    In my case this was a repair, not a modification. The plastic element was scratched and moldy / cloudy so I had to remove it. I read about this in some threads but your video made me actually attempt it and it worked like a charm.
    A few things to consider:
    1. Slightly warm the front of the camera using a hairdryer in order to soften the glue. Mine was having loads of glue and using this technique allowed me to pull off the sticker without bending it.
    2. In my case the plastic lens was really glued in place. I heated it again and pried away the glue using a scalpel. It was quite cumbersome and did not come off easily, but it eventually did.
    3. Try to avoid using superglue - it really does not stick too well on the plastic and makes it look more messy.
    4. Have a pair of tweezers ready, it makes putting the sticker back really easy.
    5. Isopropyl alcohol really helped softening the glue as well.
    6. Having a generic electronics repair kit really helps - you have plastic pryers in there that do not scratch the material as bad as a screwdriver does.

      I don't know if I could have done a better written step-by-step🤣 Thanks for this as I feel it'll help more people out that want to do this to their AF1

    MASSIVE thanks for this video! Thanks to this fix I managed to save a camera that no repair shop wanted to touch (fungus on this little lens protector). Big up!

    the camera is easy to open, 1 screw in the battery case, 4 in the corners of the film case. be careful with the two cables and the spring from the film case closure. After removing this screws you have access to the backside of that lens thing and you be cable to clean it from inside.

    Can We do this on the AF-1 Super ? Great video btw !!

      Going to be honest, i have no idea. I've only seen/read about people doing it to this camera but if it's the same build for the most part then maybe. Idk if the super is water proof like the regular af-1 which is why people remove the plastic lens to get sharper photos

    Hey this is kind of late and idk if you’ll read this but, I scratched the bottom right lens when removing the big one is that a huge issue or am I fine? Idk what that lends is even for.

      It depends on if you scratched the plastic lens or the actual glass lens. If its the glass lens, you'll have to see if it shows up in photos or not
      Hoping everything is good for you though!! That's a bummer

    So how did you remove the glass part?

    • @jubileesantosfilm
      @jubileesantosfilm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it’s a plastic piece that sits underneath that black cover. if you remove the black cover and get something underneath the plasyic piece to pry it up ( like a small flathead or something like that) you can remove the plastic piece

      My camera had the plastic piece glued in place, it really looked like one solid piece. Carefully pry away the circular glue around the plastic, once you have enough off you can pry the plastic lens out. Remove any excess glue that otherwise could fall onto the real lens and you're good to go :)

      Hint: warm up the front of the camera with a hair dryer before removing the plastic cover ,way easier if you do so,removing the plastic door that covers the lens is also a must.
      The way to remover the front plastic that reads infinity of AF1 is easy
      Just grab it from the upper side and remove it by pulling it towards yourself.
      Hope that helps

      Just taken the sticker off of the front no problem. But how did you get the glass lens cover off? I can't seem to get underneath it to pry it up :/

    • @jubileesantosfilm
      @jubileesantosfilm  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CryptOfDrugula hmmmmm
      if the piece flat or like convex?? bc if it’s flat it’s the piece you need to remove, if it’s convex, that’s the lens and leave it

    • @CryptOfDrugula
      @CryptOfDrugula ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jubileesantosfilm cheers man, it was the flat piece in front of the proper lens. I blasted it with a hair dryer for 30 seconds to melt the glue a bit and it came right off!
