Thank you for the helpful video on begonias. This is my first time trying to grow any from bulbs. I saw them at Costco and figured I'd give them a try. I'll have to also watch your follow-up on the re-potting.
i have one begonia plant from last year but it does not look very good and has only a few leaves. Any advice to get it better? thank you. I am in zone 10b, and we never get any frost.
I was given 3 begonia bulbs for mother's day. The directions never said to sit them out and let them sprout. So I waited a worried probably longer than necessary, lol. Anyway, thank you - I'll know next time. Now I'm just wondering how long before I'll see my gorgeous pink and white Picotee flowers. My very first begonias ever. I'm in 10a so I'm hoping I don't need to overwinter them.
I have some of those same type of Begonia bulbs I bought from Costco last season and never planted and some of the red Begonias have beautiful sprouts that are several inches long now...should I still start them in smaller pots in my sunroom before transferring them into larger pots or can I plant a couple of them in a bigger pot? How many of those Begonia bulbs can you put in a really large pot? 3 or 5 or will they get too big? I was hoping to put at least two of one color and one of another for contrast. Also, I live in zone 10b? on the coast and we don’t get a frost so can I leave the bulbs in the pots over the winter or should I still dig them up? Thank for the Advice!
Here is a link to the blog post on planting begonias and it may have more guidance for you:www.flowerpatchfarmhouse.com/planting-begonias/ Here is what I have heard about spacing in pots: A good rule of thumb is 6″ pot for one begonia, an 8″ pot for 2 begonias and a 12″ pot for 3 begonias. I am fairly certain you can leave yours in the pots over winter as long as they don't sit in water and have good drainage.
@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse - Well, I wasn’t feeling well and waited to check the bulbs and one of the varieties sprouted and has really long growth already...when I put pot them, do I just plant it or should I trim any of the growth?
I live in zone 10b as well and got the same kind of Caladium and Canna bulbs from Costco and have had them in my garage, I just checked them yesterday and the Caladium bulbs have started sprouting. 😁
I don't think so, my begonias did terrible that year, they just refused to flower despite growing into fabulous plants. I gave them away. The year before they did gorgeous, so who knows.
I am not certain of your question, please send a complete question. TH-cam does not put your comments together so if you asked something on another video I don't know what it is. I will answer as soon as I know what you are asking. Thank you so much.

And I was able to over winter the bulbs this year and some are growing again.
You are killing me !!! Every time you show a bag of plants you got I want it too
I hear you, I have the same affliction when I watch or read about what others are planting.

How warm is it right now, they like it warm and humid. It might just take off when we get those above 70 temps.
Nice video. By the way, what solution to do make and use to sterilize your reusable pots each year? Thanks!
After giving them a good scrub down in hot soapy water I soak them in a 10% bleach solution. 10 parts water, one part bleach.

In your zone you most likely do not need to and I hope you get lots and lots of blooms soon.
@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your help.
Bello mi piace molto grazie per il video
Prego!
What is the distance between the shelves on your plant stand ?
They vary according to what I place on them.

How do you handle those dahlia tubers that came from Costco bags? They are already spouting but it’s too early to even set them up in the pots inside
I have mine going inside. I don't know when you expect to be able to put yours outside but I can't usually until June.
i got caladiums from cosco. and i planted more than a month ago but nothing happens yet! i am in zone 10b
They like it warm just like the Begonias do and they may be waiting for warmer temps.
@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse thank you, it’s my second year gardening so I have a lot to learn. Thank you for making these videos. They are very helpful
