In the late 90s I actually had to get rid of my copy of Pretty Hate Machine after the love of my life broke my heart, it wasn't helping with the thoughts of ending my life. Really it was "Something I've can never have" specifically that was making me go further down the spiral...haha see what I did there? Lol. I got a new copy a few years later again. I even have it on vinyl too. Such an incredible album, especially for 1989! I still listen to it as much as I did back in the 90s. Ironically me and that love got back together numerous times. We even have been together recently. Off and on for about 26 years now, we love each other very much and have basically both come to terms that that will never change. We're always gonna be a part of each other's life. He was my first love, and probably the only true one.
Actually twist is not about a relationship between a boy and a girl at all. Trent is very openly bisexual and this song is about a relationship between 2 boys. If you have the version with him talking at the end it is even more obvious although I can’t believe anyone can miss the barley veiled references in this song

Mr Reznor produced music close to a "world wonder". i cant even place the Genra. N!N gene sounds more accurate. He pretty much creates unique art. I say put the guy back on drugs! So he can do some amazing things again! Everything post 2000 have been good! But nothing he did lately have even come close to Pretty Hate machine or the Closer Album. His music is about powerful feelings. Pains of drugs, human nature and girls hurting you to the extent of torture when you fall for her. Oh....and he made lots of cool pure party tunes! ;-p
Krystallen Mr. Reznor is now happy with a family. So he deserves his happiness don't you think? As an nin fan I will say his music is still just "awesome" as always. To say he should be on drugs...really?? You like his early music ok that's fine. Some don't like his music as of today. But to me and all nin fans Mr. Reznor is going strong.
