Bill's motto on the show: Wow you're an interesting person, I'm glad you came to interview me and learn my special thoughts.
And please excuse my pathetic low tolerance to pot and that I'm a lightweight trying to be a big dog on the porch even though I'm showing the entire world I can't hang...
What's a "modo"?
Not an Interview, it's a conversation. Bill has stated this
@@ibuydigital1574 Bill treats the conversation AS IF HE IS BEING INTERVIEWED, as if we are all so anxious to only hear HIS THOUGHTS.
Dude keeps pulling Chris off topic. Bill, shut the up. Let him talk. Holy shit.
The Southern Harmony and Musical Companon was MY “Exile on Main Street”. Love that Chris is so much calmer and talkative now. Great interview!
That album hooked me in forever. Epic.
Mine is Amorica. I do love Southern Harmony, though. Awesome album.
Chris and the Crowes are the Best 🤟❤️
Mine as well. I know more tunes on that than exile - generational thing. Classic.
GREAT album! What a great 2nd album. Not an easy feat. Agree, Chris was quite easy to listen to here.
Chris Robinson such an interesting well read great sense of humour guy. Was total pleasure this one.
Chris is very observant and interesting. Great interview.
17 minutes in, and bill has no idea what chris does in the band. 😂
That was so cringeworthy. Might’ve been a good idea to google your guest before you talk to them Bill.
Hes high as hell ..Chris shared some of that voodoo weed with him before the show and it tore him up
"You are a great guitarist" ......douchechills..
And apparently the band is crunchy🤣🤣
Too much wacky tabacky!
Chris is definitely a well read man.
An intellectual.
Speaks his mind effectively.
My husband and I saw this and immediately clicked to watch. Both my husband and I wished Bill had not talked over Chris so much. We are such big fans of Chris.
I agree! And it always happened when Chris was telling a really interesting story. Bill does an amazing monologue but he’s not the best interviewer.
I agree. Bill is self absorbed.
@@ajparr5585 He's not self-absorbed, he's just stoned.
yeah he does this all the time, but he should probably have a little more awareness of it, as he is a veteran professional trying to create a product and an inviting space@@american_cosmic
check out the Bob Lefsetz podcast, he's ask's great questions and actually listens to the answers, Bob's the best in the industry he spends 2 hours with Chris
So disrespectful he doesn't do any homework on his guest, Chris is a great guitarist 😂
I’m a huge Crowes fan. Great podcast. BUT I wonder if the guests sign a waver before they come on saying you will let Bill interrupt you after every sentence…
Just like a normal conversation, fancy that
Almost 2 hours of Chris Robinson ❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Damn I’m happy!
"she talks to angels" is one of my all time favorites... i remember blasting it in Powell WY during one of my adventures in living all over the US
it was also the inspiration for let her cry by hootie
Sort of like Wild Horses.
i actually was really good friends with Darius in college he lived on my dorm floor. I was the 1st manager he ever had !!! I booked a show at a small club in Columbia SC for him and some of our friends that played guitar and bass... like in 1985@@richardmulkey1772
I'm a university professor in China, and I teach my students that song... 🎉
@creamydistortion Your country's leader are as evil as the Communist Damnedocrats
Bill....could you possibly allow your guests to complete one gotdamn sentence without interrupting them...just one time?
😂🤣😅😆
sorry not happening lol
....didn't you realise, it's not about his guests, it's all about him. This is his way of doing therapy on himself
He can't.
This is so frustrating to listen to. It’s like an itch under your skin. Can anybody finish a sentence ! I can’t remember ever hearing so many half sentences.
Thank you guys for getting together! I always wanted to hear Chris' voice outside of his craft. He's so easygoing and funny! I thought he lived in a coffin during the day 🤣! Chris could do well with a rock and roll podcast. He has a presence and a following of fans too. A recipe for fuckin awesome chats! Thank you again!
Amorica is an Island record for me, one of my all time faves, love Chris and the CRB/Crowes!
90s kid from Alabama here, and I like and listen to many different genres and eras. Black Crowes are timeless!! They still rock and feel good!! Yay boys!! I still cry at "talks to angels"....it's a great song, but has some deep personal relevance for me and my family!
Chris Robinsons first solo album was New Earth Mud.When I sleep with a new woman for the first time I put on that album and they fall in love.Thank you Chris for giving me alot of problems.lol.
Goodness, Chris is impressive. He is such a genuinely thoughtful, insightful and articulate person. Bill Maher is all over the place (for some fairly obvious reasons), but my already high opinion of Chris has just zoomed up even further.
