The Philippines has claimed that China has been trying to build an artificial island at the disputed Sabina Shoal in the South China Sea. The Philippine coastguard released a video showing crushed coral allegedly dumped in the area by Chinese ships. Beijing has denied the claims as “groundless” and a “pure fabrication”.

Reminds me when China denies they are building islands in the South China Sea in 2012. And when the islands were finished China then denies they were building military facilities and instead they are only building Research facilities and safe harbor for international shis and fishing boats during emergencies like storms. This video is about an "artificial island", not "natural resorces". And islands are not considered "natural resources" under international law.
China claims all the islands, reefs, rocks etc in the SCS as part of their sovereign territory. And every country has every right to be defending their sovereign territory in any way necessary, including the use of force. All these incidents you hear are within 12nm of these claimed territories. If anything, its PH thats H'sing China. Why? Because China was the first claimant in the region to make claims on those islands. So they have the strongest claims. As for PH, in PHs sovereign handover treaty from the US, it clearly states PH has zero sovereignty over ANYTHING in the SCS. Since they have zero sovereignty over anything in the SCS, then stop making claims to islands/reefs/etc and illegally sending people over. Theyre the ones truly H'sing. "You understand now?"

A lot people don't know about this, including the Philippines.
When US defeated Spain and took over as the colonial master of the Philippines in 1898, these two countries signed the Paris Treaty of 1898. In it, both countries acknowledged that the territories of Philippines lied EAST of east meridian 118. The island in dispute? It lies west of east Meridian 118!
It is really that simple. Philippine did not grab these island until after the San Francisco Treaty of 1951, from a still-militarily-weak China. But for the policy of “anyone but China” by the world’s hegemony, there should have never had any dispute in the South China Sea.
And it wouldn’t be complete if I don’t include the fact that the USA bought the Philippines from Spain for $20,000,000 USD, right at the time when Filipinos were fighting for independence against Spain… obviously Filipinos didn’t take this lightly.
Philippines claiming a disputed island with a rusty ship is hardly any international order.

What is very strange is that, except for the support from the United States and its allies outside the region, the Philippines does not receive support from any other ASEAN country! The reason why China has been tolerant and not dealt heavy blows to the Philippines is because it is worried about the impact on ASEAN countries.
ASEAN never said they support Philippines but everytime they talk about South China Sea they always mention follow the international laws and freedom of navigation which obviously if not mentioned is directly pointing to China. It's West Philippine Sea for Filipinos by Philippine mandate but it is still South China Sea by international standards and maritime mapping. Unless Philippines is able to internationally rename the area to West Philippine sea were even official international maps are change. Foreigners/non Filipinos are still allowed to use South China Sea name. Also if Philippines is able to change South China Sea name, then countries can also change the Philippine Sea in the East of the Philippines to South Japan Sea or West Palau Sea.
