For me THE HOWLING (Joe Dante 1981) is the best werewolves' movie of all time....AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON is so overrated..for me it's only a werewolf's comedy
I was blown away by Cronenberg's Scanners after seeing it on cable in the early 80's and like a couple of my friends had to see Videodrome when it was released. We were sophomores in high school ... and walked out of the theatre half dazed, half amazed a bit confused with my one friend asking me "Did you like that?" I laughed I don't know and we proceeded to talk about Debbie Harry and the cigarette burn and James Woods being swallowed by the tv lips (see Debbie) and the assassin pulling the gun from his own belly. What's not to like? About a cable channell showing snuff films? HBO was nothing like this cable channel! Anyways, Gothic seems to fit this list otherwise these movies are quite popular. Why is anything by John Carpenter on here (somebody else astutely pointed out They Live is Not horror)? American Werewolf in London? Evil Dead? Stuart Gordon movies Re-Animator and From Beyond are weird and witty and have Barbara Crampton. The getting head scene. What else needs to be said. Oh, Cat People. Nastassja Kinski. All I can see is Miss Kinski stalking her prey in nothing but her b-day suit. She somehow overshadowed Malcolm McDowell. That just doesn't happen.
Some good movies for Halloween: The Monster Squad, Beetlejuice, Fear Street: Part One - 1994 from Netflix, Fear Street: Part Two - 1978, Fear Street: Part Three - 1666 from Netflix, Ghost Stories on Shudder, Sleepy Hollow, Trick R' Treat, Casper, Hocus Pocus, Under Wraps, Ghostbusters, Monster House, Night of the Demons, The Midnight Hour, The Forgotten One, ParaNorman, Waxwork part 1, Tales from the Hood, The Frighteners, Goosebumps, Creepshow, The Gate, Lady in White, Killer Party, Fright Night part 1, The Night Flier, The Lost Boys, Demons part 1, The Changeling, Poltergeist, The Mortuary Collection, Corpse Bride, Stake Land, Hellboy from Guillermo del Toro, Blade part 1, The Woman in Black, Crimson Peak, The Devil's Backbone, The Conjuring part 1, Evil Dead, Cabin in the Woods, Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight, House part 1, Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, Dog Soldiers, My Demon Lover and Pumpkinhead!!!
not a horror film, but ROWING WITH THE WIND did almost the same story as GOTHIC, and Hugh Grant had a better take on Byron being mad as a bag of spanners
They Live, Cat People and Gothic I'll give you as being under appreciated. The rest on this list are questionable. Most of these are not underrated by horror fans
This video should be titled "10 80's Horror Movies That EVERY Horror Fan Knows By Heart"
Not to jump on the bandwagon here, but Evil Dead makes most real horror fans’ Top 20. Definitely a beloved film.
Half of these are either mainstream or well renowned horrors.
An American Werewolf in London definitely gets the credit out deserved. Every horror fan rates out highly.
I hear ya, though Evil Dead is even better regarded by most fans.
I turned this off when you tried to claim that an Academy Award winning that's often considered the best werewolf movie doesn't get enough credit.
Lol
How does ROTLD not get enough credit. Pretty much every true horror fan has seen it and loves it.
I don’t like it. Evil Dead is far more highly regarded.
Plus the cramps are on the soundtrack so it can't be all bad ⚡
When it comes to 80s werewolf movies, The Howling is underrated Not An American Werewolf in London.

Videodrome is a great film

Rotld is a hoot.

I absolutely love Gothic
Most of the movies are well known and get enough credit.
Cat People is set in New Orleans. So, YAY!!
Scanners is another one
not a horror film, but ROWING WITH THE WIND did almost the same story as GOTHIC, and Hugh Grant had a better take on Byron being mad as a bag of spanners
Oh a return of the living dead is amazing and zombie movies are my least favourite genre
They Live, Cat People and Gothic I'll give you as being under appreciated. The rest on this list are questionable. Most of these are not underrated by horror fans
OBEY worst pretending horror movie and its not…. its an action movie!
