As a long distance runner , I can tell you this is extremely difficult for these muscle bound athletes! I am very proud of how well they are doing.💗. Six miles is a long race!
@@Vincent44483 Yep, the elevation changes and uneven ground make them use muscles running on asphalt/concrete could not prepare them for. Using way more stabilizing muscles than you would running a regular 6mile loop on the road.
No disrespect. But Mat is different because he puts in insane amount of work into it. The amount of mental fortitude and the consistent hardwork he puts in during training clearly reflects in the games.

I live in CA and “run” trails just like these. It is hard to describe how punishing a 50% gradient is on your run. a 3 mile hill run at these gradient s is way harder than say a half marathon. I run both regularly and find the the flattish half along the coast way easier than the 3 mile hill run. I slow to a walk every time.
Not sure if this will ever be seen by the editors but the fast forward animation/sound is a little unsettling. Just make the time clock larger or something, I'm sure the viewers can figure it out. Love CrossFit! Love the content! I hope to see this sport blow up like never before when we can put covid behind us!
I run 9km on a flat ground in 52min icannot imagine myself doing it on a hill hoooooooly mooooly it will take 2 hours 😅hearts of a dragon they have right there. Much respect 🐉
The announcer continues to repeat himself "It's a 3-mile loop... It's a 3-mile loop... It's a 3-mile loop." Okay, already we know it's a 3-mile loop - stop telling us the same thing over and over.
i wonder if they were pissed when they were told to keep going, thinking theyre about to be done. use all your energy to push to the end to be told to do it again. great loop
Running in reverse for me would be an advantage, I could start to check my mental notes of the first half and start to hit check points and know when to push close the the finish BUT! I would’ve blown my wad in the first half and been too dead 😂😂😂
It would have been more enjoyable to watch if the men and women competed at different times. I found my attention was split the way it was done here. I wanted to follow both races equally. Also, what's with the silly hashtags?

They should at least give them water they have a danger of dydration especially in the heat if they are the world's fittest a mountain 10k should be easy for them was surprised to see how much they were struggling
Spoken like an absolute Moron. All of these guys are obese on the BMI. Their level of cardio is INSANE for them to move at that weight, over a 10k run at that pace.
@@aaronspeight4659 running a 10k like that is not very impressive even with there body weight if you put those times against top mountain runners they wouldn't even be mid pack what the point of the event if they are so slow compared to them fair enough if they are sort of close to weightlifter but compared to professional mountain athletes they not even close plus there form is terrible
Would have been a huge advantage. Matt and that 2nd guy suffered most. They were sprinting to the end and all of a sudden, no halfway. Others may not have known but they’d have to be stupid not to notice that those who are coming back at them are still competing.
They are definetely not made for running. Strong athletes indeed, but running or other endurance activities are not in their cords. Too much weight to bring around.
@@devinstucky6948 Well VO2 maxes in XF athletes rarely exceed 60 ml/kg/min (of those I've measured who competed in regionals with some moving on) which is nowhere near HS or college endurance athletes. Their cardio is far more relevant to interval resistance training modalities vs the 5k/10k they ran here.
@@gannonw You sound way more educated than me on this so I won't argue any of that but look at what you're comparing. Trail runs they know the exact distance and run the race accordingly. These guys didn't. They had 4 brutal events previously (hip flexors already feeling like hell), the runners showed up fresh. Runners train for one event, xf trains for anything, including brute strength. I think people would be surprised how good at cardio top level xf athletes are if they were to compete at a trail run. One event. All the same factors as runners.

Yeah I am a long distance runner and I was just like I am so glad I never had to do this cross more and more as it went on

@@TJackSurvival that is true, matt's build is more heavy. So seeing him smoking everyone in this endurance and stamina test, respect to matt.
Elephant Man would argue that.
Nope, Josh bridges, navy seal, matt is normal.
I watched this whole event live, this event, with that twist is the ULTIMATE test of both physical and mental fitness in my opinion. What an effort.
They got so pumped to finish and gave it their all and then had to turn around and do it again. That is very mentally tough. Proud of them!
Exactly, just wow!!
Broooo they did them so dirty after that first 3 miles looooool
They put a helicopter sound effect over the drone footage lol
🤣🤧
Man, watching Mat sprint at the "the end" thinking he won, that's brutal. I mighta swung at Dave tbh. Fucking Dave
When he said "run it in reverse" I thought they were gonna back pedal the whole thing
🤣🤣🤣🤣
crossfit 2024 twist.
Same here !!!
All my respect for these athletes!
Rich froning jr
Kathrine is so confident! I love how she seems so confident & unbothered.
As a person who goes on mountain hiking myself can understand the hardship of this event. Huge respect for all these athletes
I've never seen before this kind of race.
Such a beautiful race and all players who participated are winners 🏆🥇

To bad they didn’t cover the women as much. All of a sudden Katrin is winning!
The documentaries make this sport more entertaining than watching in length.
running that 5k trail in 26 min is very impressive. 26 min with that much muscle mass is elite level
спасибо, что написали сколько они бежали и в какое время должны были успеть. Без перевода непонятно
Yes, 26min for 5k impressive indeed, especially with that terrain
This was my favorite event 👌🏼

That's good work, I find some trails like this here in Michigan
Wow! if you're done and finish first, you still have to do another CrossFit round... wtf?
They need a camera crew on the ground running with them. This POV perspective is better than drone shot after drone shot.
Thanks for the feedback Brian. BTW, a new season of coverage is here: th-cam.com/video/nWB2jWCAGCw/w-d-xo.html

Manbuns and mullets, crossfit has really adopted the eccentric.
Wish they'd do this again!
