90s kid from Alabama here, and I like and listen to many different genres and eras. Black Crowes are timeless!! They still rock and feel good!! Yay boys!! I still cry at "talks to angels"....it's a great song, but has some deep personal relevance for me and my family!

Grateful Dead and Pigpen covered Hard to Handle from 69'-71' and it was great. Then over 20 years later the Black Crows covered it and it was just as great, if not better. When I think about the song Hard to Handle, the Black Crows version is always what comes to my mind. Well, that, and the Dead version from 8/6/71. "Yes I ram"

My Dad was a neonatal Dr at Piedmont hospital in Buckhead, and delivered both brothers. He was the first person to touch him, and Chris saw in the world, my dad delivered babies for over 40 years, so he has delivered lots of ppl who ended up being famous.

For sure, Patrick, Chris is a great student of the arts and music, is quite funny, candid and is a killer performer to boot, one of the best front men in rock. If you do, punch up his solo work of The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, leans away from the harder rock of the Crowes and more into the jammy side of music aka Little Feat, Allmans, Dead, they are awesome.

So close to the Junior world series tournament. Our team got to travel and the experience was amazing. "Hard to Handle", just broke, the New England circuit was blasting out your first record. I will never forget those days with my mates and coaches. We rode in minivans traveling blasting out new "Black Crowes" mixed in with Styx songs and "The Cult" Electric on the radio stations at the time. Good times . I got a refresh when I turned 19 and my elbow arm went bad. I really loved the "Amorica" album. I practiced guitar to your albums and CD's. 8 hours a day. Practiced and practiced. My favorite at the time was Albert King. The tone. He should be known as "Albertone King"

Open E tuning is one of the best slide tunings there is besides open D, and open G, they all have different flavors and variations of tones and moveable finger placements that are easy to remember. Good players can play the same song on all different tunings, capo of course if needed
I would agree with you, but most people either don't know who they are or don't care enough. It's pretty obvious here that Maher hasn't followed Chris's career so I doubt he even knows CRB existed.
I’m impressed with Chris’ knowledge of music (Louvin Bros! They’re great! Early-Barrett- Pink Floyd!) and French Symbolists (Baudelaire). Two pretty smart guys here.
The term underrated gets tossed around too easily in my opinion. That said, The Crowed are seriously very underrated. Their first two albums are iconic, iconic against all the grain that was happening at that time. And their albums that followed were just as good even though many people fell off due to a major style change in the late 90s scenes. Seeing them live, there are not many bands left that can do what they do live. And of course, there is always a sense of urgency with them because you never know how long the bros will get along 🤣
Bill likes music and has no clue of the greatness of Jimi Hendrix. So many great songs in such a short period of time. Electric Ladyland and Axis Bold as Love are masterpieces.

Enjoyed listening to you guys chat tonight. I forgot we had seen Black Crows years ago when Chris was married to Katie. I think I forgot because I kept looking at Katie who was on the side of the stage smoking, singing, & dancing really enjoying herself the entire show..
