- This may be my favorite picking boats episode in a very long time. I think all three of these boats are cool and have some value and a ton of fishability. They are also, in my humble opinion, fairly priced at $9,500 for the Shamrock 196, $18K for the Striper 23 and $49K for the big, bad and beautiful Jason Terry 28.

Noticed a few on Middle Road just west of Greenport a couple days ago. Also a beautiful wood cruiser in a field a little further west on South side of road.

The 28ft Terry Jason is a monster for the size. Plus the 6bt cummins is bulletproof. The zipwake trim system is easy 7k thats a bonus.
I just sold a small center console a week or so ago. Cheaper than I wanted. Not the best brand or condition but a nice entry level fishing platform with a good motor. Honestly. I feel pretty good about being able to sell as fast as I did. The used boat market is turning.

Nice I just drove down to Tom’s river from sag harbor at 3:00 on a Wednesday for a wellcraft 18. Safe to say I’ll never do that again but I have a bang around boat for the summer

I own two Shamrocks - a 200 WAC wide beam, and an older 26' Hardtop. Both have new 5.7L vortecs. Yes, they're a bit wet, but they are tanks, and are a flat dart on the drift. I'll be towing the 26'er 300 miles tonight to come down and fish for some fluke and stripers. Maybe I'll see you out there!

@@jiggingjerks Was out today - launched at Southold. Didn't see you. Two of us caught ~40 fluke but only one keeper, but only got in 1 hour of outgoing. Then the wind/tide went to hell.
@@thebleeb1681 I was out but striper fishing and then fluking way out east. No drift at all for fluke. My one person charter had two keepers but very slow overall
@@jiggingjerks Yesterday I used the Minn Kota to drift assist out at Buoy 7 and mashed the fluke. Game changer! Drove back home last night. Gonna do some hay and come back down in a few weeks.

I've been trying to off my old 16 StarCraft to no avail. She needs some work but it's still super solid. Got boat, motor and trailer up for best offer. I gotta make room since I just picked up a 19 Hydra Sport CC. I only paid $1500 for that with trailer and a Johnson 175 that only needs a fuel pump. I can't wait to put a new motor on that and get cracking next year with it. I'm going to kind of miss going 50+ miles offshore in a 16-17ft boat 😂😆😂.

I used to own a 21’ Seaswirl Striper walk around with an outboard. They are NOT good boats. Drifting for fluke and that boat would roll like a carnival ride. It also sat low in the water and when we had 3 people fishing , water would come in through the scuppers (even after we replaced them). They look beautiful and have good storage and features but, I would never recommend them.
If u head north on wading river road and cross over 25. Make ur 2nd left and there is an older Parker pilot house for sale with no motor. Not far down the road on the right side. Looks like a 20ft. I can grab a pic and send it to you if u want.

Completely fair prices for the others as well. The Shamrock is intriguing but there's something about it that's putting me off, it's just an aesthetic thing though. Striper's nice too but I'm with you on stern drives.
Is the market softening or are we getting used to high prices that certain prices seem like a deal?
I think softening. I'm thinking each of these boats would have been 30 to 50 percent higher in 2022
28 Terry Jason witha 210, is more like a 16-18knot boat. My father has a 31 BHM with a 210 and did 14 knots cruise, and 16 knots WOT.
Wow. My buddy has a 28 Albin with a 315 Yanmar and it's a 16 knot cruise. I figured with 50 percent less HP cruise speed would be significantly slower
@@jiggingjerks yammars are very high spinning so not as much torque as cummins, and cant throw as big of a wheel on
That boat ran 15-17kt cruise. I owned it had the trailer made for it
Two years ago, all three are 10-20k more.

Maybe not but felt it was clean, newer engine and someone looking for a hard to find smaller cabin fishing boat may bite
@@jiggingjerks Impossible to do but it would be so so interesting to see what these boats actually sell for. IMO limited market for walk around. Super super limited market for anybody wants to deal with I/O. I’ll wager you a diamond jig it either does not sell this season or sells this season for under $12K
