- The latest 2018 VW Discover Pro Navigation System (With Gesture). Quick run through of it's features. Fitted into a 2018 VW Golf 7.5.
We got asked to do a quick low down of the latest Discover Pro Nav system off the back of our previous system reviews.
We quickly walkthrough some of the functions of the latest Media System fitted to a brand new 2018 UK VW Golf 7.5 R. This system features Full Navigation, Digital and FM Radio along with Bluetooth Handsfree & A2DP. Includes extras such as MDI, USB, Car-Net, WLAN, Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

What's the use of gesture control if you still have to physically tap on the screen to do things? It should recognize a gesture as the click.
Is there any advantage in a Golf R 7.5 upgrading from Discovery to Discovery Pro? My friend has the Discovery system and wondered what advantages there would be to purchasing the Discovery Pro unit and if it would simply plugin and work.
I just bought one of this screen from Ali express but the small plug doesn’t fit ? It’s a little different any idea ? How to make it work ?
I have a 2016 pre facelift mk7r with the 8" discover pro nav... I want to fit the mk7.5r screen...I know this is a straight swap if i go for the 8" mk7.5 unit as I have mib2.... but would I be able to fit the 9.2" pro nave system without additional wiring.... btw.. I don't care about the digital display as I think the one in the mk7.5 is poor compared to audis VC.
If I need to change the old display part number is 5g6919605 A and add the new part number is 5g6919606 what I need to make it working
hello, thanks for the video, very well explained everything. I have egolf 2018 but on the menu display under light settings, I do not have the first two options (Dyn light assist, and Dynamic cornering light), my car equipped with Lane assist, so it has the camera R242, do you think it is possible to enable these features by any chance (by dealer or VCDS)?

It’s a review of the product so not on the website to retrofit at the moment I’m afraid.
Horrible Thing! I have this in my business Touran.
No haptic keys, no volume controller, just touch elements. You can't handle it and keep your eyes on the street.
Navigation sucks! You enter the adress, system calculates the route and the calculation is always disturbed if one of the parking sensors got a signal.
This will happen always if You exit the parking loot right after entering the target.
You can connect 2x USB and 2x SD-Card. The system is not able to read and display the device names.
The internal Jukebox has impressive low capacity! *lol*
But the handling of the jukebox is rubbish anyway and I guess everybody will use SD-Card or USB devices.
The sound is a real pain in the ass!!!
The speakers are placed in a silly way and not useable balanced.
The rear speakers are placed in the door that way a passenger will cover them and they won't let any sound out!
Maybe my x-ray-sound-module is broken or VW engenieers are totally brainless!
In the front there are tweaters in the A-Column which release only very high frequencies.
So the high frequencies reach the ear much earlier then the upper mids.
This cause a swamp sound and you get sick, if e.g. the high hat runs always offbeat.
They tell the system comes with 8 speakers.
THAT'S A LIE!!!!
They count the separated Tweater of the the 2-way-speakers as separate speakers!
In fact You get only 4 2-way-speaker! Not proper balanced! Rear speakers placed for the ass!
There is only a sound controll for high, mid and low and You can play around without a suitable result.
The system offers no sound profiles for different types of music etc.
If You want to listen to music and You know how an instrument sounds stay as far away from this rubbish as possible!!!!!!
The problem with this shit is, your brain tries to correct the wrong timing of the sound system the whole time and this causes stress!
Sadly my Touran (with many other problems) is a company car and I have to drive it a while. :-(
I use a MP3-Player and a bluetooth speaker to listen to music in this car.
The sound is thinner but the frequencies are good balanced and the timing is correct.
The BOSE Soundlink Mini II fits exactly between the stearing wheel and the displays.
I'm really not a BOSE fan, but this thing is small and the sound is OK to listen to music or audio books.
IT sounds even better then the catastrophe VW builts for thausends of Euros!
You do know the car he is showing this off in is a golf r lol. Almost everything you wrote is for problems you would find in just a touran
