fuck i want to hear them reincorporate this into modern sets. it's such an under-appreciated composition. ringfinger 2024 version would be so sick w/ilan and allejandro putting their touch on things.
lol 2 dislikes?? dont click on a nin song if u dont like nin der! they couldn't of been nin fans cause any fan would appreciate this footage regardless the quality...thx for the video, made my night hearing this song done a lil differentially than any other live version ive heard
I love seeing these PHM-era shows. It's nice to see NIN live before a lot of the drug abuse, before all the political stuff. It's just four guys on stage playing a bunch of songs - no theatrical stuff, a basic light show. Another reason why I like these shows is that I imagine this is not unlike how it would have sounded when Trent was recording it all, it helps give an idea of how the songs themselves came together.
This album is a lot different from everything Nine Inch Nails did after it... Maybe u are limiting yourself to that electronic essence found in the overall sound of the album...or maybe you just haven't listened to all the other Halos... I strongly recommend you to listen to The Fragile in it's entirety...Nonstop...
I'd like to know how anybody on this blog know excatly what Trent (micheal) did or didn't do and I highly doubt he let any bimbo rip his world to pieces( he just used his experiences to make great music). All his songs are about feelings.
Ringfinger is very similar but has a noticeably different feel for me. TVT seems to have made him sand the edges down; imagery shifted from "you own me and can do anything you want to my detriment" in Twist ("it can go a little deeper, I love the pain") to "pseudochristian heteronormative values steeped in anguish" ("promise carved in stone, do something for me"). Also, greetings from 12 years later lol
I’m not saying you are wrong, but I doubt it. The Needle tears a Hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything... You don’t try to numb your past/present problems (kill all your feelings, but it doesn’t go away) with Coke, that’s a Heroin thing.
@@Len_M. I mean, people absolutely do use cocaine to try and numb themselves the same way they'll use whatever their drug of choice is for the same reason. Some people do cocaine, some smoke cannabis, some drink alcohol, and some shoot heroin. Regardless of what drug he's referencing in Hurt, TR only had one brush with heroin and that was when he OD'd after mistaking China White for cocaine. It could very well be a heroin reference though because TDS wasn't meant to be autobiographical and depicted a character he created -- so it's entirely possible that character used heroin. But since it's never explicitly stated, it really doesn't matter so long as we understand the concept of trying to kill pain through drug abuse -- needles just happen to be synonymous with it.
@@neilkristjansson8477 I somewhat agree, but Heroin or Opiates in general are more of a self-medicating type drug like Alcohol and all other downers. Cocaine is more of a Party drug than a substance to dull how you are feeling if you know what I mean. If you said speedballs then I could go with that as some use Heroin and Cocaine together so they don’t pass out, I’m not very familiar with that side of things. Just with experience the protagonist was definitely on a downward spiral pun intended of Heroin use then abuse.
@hellchild65 almost all of my own music was written under the influence of drugs, i wouldnt have written nearly as good of songs w/o drugs esp weed and shrooms/acid. i dont sing about them in every song that i get creative with due to drugs, or every song would be about drugs lol cuz every song is psychedelic-influenced. im sure trent was on drugs when he wrote this stuff, anyone who does drugs can tell from the way it sounds
They nailed the fuck out of Ringfinger and That's What I Get live and then just abandoned them ever since.
fuck i want to hear them reincorporate this into modern sets. it's such an under-appreciated composition. ringfinger 2024 version would be so sick w/ilan and allejandro putting their touch on things.
My favorite NIN Song; love you, Trent!😊❤️
Imagine being here back in 1989?
I never knew that the ever played this song live... fuckin' amazing!
🔥
God bless the bootleggers
Indeed. 🖤
It's amazing looking back and seeing how much a musician can grow. Great Stuff!
such bad quality and I still love it
89 folks, Ahead of his tymn!!!!
I don't think this song was ahead of its' time; it sounds like a Severed Head track, lol
Maybe ahead of its time if it came out 10 years prior
lol 2 dislikes?? dont click on a nin song if u dont like nin der! they couldn't of been nin fans cause any fan would appreciate this footage regardless the quality...thx for the video, made my night hearing this song done a lil differentially than any other live version ive heard
ikr, like they dont take into consideration the fact that this concert was in 1989, i bet the people there were having the time of their lives.
@@viablespade yep take this song and compare to nowdays top 50 most played pop song, you are going to die :)
Agreed, but I can't believe "couldn't of" existed 12 years ago when it's still "couldn't have," but the incorrect version has so much steam today.
at the Pipeline in Newark NJ.
You can barely make out "PIPELINE" behind the band. used to have this on VHS right from the guy who filmed it (Rui).
if this was the pipeline, than this was 1990, not 89
a mindblowing synergy of awesome stuff.
God damn this sounds like Ministry
@NINA9I9 OH hells yeah!!!! Best album of ALL TIME!!!!!
PHM is by far his best album, all the songs have a great melody, something which is lacking on his later releases.
it's not his albums. he just train us to believe that.
definitely yes m9
He went way more industrial and noisy rather than the synth-pop-dance sounds
@@michalus09what the hell does this even mean?
@@dontpissoffraccoons Chris Vrenna
my favorite NIN album
Simply great!!!
Sound quality is far superior to video quality.
🔥🔥🔥
This went over better than headlining Woodstock 1994, (yes i know Peter Gabriel was billed last, but who cares?)
Good one 09. Can't beat a bit of hate

love trent's t-shirt. :P
do they perform this song live anymore cause i cant find any vids of them

Everything NIN has put out is wonderful in its own way
ha! i had this footage once. bought @ traders village for 20 bones. ol trent musta been 23 or so.

...everybody has somebody that tore them apart, or smashed themselves over rocks just to try and stay in it...
2:09-2:25 ❤
@slaytallicdethrax
i completely agree.
amen man, amen.
Can't believe how skinny Trent is!
Patrick Bateman by now he's beefy.
Ringfinger is MUCH better than Twist
The different lyrics in twist/ringfinger + sounds different. I reckon that was rhetorical question but oh well :|.
LOVE YOU TRENT.
trents so hot
Does his shirt say god squad?
same question
YES. That means GOD performs it LIVE - every time you click play, is a new performance.
@SHITVIDEOSCARNEY93 i hated 80'd music....then NIN .....i am forever changed!@@@@@@@
still happy for trent though...
do u know if i could find a video with them playing it
It's basically a live sounding version of Ringfinger, with a couple of lines of worse lyrics.
pretty hate machine >>>>>>>>>>> Year Zero, The Slip
ummmmm yeah i would say that is completely accurate. Drugs make everything better.
@Hallucination
All albums after PHM were a lot more deeper and better elaborated...
The Fragile is far superior for instance...
kinda i want to is the gayest nin song

People assume it was heroin because of the line 'the needle tears a hole' but you can shoot coke too. You came a long way Trent....Academy Award?

The Needle tears a Hole
The old familiar sting

Twist is not better than this.
Nine Inch Nails sounds better live.
ha ha ha ha it's just an act of concetraction

This is bad, bad stuff - TR cannot be proud of this performance.
