You gotta go every day to find good things, it’s about the quantity of times you go. Nothing to do with the store. I go to 10- 15 thrifts (each day) and maybe half I walk out empty handed .
Dude, just stumbled across your channel and have been binging the hell out of it. The way you find this stuff in thrift stores is unreal, here in Australia there’s no way you could get a MJU for under $100. You honestly can’t get many point and shoots for that cheap in general unless they’re broken
Oh my god I know right! Australia is so expensive for any camera stuff, if you can find it that is. I’m so jealous of America 🇺🇸 I went once and got so much cool stuff in thrift stores. Aus does have other benefits though like free health care. 👏🏻
@@LucyLumen You absolutely can!! especially the point and shoots, just got an olympus for $3..... Tip is 'not' to go into Vinnies, Salvos and other mainstream thrift shops. Go to the ones that sort their own donations and don't know the cost of the items. Most charity shops these days are centrally sorted and know how much these cameras are worth. There is an AE1 program in my local shop for $10 now.
Best cameras I found for almost pennies are Autoboy Cannon, Minolta af101r, and Olympus Infinity w/35mm Zuiko glass. All of them are excellent shooters. I have dozens of other models not so popular but shoot just as good. Cool video!
I love the amount of effort you put in a video, it really shows!! What do you do with all the camera's you thrift?? If you ever decide to sell them, let me know ;)
Agreed! I love it, I too get into a sort of ‘Gear acquisition Syndrome’. It’s fun to hunt and find items you like, but wondering if your closets are stacked?! I just cleaned out an extra bedroom, to have more room for the same thing.... “Gear Acquisition Syndrome” 😁😁
I found a yashica t3 in box with the manual, case, foam, plastic sleeve. I’m not kidding when I say it looked brand new. $50, yeah it’s not super cheap but in a small town in the middle of Virginia I’ll take it.
In the UK we do not have stores like this. We have a number of charity shops but they NEVER have cameras. If you go into a charity shop and ask if they have cameras, they ask too many questions and think you will sell them for triple on eBay. Its horrible here
They have a good reason, those vintage cameras (film and digital) are in high demand and the prices are going through the ceiling with people flipping them on ebay thanks to influencers and youtubers like him.
My best thrift was a Nikon L35AF, 1000iso version for $3 at Goodwill. Never found another film camera after it. I’m convinced the thrifting gods blessed me
That Epson scanner would be a great option for all our old family pics, we have a lot of unprinted photos and exposed film just lying around in a box(es). Sadly, we don't have that much of an array in thrift shops, nor we have that kind of a thrift shops, we only have small ones, and even if you'll able to find tech like that it's usually gonna be quite overpriced. And that Nikon N60 for $20 lol. I only was able to find in my country some options for around $40-50 (or even more) without lens (on a our craigslist analog).
I find it hard to get any bargains on film cameras now as the charity shops have figured out people are willing to pay the higher price, although I did recently buy a Nikon L34af for £10, absolute bargain and the lens is a dream. It also lets you take double exposures which is amazing.
Omg about the Olympus infinity stylus, it really was the battery?! I had one that started to make that *peep* noise and I sell it because I thought that was broken 😔
I found a Nikon EM with a Series E 50mm lens for $5 at a thrift store in my area. Weirdly enough, the store I go to adopted a similar three color discount system and excluded red tags from discounts. It’s kind of like they’re all owned by the same company with different names.
I have an Olympus Af1 with the really sharp 35mm 2.8 lens I prefer a smaller camera so I use my Rollei 35B. It has a sharp Zeiss 3.5 lens a meter that works perfectly without a battery. Manual wind and a hot shoe for flash.
Should have shown the inside of the Infinity Twin. I'm pretty sure people would have been really impressed by the design of the flip down mirror for the top lens.
I have just got aolympus f . Zuiko 1.28 xA but no flash. What do u know about them . I am waiting to put film in for street photography? What best seting?
Olympus Stylus Epic... North American product name.... Fun point and shoot, good glass, and metering in a form factor that is designed for pockets... The pocketable digital now is cell phone. If you can find an Epic...lots of fun.
