  • Today is a quick video on how we set up our fixture to machine blocks in our Haas VF-4. This is fixturing that we made in house for the jobs that we have. It may not be the best or fanciest, but it really works well for what we do!

Looks like your mounting stand on the left side is made of aluminum. Do you worry about more expansion, which would raise that side higher if the temperature changes? The aluminum will expand 1/10,000 over a meter with a 3 degree Celsius rise in temp. Your stand looks like maybe a foot. So call it a third of that expansion. Fast calculations mean a 9 degree F rise in temp would move it up by 1/10,000. Maybe not enough if you're not worried about 5/10,000s.

We usually keep the machine and coolant pretty close on temperature. From summer to winter, the shop does change about 20*, but its gradual and I usually check the bar after 5 or so blocks, just to make sure nothing moved so I can adjust it there if needed too.

What 4th axis set up is that ? Where can I get that precision bar and pillow mount stand ?

It is a haas HRT 310. I made the bar, pillow block and stanchion here.

Is that a VF4? What is the Z travel on that? Did you get a machine with extra Z or extra spindle to table clearance?
    Thanks for the video.

Yes, it's a VF-4. I got the extra clearance table and that was enough to clear everything I needed.

    Hallo
    Thanks for nice video
Ouestion how do you fix blok on bar?
    Greetings

we use machined rings to fit into the main bores so the blocks are on center to the bar. The block is then tightened down with caps that have a flat that matches the flat on the bar.

What kind of the axle-bearing, How to solve the axial force?

    • @paragonengines1924

I made the bearing and it helped with accuracy a bunch.
