I never got to see him live, damn! So lucky to have the vids on youtube. I've been enthralled with him since the mid-seventies. A real talent and a wonderful human.

His music really takes me back to the day of driving in my 69 Datsun Pick-up, jogs memories of old friends/girlfriends, but this great to see a live performance for the first time. A great talent who stands on the shoulders of angels, gone too soon.

I loved his music since I was a sophomore in High School in 1972 and at a party one of my friends put on his first LP "Home Free" and we listened to "The River". GOD I miss the man and his music!

First off, Thanks again for sharing all this wonderful concert video! Dian could rock with the best of them!! Love his guitar encore! There was nothing the man couldn't do and those of us who are diehard fans know that from listening to more than just his hits, which in my opinion don't come close to showing the depth of his talents!! He was so gifted!!

Oh yeah, , Dan was being polite trying to let his bandmates take a lead but then he finally kicked in and played such a great soulful leadbreak, love "Fools Gold", great band, love the steel guitar in particular, that went missing on Dan's later work. Thank you Tim for sharing this most special concert with us!

Saw him twice, Public Hall in Cleveland, and Blossom Music Center in Ohio. He was spool good, made me want to quit songwriting/singing/playing. Didn't... Love his music forever.

YES....Greg Palumbo.....I could not agree more.......the entire Netherlands album needs to be seen here on video, if Dan ever performed all of it anywhere......though I kind of doubt it.....

Wow! This is an awesome encore that absolutely kills it! Thank you so much for letting us glimpse the ending of this performance on the 7th anniversary of the day Dan made his transition to what I know must have been a grand celebration awaiting his arrival.

Wow - This is akin to finding The Holy Grail! Tim - as a Dan fan of over 40 yrs and since Homefree, this is the best group of videos one could have hoped for. I honestly did not know any pre-Netherlands live video existed !! Thanks, Thanks, Thanks...May I ask - where did it come from...it is a superb professional shooting. Greg Palumbo. I would love it if the entire Netherlands album live had been shot. Very much, Miss Dan Our Man - who became a large part of my life for 4 decades, much like the Beatles, James Taylor, Bruce and the Eagles. (Good Company!!)

Dan was staying in the same hotel I was on Oahu North Shore, back in 1982. I was kind of hanging with the guy selling art in the Hotel and He told me his band might play in the club. I was about as high as I had ever been, so I went into the bar, got a drink and waited. I spotted a pretty woman and offered to buy her a drink and she complied, turned around and there was Dan. I guess I picked the wrong woman. As the Raven Flies was the only song of his I could think of at the time, as he was a little more mellow than my tastes at then. He acted as if he never did the song, but I think he might have been just a little pissed and maybe because he ran into many others that knew nothing else he did. My brother who loved Zebob said Warren hated Werewolves of London, likely for the same reason. His band played, but I don't recall him singing. Good music. I always liked this song. I might do it in Kareoke, if they have it.

This should be the unofficial theme of the Drama Queens pod. (If you know anything about One Tree Hill, you'll get the reference.) One of my 4 or 5 favorites by Dan. Period.
BTW, the songs played during the encore are the ones that the artist wants to do for themselves as much as they want to close the show for the fans on a great note (no pun intended here). Clearly, Dan and Fools Gold wanted to truly do ATRF justice, and the best way to do that was to make it part of the encore where they could REALLY stretch it out.

There were actually two guys....Tom Kelly is the singer/bass player you can see and Denny Hensen , a very gifted singer, is the third part of the harmony...together, they were know here as Fools Gold, in another incarnation they sang in the band "The Guild"...Irving Azoff hooked them up in Champaign-Urbana, sort of - an incredible amount of talent, along with the rest of the band...on one stage!!! Dan was a stand alone talent!!!!!!!!!! but with this band they were a very BIG presence in live shows...
