    The Subway is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. There was a large group of us from Zion Lodge where we worked who hiked it on a day off. Half of us were seasonal with the others being full-timers including my son and his wife. I am so glad I got to go.

    Last time we were in the area we couldn’t get a subway permit, but instead got a permit for keyhole canyon. So glad we did as it was amazing! I can’t recommend it enough for a beginner canyon. We hope to make it back to do the subway sometime soon.

    One of my favorite hikes I've ever done. My brother and I did it when we were broke and stupid, so we nearly got lost before the canyon section and didn't have any gear except a rope that was barely long enough. I was also delighted to find a HUGE, bloated, white dead rat floating in one of the swimmers after I had swum around in it for 15 minutes looking for my sunglasses. Definitely recommend this hike though, it's really cool.

    the death you referenced at about 10:15 did NOT occur at Keyhole Falls where you mentioned it. That accident occurred at the final, exit rappel, though not off the bolts that you used. There was webbing on a log 20 feet upstream from where you rapped, which left them rappelling in the water course, which precipitated the unfortunate accident.

    • @LiveThatAdventure
      @LiveThatAdventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the correction! Some of the research we found mentioned Keyhole Falls as the site of the accident. Either way, it is meant to warn people about the danger of this hike and not to take it casually. We definitely appreciated the corrected info! Have a wonderful day.

      @@LiveThatAdventure , @rickthompson2739 is correct. I think some news outlets got confused because the couple had completed Keyhole Canyon in preparation for Subway and there is a separate Keyhole *Falls* in the Subway, which you point out at the 10:00 mark.

    would a dry suit be better than a wet suit or just make things more complicated?

    • @LiveThatAdventure
      @LiveThatAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dry suits are nice to protect you from the cold. There are only 2 problems with them. Canyoneering is really hard on your gear and a small hole in a dry suit ruins it. The other problem is that dry suits can be crazy expensive.

      Hello, are you planning on doing the bottom up route? The route that we did on the video is considered semi technical and requires Canyoneering experience. I'm not a fan of permits either but I do understand their reasoning. It's a beautiful place so the limit it to 50 visitors a day so it doesn't turn into a zoo. And it can be dangerous so with the permit system in place, if something happens, the park service will have an idea of who hasn't made it out.
