I have been watching these videos for quite a few weeks now and am finally getting my “eye in”. I am narrow in the shoulders with wide hips. I have always had a lot of trouble finding dresses that fit me. I only have 4 dresses in my wardrobe at the moment. One of them, interestingly enough, is a wrap dress, and it looks gorgeous on. I took your advice and bought 2 black tops from S. Deer with ruffles at the sleeves and I have already had several compliments. Another video just on my body type would be enormously appreciated 😀
Hi Tricia! Thank you so much for the comment! I so appreciate it. Love that you enjoy S Deer as much as I do! And that the wrap style works for you. I’ve seen a lot of two piece dresses in stores lately and I think they could be a fabulous alternative when you find a one piece dress hard to fit. I definitely have a video about your body type coming up. :) Glad to see this coming together for you and cheering you on!
I love, love, love your videos about outfits and body type. Thanks for posting photos of simple outfits for certain bodies and your expert advice. Keep up the good work, we love you!
Thank you for this video. The visuals will help me in my future shopping adventures. I love fashion and I truly enjoy your hard work to make my life so much easier. God bless you. 😊
Loved this video! I’m proportional, but I found it helpful to listen to the others. The reason is because I may decide to wear something “more interesting” on the top or bottom. This could throw off my proportions if I don’t keep the balance. The other body type explanations helped me figure out how to accomplish this. Great info!
This is great Nada! You’ve made it simple and easy to visualize. I’m a proportional type without much waist definition. V neck and all over colour/pattern is definitely best on me. I’ve tried to sign up to your body type series on your website but nothing happens.
Thank you so much Ally! I’m so glad you found this helpful! I’m sorry you’re having a problem signing up! I’ve had lots of sign up, so I don’t know what could be going wrong. Please send me an email. Nada@nadamanley.com. I will make sure you are signed up!
Hi Nada - I really enjoy your channel with its positive tone and have gotten a lot of great tips from you! One thing I’d love to see you discuss is how women who don’t quite fit into the standard body types can recognize what’s not working for them & tweak your advice accordingly. As an example, I’m a short petite with a borderline proportional / strong lower body silhouette (defined waist & hips about 1 to 1-1-2” larger than bust and shoulders). After years of trial and error, I’ve found that I look best in simple, close to the body silhouettes (eg slim but not tight cigarette & slim straight pants & jeans, pencil skirts, simple sheath type dresses etc) and simple V neck and boat neck tops - ie mostly what you suggest for proportional bodies. In contrast, I would avoid both the skirt and dress outfits you showed for the strong lower body shape because I know from experience that the stiffness of the midi length skirt and the gathered fabric in the hip area of the dress would just add bulk to my hips. Since all of us have lots of little issues impacting what looks best on us, I thought a video looking at a few of them might be interesting to others!
I love this idea, and you are not at all alone! Many women find themselves a blend of body shapes, and that is something I did not address in this video due to time, but it’s a great topic for another video!
Happy Friday! Thank you for this wonderful video on dressing body types. In a way “balancing” our outfits, is like a formula and makes getting dressed easier. 😊
I have a balanced body type with very large bust that is lower to my waist. It makes it challenging to define my waist. Belts don’t work. What do yiu suggest?
Keep the neckline vertical and add balance and flattery with sleeveless or slightly shorter styles when possible. And then you can skip the waist definition. Also look for tops or add darts that go in under the best instead of hanging straight down. I hope that helps!
I am made much like you Pam. I'm proportional with a large bust & not much waist definition as it is so close to my breast & short waisted. Nada your tips & way of viewing & dressing the body has been very helpful. Thank you ❤
Nada, I have a strong upper body with a large bust (34DD). I love the popular tops with flowy long sleeves . Would this type of blouse work for my body type if the volume was at the wrist level (gathered with elastic), waist length and button up with no volume through the chest area? Banana Republic has a denim one I absolutely love but after this video I am hesitant to purchase because of the sleeves. Your information has been so helpful to me in dressing for my body type and looking in proportion. Thank you for all you do!
Great examples, thank you Nada
Yes more, I like your body type videos!👍
Banana republic has a great pair of high waisted wide leg jeans. The quality is excellent. Go down 2 sizes because they run huge.

This was so helpful, Nada! I’m slowly getting it. I guess I can cross patterned flowy pants off my list.
Love the tip for consistent pattern in dresses for the proportional body type! Makes sense!

Shared with my daughters and friend! I got to get some cigarette plants. I used to have them and loved them

Have a proportional torso but most of my extra weight is in my thighs.
Nada, do you have the link for those Theory cigarette pants? I looked them up and there are several to choose from
Hi! Yes! Everything in the video is in this catalog! hueandstripe.com/catalog/306H&SaXts