My best thrift camera is a Canon QL17 New for $10... light meter doesn’t work, and had to replace the foam (like all 60’s and 70’s cameras) but it’s a great little camera and meters aren’t needed if you have a phone 😁. Most f my camera bargains have come from estate sales, though.
Found a 250mm RF Rokkor for 15 bucks earlier this year... A saving of about 1000-1800. Perfect condition now mounted on on my g80 for a sweet 500mm telephoto setup. Experimenting with long distance street photography at the moment. Very cool thrift store find
I just looked up the thrift stores in my area, most only sell clothes. But one looked promising, so I called and they told me they have a whole box of film cameras that they'll unpack in the upcoming days so it'll be available next week.
in canada we have them, but they sell all cameras for like $20 or less... it's like playing the lottery every single time, more so since the pandemic began if you will.
I find a lot of stuff around here but I picked up a Nikon FM2 with 55mm f2.8 Micro-Nikkor lens for $35 this week and an L35AF for $3 a few weeks ago. I just wish the weather would change so I could find a reason to go out. It's just been sub freezing temps every day.
inspired by one of your thrifting videos, I found a canon sureshot 60 zoom for $1.97 in mint condition, I'll get the film back this week :) thanks for the videos, I love seeing your content in my sub box it's always 🔥
I bought a point and shoot Minolta but it doesn’t work. Can you make a video on how to fix these types of cameras? I’ve put brand new batteries but the shutter does not go and it also doesn’t turn on :(
i see alot of these analog cameras in flea markets.. how can i be sure that itd work? i always thought the cameras like those in the flea markets are just decorations... sorry im new to this
Unfortunately over here in the UK, we don’t have thrift stores anything like in the States which are almost like department stores with amazingly low prices. Over here we have charity shops that specialise in books, DVDs, CDs and secondhand clothing. It’s very rare to find a store with any cameras as a lot of charity store here won’t accept anything electronic.
I really enjoyed all your vids but you've never said anything about the Canon Photura 135... I found mine in my neighbors garbage and it works but nobody seems to say much about it! Will you...?
Hey! I’ve been binging your videos lately and want to get into film photography, but i have no idea how to check if a camera is still working at a thrift store. Could you do a video on how you test cameras, or what to look for? From simple point and shoot cameras to more complicated cameras. I would love to see that video from you!
Idk if u still need this info or if he already made a video on it (I'm farely new to this channel ) I've recently got into film cameras and actually bought 3 in a second hand shop and I made a few mistakes so ... one thing to look out for which seems obv but I failed to recognise is to look if the battery cap is there and general things like if somethings smashed etc if it's something small easy to fix it should work though. I'd also recommend to look up good film cameras online to get a bit of a feeling and search up some good brands canon, nikon being the obvious lol Definitely check the inside where'd u put the film into and if u have WiFi access u can just look the camera up (that would be the easy way lol) and other than that I'd say it would be good to know if u want a smaller (point & shoot ) or a slr camera Bringing batteries would be a good idea so u can try it out but some cameras require lithium batteries ( but I'd bring some normal batteries anyways cause u never know what u will find!) That's all I know at the top of my head, hope it helped if u even needed this after so much timexD
I swear my thrifts aren’t as good as this. I’d be out every single day making these videos

that flute shit killed me u were so confident

still not a camera :(
it’s a reference to one of his older thrifting videos when he actually accidentally called a clarinet a flute :)

amazing!
The mju 1 is The best, probably my favorite point&shoot! Honestly liked it better than the mju 2. I also thrifted mine for about the same price! 😁
I got one for £3 on eBay and a Mju 2 for £5 on eBay, very rare but sometimes steals on there
Nice finds! I’ve never found a Stylus MJU in the wild.
Would be nice to see a comparison of images for all the olympus! Eg. a true range finder(35sp) vs xa vs ons(u1) vs slr

I wonder too what he does with all these cameras
Lucky you that was cheap! I bought the Olympus Stylus for $135 on Depop. Haha
Same here bought one on ebay for $147 😞

My friend bought his for $4
all the ones i’ve found on ebay are AT LEAST $340 AUD 😩
