo any day. I also have the CRKT Eros, super light, easy carry and very stabby. Yes..I love kershaw-zt knives..the 350...I have 2 of them..one was 140 and the other was 160 dollars
That zt0350ts costs more than $100. It's more like $150 or $160 from the prices I've seen for sale on them. Excellent list...I agree completely.

I've really been thinking about getting one, thanks for the info.
after having the thought of getting a leek for quite awhile, I finally picked one up. stonewash blade. black scales.
Own 3 of the 5. Disagree with the fossil and vantage as best edc knives. They are decent but there are much better pratical edc's out there. The cryo is great bang for the buck though. Pretty much all zt's are amazing. Never owned the leek something about it isn't appealling to me.

Can you do a knife collection video
Kershaw Knockout is under $100 and is a wicked awesome flipper
they are assisted opening not automatic. assisted opening are legal in every state . autos are not..
Weizenale silver not necessarily true, u can be arrested for carrying assisted opens in some states
Not true, not all states allow assisted knives. Flipper knives arent even considered as actual assisteds either..
Kershaw is basically my favorite. Schrade is a close second.
Viper Ten. Great flipper.
The Cryo isn't automatic, it's ASSISTED.
Once you get past a specific point it's AUTOMATICALLY opened.
You don't get it, he was saying it was an automatic knife and that it was likely illegal. Practically and under law it is not an Auto.
+Warren SL Under oregon law it is " a knife propelled by force of spring" and is therefore illegal to carry concealed. Other states have similar laws
Nope. When Ken Onion invented the assisted knife, he (and subsequently others) made sure that it meets the definition of "not" automatic and/or a switchblade. That's because the user has to actually open the blade by about 25% before the spring kicks in. Oregon has since been proven incorrect in its interpretation.
also noticed that the blade length is incorrect as stated in the video. Cryo has a 2 3/4" blade. it's the cryo 2 that has a 3 1/4" blade. I own both.
My perfect knife is a flipper with no serrated blade, glass breaker, seat belt cutter, automatic, and a wooden handle or a wooden finish on the handle. I'm just getting into knives and I haven't found the knife of my dreams yet.
And bottle opener
Hey Budget, please don't take this the wrong way. I really do enjoy your videos but I've noticed a trend between them. They're on my channel. Feel free to critique my videos as I take any recommendations to make myself and my channel look better.
Also you may want to read the last 2 sentences, thanks pal.
Robert Lynch! You sir, are a douchebag.
Who the fuck are you talking too?
I love flipper knives....good vid bro !!
Gun Enthusiast Thanks man! Me too! I appreciate your support!
A faca FOSSIL é linda.The FOSSIL KNIFE,IS NICE.
Awesome!! Great video!
The only other "low budget" EDC carry knife would add in is the CRKT Ripple it IMHO is one of the buttery smooth flippers out there
what goes into the line of heavy use on the leek?
Hey I was wondering if you could tell me were you got your TH-cam logo from and if I could customize it for my own text
What about the spyderco tenacious?
This video is for flippers
I wonder how a Spyderco flipper would turn out
i think there is one, but i dont remember the name.
WTF? It doesn't have a flipper.
It would look like a spyderco domino, he shows one at the end
very good, thank you for the upload
I've never seen a zero tolerance knife for under a hundred dollars....
Great review of knives
Dean O Thanks man! I appreciate you watching!
Just telling you to set the record straight I'm not a jerk or anything I'm just going to tell you that I know, also I like your collection of flippers very nice, those things I said about the prices or the automatic knife thing maybe you didn't know but that's how we learn so all in all I'm not going to criticize you
I need a folding knife that locks with bronze pivot bushings\washers or bearing pivot any suggestions under %50 I am really struggling don't see much info on pivots I break the plastic tephlon pivot washers \bushings a lot please suggestions
the buck vantage is going for $46 on amazon right now it has brass washers and a great blade steel
MSIdleon to me as long as it has brass or metal washers i am good but the bearing systems are much smoother as long as it isnt tephlon you are good thx
Love my Kershaw Clash
I have the Kershaw Cryo and I can't imagine why you would rank it among your top five. ????
maybe because its had great reviews since 2012 and the price is hard to beat??
The ZT 0561 is beautiful. Great job on the video man.
The Daily Shooter Thanks man! Agreed! It's one of my favorite knives!
Great collection!
Jarhead6 Thanks brother! Doing these vids is how I justify having so many knives to my wife! :)
BudgetBugout
I'd just like to point out that the first Kershaw Cryo blade length is actually under 3 inches and the Kershaw Cryo 2 is over 3 inches.
I like the Domino, a lot. On my short list.
You just gained a subscriber :D
cuddlebuns1231 Glad to have you on board! :)
i have a CRKT and its the fastest flipper IMO because of the weight of the blade
mine is a straight blade without serrations
Could you do a vídeo con best budget flippers?
Is the fossil spring assisted
good picks... agreed... ZT is sold
what about the kershaw hotwire???!!
Spyderco Delica and Endura both with Wise Men Company Signet Ring (Converts them to Karambit folder)
CRKT Ripple or the Fossil ? All i care about is the action :D want it as smooth as possible.
both about the same considering they both use IKBS ball bearing system, which in my experience is a very smooth bearing system
Well got the Ripple but does is have like a breaking period cuz it feels like the detend is so strong that it makes the opening kinda hard and painfull
Idk what it is called got my first biggish knife yesterday on Christmas at 10. It is a buck and has a 3 inch blade and pocket clip
Where did you get a ZT0350 for under $100? Not mocking, just really want to know where to go to get that deal.
Are you sure that wasn't the cyro 2 not the regular cryo?
What knife is in the videos thumb nail? Please reply
+Dave Belman Watch the video. :)
would replace the cyro with oso sweet
Where did you find a zt 350 for $100
No love for the Kershaw Skyline?
Thank you for taking the time to answer.
***** Yeah I was a bit vague. Basically it comes down to:
-I have owned 5 total
-I own 3 currently
-2 of them are folding, one of them is a fixed blade Skyline.
Good video, thanks.
Is the Zero tolerance 561 bigger or smaller than the 566?
Biggwr
*bigger
Instead of showing all your top 5 picks laying on the table right at the beginning, keep them a surprise! It makes the video way more interesting that way!
I'm sorry. Did you say S30V is easy to sharpen?
Are “flipper” and “assist open” systems the same term?
Flipper knives are a types of assisted open
You said in your video that the cryo was automatic? It is not automatic. Flippers and assisted knives do not fall in the illegal category. Shrade makes an otf, the viper, that is not illegal.
the viper is not an otf
I have the fossil in 2020 and I love it to death!
i'd say andre thorburn are the best knives on the planet or maybe des horn or. If you want to spend a bit less, would go with a chris reeves or benchmade.
gerber gator is good for an edc
birdylover100 Gerber is the Honda of knives.
ItsSugar xD honda=lawnmower
birdylover100 But but....I like Hondas. (motorcycle wise).
Can you be my partner in the zombie apocalypse? *Fanboying*
Lots of good info...
MrBulletpoints Thanks kind sir!
Where can you find a zt 0350 with a tiger stripped blade for a hundred dollars, it doesn't exist the knife is at least 150 and that buck pro is also more money than you said, unless you are buying used blades
What about those new brouse blades
MrNiceGuy80x5 I have my eye on them but I just don't think that they're my style at this point.
