Joe Pass said something similar about how he came up with what he does with his right hand . I agree about the TV, and I should do the same thing about my computer, for the most part (present company excluded, of course). I get a lot more practicing in when I'm not worried about what people say about what politicians say. Amazing what I can accomplish when I stop wasting time.
Putting the chords "on the long notes" is something I remember hearing you say way back in the JBGI days, and I always cringe when I see someone ask you about your "approach" to chord/melody. Personally, any problems I have with working out a tune in this way are always because I don't really know the tune that well, and I don't know my inversions. I might think I do, but chord/melody is a good test of what I truly know (as opposed to what I can just talk about on a forum).
Thanks, Jimmy -- glad the site is coming along the way you want it to.

I agree about the TV. We are retired and my wife has the TV on from the minute she gets up to bedtime and it drives me nuts! I find myself watching too much TV and feeling guilty about not practicing instead. Lately I have cut my TV time in half so I trying to practice more.

Jimmy is one of those people where musical ideas seem to flow out of his left hand effortlessly. Very cool to watch this. So happy he has made a complete recovery. He seems to be in a very good place. Makes us all very happy.

Jimmy, I've just taken up guitar in my really late years, but only recently discovered you as one of the all time greatest guitarists ever. You're the Star on my Pandora Radio Station, and have heard so much of your playing, I'm getting to recognize your comping in a mix of players. You should have been a superstar, or at least in Guinness Book for fastest fingers; I don't hear anyone who comes close.
I'm thinking it had to be you were a bit young in the early 60's when jazz was still getting some play in America - timing is everything, almost. Just ordered my first electric guitar while I'm learning scales and chords on my acoustic. Love your style, thanks for the videos. ciao.