Very decent dude, Chris Robinson. Intelligent and looks at life through a perspective of a reader. You can always tell a genuine, deep reader from childhood. Great job man!
😎
Love the Jimi convo section.. glad to hear a long form interview with Chris Robinson but dam... wish Bill would stop interrupting him.
The guests truly are random ❤
Chris Robinson = Natural Cool.
Yeah, no question. But you gotta know your screen name is pretty cool, too.
It would be great if Bill didn't keep talking over his guest.......
dude. i love Bill, but i was screaming at my computer the same thing. Shut up. Chris Robinson is so interesting. And he tells great stories. Bill should have just let the guy riff.
Chris is intelligent, funny, and a beautifully artistic soul. What a pleasure to see him being his cool, sexy self.
Chris seems to have really matured and calmed down and has profound insights into creativity and music ... Sure would have been nice to hear him speak on it.
As a general principal, People without children tend to be more selfish in nature. Never have I seen Bill offer his guest a drink before pouring himself one.
He does it often.
Nit pick
Love Chris Robinson & Black Crowes! Chris, very thoughtful kind intelligent man!
I had no idea who this was but it was by far and away the best CR to date. Nice to hear someone else steering the conversation, and away from the usual Maher tropes. A rare instance of Bill being demonstrably more interested in his guest than himself.
Agree. What a difference to the episode with Patrick Bet David. It's nice that Trump isn't the topic on every show.
Thorn in my pride is my favourite song by the crowes. The 2nd album is my favourite by them
I saw the name Chris Robinson, and clicked immediately. I’m surprised I recognized the name considering I first saw black crows “hard to handle” on MTV when I was 9 or 10. Loved it!
omg the music is so fucking fantastic. I wish we could go back. HOLY SHITBALLS.
They played that video/song on mtv all the time great song cover song
I felt the same way!
SAME!! I had shit to do!! Wow! haha 2 fuckin' hours laterrrr!! LOL
Grateful Dead and Pigpen covered Hard to Handle from 69'-71' and it was great. Then over 20 years later the Black Crows covered it and it was just as great, if not better. When I think about the song Hard to Handle, the Black Crows version is always what comes to my mind. Well, that, and the Dead version from 8/6/71. "Yes I ram"
Robinson....love him or hate hate him....Crowes are a great American rock band!
Love Black Crowes, Christopher has a delightful personality and seemingly rather sane compared to many who found success in the music industry
Love chris as a guest. Haven’t missed a show. Please please offer him a drink😂😂
What an interesting , funny, smart conversation. A good natural ebb and flow. Bravo to both of you.
Christ dude, let him talk. This isn’t an interview or a discussion, it’s Bill Maher pummeling Chris Robinson with words.
I completely agree. I am a fan of both Bill and especially Chris. Bill needs to talk much less and listen more and he would be much better at this.
@@WazzupWill It's like the big blunt he's smoking just makes him talk more 😮😅 I don't get it. Love them both ❤ This is very disappointing 💙👌💙✌️❤️🌼
It was Faye Dunaway in Barfly and not Lauren Hutton.
Chris Robinson is such a cool man. What a singer. The new Black Crowes album is superb.
"we used to smoke weed becasue we were outlaws not because we were patients" YES!!
It must be awesome to be Bill. Imagine never having to learn anything because you already know everything. Pretty great.
I loved the Black Crowes. This guy is a blues/rock genius.
Every show
Bill finger f*cking the ice cubes for 10 minutes
Bill: so where did you grow up?
Guest: well we lived in Pasadena until I was.....
Bill: PASADENA! I did a show there last year..let me tell you about Pasadena...
Bill: What made you want to get into acting?
Guest: Well my father was an actor and....
Bill: YOUR FATHER WAS AN ACTOR? Let me tell you about my father
exactly
You're right, every show.
🎩 Hats off to you.
Chris seems like a cool cat w/a great thirst for knowledge, was a pleasure listening.
I don't smoke weed anymore but I actually felt stoned watching this.
Enjoyed this conversation. Born 1958. I relate to it all. Black Crows....awesome. ❤
Chris could be a comedian. He's hysterical!😅
I love this man ... seeing the Black Crows live is simply the best ... two drummers... only band that sounds better live. Let's go!!
Two drummers?
@@treydodson2659 th-cam.com/video/v6tgwxC2kJk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=d9co58-Hy_EVfh3j
Crowes have one drummer.
@@michaeloliva1775 They have two at the live shows. I've seen it.
@@richpatino AGAIN, I have seen the Crowes over 35 times, through every lineup, since 1990. In the studio and live, they have ONE drummer.
Chris is a great , funny, informed and charming guest. Great episode.
