    Great creation. I'm thinking of doing a late model V8 swap in an S10 and the 4L60E is still good so I might go this route instead of buying a 700R4 (4L60).

    Thank you for this video. I do have a question. I was under the impression that if you left the switches in forth gear mode and the shift selector in OD, that the transmission would start out in second gear but up and down shift thru 2nd,3rd,4th normally. Is that correct? Regardless, Cheers from Alaska! 🍺

    I like the idea of no computer but I also know how absent-minded some of us could be and I be a little concerned about burning up a transmission because I forgot to hit the right switch at the right time or hit the wrong switch at the wrong time

      If you run a good cooler even at extended cruising speeds no lockup isn’t the end of the world. The th350s and 400s don’t have lockups and they run like that all day. The more modern transmissions may be more sensitive but it’s still not the end of the world

      Does take a little thinking. Might do a new video on a manual valve body and just manual shifting through the gears. It's supposed to be wire free

    I’m looking to do this in a derby car, and all I will ever use is first and reverse, with the shifter, so when I wire the switches up. leave it first gear at all times then just use the shifter to go in reverse, then when I throw it to first it will be in first?

      Depends on the vehicle but most late 80s through 90s light duty trucks, SUVs and some cars had this transmission. Would also work with 4l70e and 4l80e transmissions

    I'm sure it doesn't need 12 volts all the time only when the key is on I'm sure why would you want a drain on the battery like that when its not running idk for sure but it makes sense

    • @slimsauto2406
      @slimsauto2406  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As long as none of the switches are on, there will be no drain on the battery. Hooking it up to an ignition 12v instead of constant would work the same. In my case it was just easier to hook up to a constant 12v

    • @slimsauto2406
      @slimsauto2406  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@torque8475 doesn't matter switch positions. Yes just put the shifter back in d and good to go. Does shift hard cause it's max line pressure but less wear on the clutches that way

      @@slimsauto2406no disrespect meant, but he's right, your solution is super trashy and ghetto. You don't need a $1k computer. Just Holley's TPS kit and get the RPM signal out of the ignition.

    • @lucasarredondo1429
      @lucasarredondo1429 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@excitationofstereocilia2103 Exactly, there are standalone PCM controllers for more modern automatic transmissions, either because you are going to use a carbureted engine or another engine that uses different electronics. Just an example, you could put a Rover V8 in a Firebird or Camaro that has a 3800 V6 which is the same as the Rover but with two fewer pistons. So you could use the original PCM from the Rover and control the original 4L60E transmission from the Firebird.

      @@excitationofstereocilia2103 To recap, if you are going to use a carbureted engine, with a TPS kit you can keep your factory electronic transmission.
