Karen, really appreciate meeting Peter. This video was so professional, clear, well done from both ends. I recently saw another video with two well known designers and it was so sad that you could not see their quilts clearly at all. Thank you for your videos.
I put together a variation of the disappearing nine patch by adding a strip to one side and another to the top or bottom. After cutting the patch and putting it back together gives the quilt a more random look - yet was easy and quick to put together. My husband calls it the "granny blanket" because it reminds him of the quilts his grandmother and her friends would put together. *I enjoyed the interview. It was very informative. Thank you.

Very enjoyable interview. I also made a pair of covid quilts to express my experience and my hope for the new normal. “Shuttered” and “Unshuttered” are gorgeous! He talks about quilt design, experimentation, vision, revision and construction the way artists, writers and musicians talk about their process. There is a Major Thought to be communicated. The most intensely personal thoughts are the most universal. The artist’s unique rendition resonates with thousands in the audience. The story alludes to many other, older stories but is purely in the moment. Thank you for a lovely discussion of art.
Thank you so much for having Peter share with us. I've learned so much from you both. I'm one of those small apartment people and have no available wall so I use my queen sized bed for sandwiching. I remove all the bedding except the fitted sheet. I slide my cutting mat between the sheet and the quilt bottom and slide it along as I pin or bast. It's a bit of a pain but if I sit in a kitchen chair it's do able. When it's all done but near the head of the bed I just pick the whole thing up and rotate it so the head of the quilt is at the foot of the bed and keep going. I will most likely stick with quilt as u go after this one cause this is the second time I've done this craziness. And it's pretty crazy indeed!

I don't have that individual creative brain, but that doesn't mean I don't deeply appreciate it others.
@@JustGetitDoneQuilts I'm a long time sewer and have been making quilts for 7 or 8 years now. I primarily only make King and Queen. I just don't have the creative piece to design my own. Keep the videos coming!

We were fortunate enough to go to QuiltCon this year. I loved how they displayed his quilts. You are right that looking at the back side was almost as great as seeing the front. Thank goodness we got it in before the quarantining.

I am new to actually quilting myself but not to sewing. I so much appreciate the techniques in making quilts and all the creative ideas that can be done even with the simplest and basic patterns. His explanation of Hoover quilting reminds me of the quilt my great grandmother made me when I was born. It's little Dutch girl/Sunbonnet Sue. She used a sheet and just appliqued everything on it. Even the sashing to make them look like separate blocks. In some places you can see where there is 3 different fabrics overlapping. I still have it and still love it.
Really enjoyed this edition of the KB Quilt Circle! Just finished emailing Peter to sign up for one of the IG workshops - how clever is that, doing a workshop on IG?! About as clever as coming up with Stashbuster designs, eh?! I love it when bright folk get together and share!

I'm not sure you make mistakes when you play. You find things that work, things that need to be rethought, and things that don't work. You learn from each of these and learning is never a mistake. That's how my grandmother started to teach me fabric arts and I still play with fabric and thread. After 80 years of that play, it's still fun and instructional.
As I watch this interview I’m almost crying, because I missed the opportunity to take Peter’s course on City Scapes at Fabric Spark quilt shop. I had got the last spot in the class, and was over the moon with joy. Then Covid hit, everything got cancelled, and I lost my opportunity. Sigh. I really don’t think I could take a class on Instagram: I have no printer and my tech is just too down-level to work properly. I really wanted to take the class in person, at a shop I could even walk to! Maybe in a couple of years they’ll have more in- person classes, but alas I won’t be living in Toronto anymore so even that will be trickier. (Of course by then, his celebrity will likely be too great, and classes will be out of my price range). The repercussions of this stupid pandemic are great and small, but all pretty depressing. You have a creative mind and make beautiful quilts. Always learning. Thank you for sharing what you do.