This podcast is killing it
I saw the black crowes with ZZ Top back in the day. What an amazing album shake your money maker was. Lifetime fan of Chris and the Crowes.
That's not even one of their best albums. They are amazing. So is CRB.
@@stevef4010 I agree
Saw them on ZZ Top tour when they left the stage because they didn't like the security reactions on fans. Didnt miss them necessarily.
They eventually got kicked off the tour in 91 for bashing the tour sponsor Miller Lite
Bill!! Serve your guest first. lol 😂
BM is what toxic entitlement looks like. theres a reason he's not been married, he'd let the door slam on his dates face...
He missed the lesson on being a courteous host. He’s too full of himself to think of others around him.
It's a BYOB gig
Great question.
@@alaincharnier1971Tequila
"I love my brother".He really means it.
Yes they may fight, but don't ever get in between them or they will turn on you
@@shable1436 they had to have been under tremendous stress through the 90'but they came out the other side together.I kneed a new crow record to deal with my own stresses and I know they won't disappoint me.Never have.
I have never seen a host so inept. Chris handled this interview very well. Kudos to him!
Great conversation... My favorite Club Random so far.. The Crowes are one of my all time favorite bands. Thanks for posting this!
Bill: "What's the scariest Country you've ever played?" Chris: "Mississippi!"
This is the best episode.
💯
Martin Short was worth the price of admission too.
An Woody too…
She Talks to Angles uses the same open tuning as Duane Alman's beautiful instrumental called Little Martha. If you slow Little Martha down, you can easily blend the rhythms, melodies and suddenly Little Martha has a voice. According to Duane Alman, Little Martha was taught to Duane by Jimmy Hendrix in a dream.
Jumping Jack flash, and can't always get what you want, Rocky mountain way. Open E tuning is one of the best slide tunings there is besides open D, and open G, they all have different flavors and variations of tones and moveable finger placements that are easy to remember. Good players can play the same song on all different tunings, capo of course if needed
nice to hear from you chris - nice that you read...I read 262 books last year. Too busy this year to hit that number. Be well, you're looking and sounding great. Be safe brother. SteveInVancouver.
Dude brings Bill a sack and Bill still sits there with the blunt in his hand for 25 full minutes before he even lights it and another five before he passes if you're reading this and you're going to go on to Bill's show and you want to smoke some weed either bring your own or do not pass that MF back
He is a total poser, light weight who is a wanna be rock star but ain't any where close to it...too bad Chris had to get some geriatric baby sitting experience for 1.5 hours...he handled it well...I would have been like this dude is a waste of time.
My guess is by the time the show started they were both already VERY high.
It would take maybe Willie Nelson to get Chris stoned...he's not a light weight...
@@michaeloliva1775
Geez Bill, you couldn't quickly check, even god forbid, a Wiki page before you interview a guest to figure out what they do for a living?? Especially when you proclaim to be such a music fan? Wow, I'm stunned.
Too high and uncaring. Calls Chris a great guitarist. "Oh that's your brother."
Great podcast Bill! Very informative stuff tonight! Seen the Crowes 15+ times all over the world!! SF, NY, London etc.. Hey everyone!
Bill, pass the joint,you bogart.😅
This guy is SO MUCH MORE impressive than I would have guessed. Sorry if that sounds like a back handed compliment. He's mellow, & well read. What a juxtaposition to many Stereotypes. Plus a good sense of humor & himself- "Rhoda"😃. I only know the few songs played on radio, I ought to check them out, their catalog.
For sure, Patrick, Chris is a great student of the arts and music, is quite funny, candid and is a killer performer to boot, one of the best front men in rock.
If you do, punch up his solo work of The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, leans away from the harder rock of the Crowes and more into the jammy side of music aka Little Feat, Allmans, Dead, they are awesome.
@@dougw7804Absolutely. I was very pleasantly surprised to find his solo records were very good! Chris is a continuation of the late 60’s early 70s type artist. He’s very serious about what he does.
Loved every second of this. Chris Robinson's a cool cat!
Best Part of My Sunday 🙌🫶✨️ ❤ You Bill
I saw Chris Robinson at the Phases of the Moon festival in Danville IL. He was amazing and even though that festival was a shitshow, it was worth it to see him live.
Great guest - intelligent and pleasant.
Bill got weed and struggled with opening it ... funny as hell!
and proceeded to insult his guest that brought him the gift by tossing it to the side because he could not immediately open it - like the child he is.
Thank you Chris. 🎼🎶🎵
Chris is hip to a lot , super interesting , i enjoyed this talk so much!
