Most time when people talk about Masculinity, what they are really talking about is Anxious masculinity , fearing a lack of masculinity and soothing the insecurity by posturing, surrounding themselves with symbols of "masculinity" to feel strong when the need of the symbols betrays the lack of it . if i had to sum it up, it would be "holding it down" , usually means keeping a party going, but it can also mean supporting those around you, feeling the responsibility to do so, and trying to be a source of strength for those around you. A strong leader is one where the system literally wouldn't work if they didnt have his leadership, not some one who cuts ribbons and just delegates responsibilities to other people to do the work (who they would steal their credit if they did a good job and blame them if they failed). Despite his tragic life and evidence that people won't care about the creation of the reavers, Malcolm chooses to believe that people will care. If that message doesn't hold up for you, then you're just Malcolm before his character development. Pessimists are just disillusioned idealists, and pessimism is easy. They are. We change our minds about things all the time. 20 years ago a majority of people were against gay marriage. Now most people are for it. It's ok to change your mind.

People are hypocrites, in other news...
I love spicy Preston. Get em!
Well, I think Bernie would have done well because he’s consistent and stands for things. Harris was the better candidate but people could see that she didn’t have conviction in whatever message the DNC has, because the DNC doesn’t have good rhetoric or messaging. Dems did a lot of good stuff but didn’t talk about it
Preston fat shaming? I don't think you understand the genetic predisposition some people have for weight gain or how Truama affects people's relationship with food.
Ozempic works because it actually reduces hunger.
Find a different target if you want to talk about people being responsible for their choices.
Where did all these republican voters come from? The polls showed how no one was voting for trump.
And where did the 13 million democrat votes go?
I'm torn between angry and distressed
6.5 million
@@enciam9791 I think you're correct. This country lives and dies by the price of a Big Mac and eggs, apparently. Many independent voters, wrongfully, believed that re-electing Trump will make things go back to how they were and, soon, they'll realize that reality isn't going down.
Realistically both Preston and I want the country to be better, under Trump or otherwise. It's not team sports for us. But that won't be the reality come the next 4 years. We all lost this one and everyone's going to figure that out sooner or later.
The polls were mostly showing a coin flip. Gaza was a no when situation for her and caused many to stay home. People in the middle are sick of the left culturally. Kamala should have tried to rally the working class instead of thinking the Cheanys were going to carry her over the finish line.
@@michaellee9926 what does the far left have to do with kamala harris? she's to the right of her vp, who is a decent centrist
@@smitty1647 The "far left" thinks Joe Biden is the worst president when it comes to labor...when the man became the first president to walk a picket line, banned the noncompete clauses, supported the PRO act and more. No matter what Joe or even Kamala did it never would've been enough for some leftists because they're not looking for a good candidate they're looking for that rare special shiny Charizard with perfect stats that they'll never find in this dimension.
But, if you only have to define your values for yourself, why couldn't you change them all the time? Without some external set of values, why couldn't they be fluid?
They are. We change our minds about things all the time. 20 years ago a majority of people were against gay marriage. Now most people are for it. It's ok to change your mind.
Addressed this in the stream, but also there doesn’t exist an external set of values that people follow. People subjectively pick and choose values when there is an external list.
@@PrestonJacobstheSweetrobin Sure, I'l listen again. Btw, I'm not donating so I'm gonna share a theory here.
Someone recently shared a theory that Others are aliens who wear spacesuits. What if there is nothing magic about obsidian or Valyrian steel, but they are simply sharp enough to cut the suits, causing the Others to evaporate due to the outside heat.
@@PrestonJacobstheSweetrobin Without an external system, the concept of good and evil don't exist. Well, universal good and evil. Even if your system of values considers "mock men" bad, someone else's doesn't.
@@picklejarmonsterfanboy9367 the goal of morality is minimizing suffering and maximizing well-being. always has been. externally imposed lists of rules from authorities are not more valid than one you build yourself. moral systems shouldn't be adopted based on whether they're transcendent somehow but on how well they actually achieve the goal of morality