The early misfire aside, this was a fantastic conversation 👌
I love that Chris is back talkin to his brother life is to short I’m sure they are to so stoked to see them again in concert hell ya
Chris's Joke about no Smokey and the Bandit 3 at Blockbuster literally made me burst out laughing 😂
It would have been great if the guest could have finished elaborating on more of his ideas. The host is that guy who has to reflexively interrupt and show that he gets it .. more. CR is very gracious.
Faye Dunaway played Wanda Chris not Lauren Hutton. She co-starred in "Barfly"
Bill - please 🙏 Have your good friend, Jerry Seinfeld, on Club Ramdom!!! Please!
Chris, you are my favorite! Can’t wait to see you & Rich at the Show!🎉❤
"Sometimes a guy needs a shoelace". Lol
Wish they would have touched on CRB. Unless I missed something? That band along with Green Leaf Rustlers were his best and most creative work.
I would agree with you, but most people either don't know who they are or don't care enough. It's pretty obvious here that Maher hasn't followed Chris's career so I doubt he even knows CRB existed.
CRB was amazing. Too bad their guitarist passed. So sad.
@@dr.gregoryweisswassernd7251 Neal was a treasure.
@@gnrledzep4eva I agree. Amazing player. Great tone and use of effects. He will be missed.
Addressing to Chris if he ever reads this... I remember when your first record came out. Our baseball team went on the travels winning state and losing in the regional finals. So close to the Junior world series tournament. Our team got to travel and the experience was amazing. "Hard to Handle", just broke, the New England circuit was blasting out your first record. I will never forget those days with my mates and coaches. We rode in minivans traveling blasting out new "Black Crowes" mixed in with Styx songs and "The Cult" Electric on the radio stations at the time. Good times . I got a refresh when I turned 19 and my elbow arm went bad. I really loved the "Amorica" album. I practiced guitar to your albums and CD's. 8 hours a day. Practiced and practiced. My favorite at the time was Albert King. The tone. He should be known as "Albertone King"
Great episode!! Slash is another great rockstar that lives near enough to you Bill. That'd be entertaining. Love the rockstars. Thanks!
Chris is hilarious!
That Chris Robinson is an Indica guy makes him at least 50% cooler.
at the very least 50% more chill
Love Chris Robinson! He went to school with my buddy at Sprayberry High School in Marietta GA. Always great in concert & always gracious with fans.
And no politics! Unheard of these days. 😊
I went to a water park in that city back in the day.
My Dad was a neonatal Dr at Piedmont hospital in Buckhead, and delivered both brothers. He was the first person to touch him, and Chris saw in the world, my dad delivered babies for over 40 years, so he has delivered lots of ppl who ended up being famous.
Awesome chat, really enjoyed being a fly on the wall for this one, thanks guys!
Holy crap. Ok, "Art is a receipt for pain." Am I just stoned or is this profound? Help.😁
Chuck Palahniuk’s “Diary” a novel. Pain and mental illness have links to famous art.
bill maher is like slow TV
This is my new favorite Club Random episode.
Really enjoyed this, Chris is sweet!
Holy shit someone broke down and bought a pair of freakin’ ice tongs……
Thank god!
Bill likes music and has no clue of the greatness of Jimi Hendrix. So many great songs in such a short period of time. Electric Ladyland and Axis Bold as Love are masterpieces.
Amazing episode! I was riveted, thanks! And I'm still laughing over that airlines joke!
I’m impressed with Chris’ knowledge of music (Louvin Bros! They’re great! Early-Barrett- Pink Floyd!) and French Symbolists (Baudelaire). Two pretty smart guys here.
Dude I hate those zip lock dispensary weed bags. I'm not even old as bill and I have a problem opening them. jars all the way😊
Didnt know he was so funny😂😂😂 a natural!
Love a good long form interview with solid people. Yeah BOYS ❤
Bill is as enthused about recording these ads as I am about listening to them.
The term underrated gets tossed around too easily in my opinion. That said, The Crowed are seriously very underrated. Their first two albums are iconic, iconic against all the grain that was happening at that time. And their albums that followed were just as good even though many people fell off due to a major style change in the late 90s scenes. Seeing them live, there are not many bands left that can do what they do live. And of course, there is always a sense of urgency with them because you never know how long the bros will get along 🤣
Wish they wouldn't talk over each other so much! I think this guy is the first guest that interrupts more than Bill.
Conversation. It's a conversation
That was exquisite ty CR!
Love the black crowes …. Classic rock at the height of grunge…killer songs
Bill, you need to really listen to your guest more, they speak and you don't even hear them talk? Chris says things and your busy making a drink.
